      i just recently got my 06 tl and had to remove the ugly 20in rims now with my new 18's im having to get camerkits, coilovers, and ill end up needing door panels since the previous owner drilled holes in my door panels for some off reason whilst keeping the stock amp and stock head unit. Ill also need new left and right fenders as the 20ins werent rolled... they were mutilated beyond repair... plus with the 6.5" speaker holes drilled in dóors (and no not where they were supposed to go) lets just say the out side will ne easier to fic than the inside. 1 sinlge 6.5 speaker worlking from the stocl radio on the stock amp.... maybe ill make a youtube channnel called TL Love lol

      @@hgfdksk17 Most people that have issues do not drive them properly or do the maintenance needed to keep this engines going.. Regular maintaining is good synthetic oil(Mobil 1 synthetic) every 6k miles, transmission fluid change with honda automatic fluid only every 25 to 30k miles, change spark plugs every 80k miles with good quality plugs.. timing belt water pump and tensioner every 100k, serpentine belt.. Run good fuel only 91+ and properly drive the car, moving the automatic shifter before the car is done moving is bad, never do that(example some people drive in reverse and before the car stops they move shifter to D and that wears the gears faster.)

    I went from a 2010 V6 Accord to a 2005 Acura TL. It was so comfortable and ride quality was amazing. At 224,000km I sold it and got a 2013 TL AWD which has aged so well. Safe to say that the TL platform is so underrated.

    I absolutely love my 6 speed 2004 TL very zippy car that can do fwd burnouts I’m not even kidding this car is a ripper and a lot of fun for a fwd vehicle probably one of the most fun FWD vehicles I’ve driven definitely beats out the VW GTI MK5. The J32 in the TL is just so potent when downshifting correctly that VTEC will reward you greatly. I know I sound like one of those Honda guys but I’ve owned the Acura TL’s competition the bmw 330ci E46 with a 6 speed manual and w204 C350 mercedes each hood in their own way but the TL is just a drivers car with the 6 speed manual that only people that have driven one can say

      I’ve driven the 5 spd automatic as well it’s no pushover either but the sensation of rowing your own gears will always be superior to have the car do it for you. I will say this that the early production modes with automatic are more susceptive to problems with age and higher mileage if you’re i. The market for a TL 6spd is the way to go I wouldn’t really get the TL Type S for an additional 15 horsepower the only things changed were a fresher up interior and the new 3.5 J series engine since those things are upwards of 15k+ for a manual
      As for the ownership of my TL it currently sits at 144k as a technician I’ve replaced the entire cooling system for the better longevity of keeping everything functioning well, new oem clutch, drilled and slotted rotors with stainless steel brake lines still on stock coilovers and a short precision short shifter and gram lights 57fs wrapped in 245/40/18 PS4’s. I’m looking to get an A-spect body kit soon to get the 08 TL type S design but man I can get quite spirited every-time I drive it very fun.

    My first car was a Volvo and had for years until someone backed into it and totaled it when I was in college. I took the money and bought a 2006 Acura TL. It didn’t have the A-Spec package but it had the entire spoiler package on the front bumper, sides, back and spoiler on trunk. It looked stunning. I remember pulling into the dealership and seeing it. It had 105K miles but the Acura dealer had done the entire 100k mile service so it was good to go. I loved it and enjoyed it in college. I set a personal top speed on a stretch of I69 while it’s being built in Indiana getting to 137. It handled so well. I eventually sold it for an RDX that I still have. I now own a blue 08 Type S because I loved the TL so much. Without a doubt the best generation TL ever made. I can’t wait to watch your Type S video!

    What a coincidence this video came up. Today, after 10 good years, I’ve driven my 2008 Acura TL Type S for the last time. It was totaled due to a drunk driver crashing right into the gas tank when it was parked and also broke the axle. I’ve been through the thick and thin with this car. This J series engine held up for 14 years before it started having issues with leaky gaskets until I fixed it last summer. The shocks, and the transmission took a dump the year before that, and all were replaced with a brand new one. I can’t say I’m exactly happy about letting it go, but nothing lasts forever and I’m glad I got to enjoy it one last time before seeing it off the repair shop.

    Corrections: 1: The 270-254hp rating is mentioned in plenty of other comments. 2: 89 octane was listed as permissible in the 2004 and 2005 brochures. 91 octane is the only recommended fuel from 2006 onward. 3: The limited-slip unit in the 6M is a Torsen. 4: The tire upgrade was a wheel upgrade to 18" that included summer tires, 5: It's, "cost", not, "costed", "amazingly", not, "amazing", "smoothed", not, "smoothened", FFS. Also, the 6m drives like an entirely different car from the automatic. I will never surrender mine.

    The 270 hp that is listed on the sticker was actually 258 hp. There was a late change in the rating because of the way Honda conducted the SAE horsepower test. Honda said that what they did was by the book but because of a new SAE testing standard, Honda had to list 258 horsepower on the window stickers of models produced even during the production year 2004.

      @@Steadyworking864 According to the manufacture, yes. Both the CL Type S and the TL Type S contained a 3.2 liter V-6. I remember the window stickers on the generation 3 TL initially reading 270 hp, but later during the model year production run, they were changed to reflect the new hp ratings of 258 even during the 2004 model year.
      I thought that maybe the 2001-2003 CL's and TL's would also be reclassified but there was no evidence the listing was wrong. I even talked to a Acura mechanic at my dealership and He said the same.

    About the car. I had a 06 TL with 6MT. I thought the car was nice but overrated. The car drove bigger than it was and had a very floaty suspension. It didn't handle very well and suffered from the notorious 3rd gear grind that so many Hondas from that time also had. I thought it looked nice, and if you wanted a comfortable highway cruiser, then the TL was a fine car. As a sports sedan, it left much to be desired.

    I had two 2004 TL’s. Wasn’t happy with the auto, so I ordered a 6MT about 3 months after I bought the auto. Bought it, put an AEM CAI in and ran it at the track for two runs. Both runs were 14.5, so I was satisfied and drove it like a grown up for the next 112,000 miles before I traded it in for a 3 series BMW and regretted it.

    HP was 254, not 270 (ok, you did mention it at the end of the video so I'll delete what I wrote). Also, 89 octane fuel is ok for 2004-2005. As of 2006+, the brochure states premium fuel only. Weight distribution is 64/36. Steering actually feels dead compared to my previous cars, an Alfa GTV-6 and a Mazda MX-6 V6M but after 17 years I'm, used to it and the intense torque steer. The Torsen, limited-slip may be there but does not stop wheelspin. Drive feel between automatic and the manual is huge. I was given an auto as a courtesy car and it was just awful. what does the clutch delay delete do?

    • @Currancchs
      @Currancchs Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@dusty6867 it allows the clutch to be engaged more abruptly. From the factory, there is a slight delay in clutch release due to the valve creating a restriction, which prevents the clutch from being dumped. It causes, IMHO, an excessive amount of slippage when trying to shift quickly and also causes the bite point to feel like it's moving around slightly, depending on how fast you release the clutch. Removing it just causes it to feel more like an old style cable actuated clutch.
