    I absolutely LOVE alcohol markers and they are my "go to" medium. I own Copics, and I love your tips...all great tips! I find that for me, the biggest learning tip was to not blend so much. In the beginning, I wanted everything to blend smoothly. Then I got brave and added much darker colors for my accents and shadows, and sometimes, I leave the shadows a little bolder (not so blended). POW! Like your flowers, it really makes those crevices pop and brings out the dimensionality of things. Thanks SO much for sharing your tips! Love your gorgeous flowers!

      I was exactly the same Brenda, I absolutely love some 'harsher' edges in my shadows especially in flowers as it makes them look way more realistic. And I overblended for years lol. thanks so much for your lovely visit here today, Crafty Hugs Tx

I have just subscribed to your utube, excited to have more resources. I’m new to alcohol markers, not to Altenew. I own 24 colors now from Altenew, but do not understand how they number their markers, so I pick the wrong colors sometimes thinking Im going darker. If you know of a place to understand how Altenew numbers the color markers & could advise insight, very appreciative. Thanks again for the great tips, including re-stamping at the end.

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Před 2 lety

      Hi Dena, a BIG Welcome to you, I am so very happy you are here! I adore the Altenew markers too, but agree with you when it comes to the numbering system so I have actually swatched mine out on a piece of cardstock instead and use this as a visual reference. Altenew has a free download swatch at the store (you can find it linked where you buy the markers). Also if you are familiar with their inks by name you may prefer to purchase the little 'name' dots to stick on top of the markers, that may also help work out which ones are lighter and darker from the ink families.
      As I am colouring I keep a scrap piece of cardstock beside me to touch the marker to and that helps me see the actual colour as I am creating.... I hope this may help you, looking forward to seeing you here again real soon. Crafty hugs, Therese

      @lostinpaper  Před 2 lety

      Yes, there is definitely a learning curve. Are they worth much 2nd hand? Because a friend of mine sold hers only to rebuy them but was more specific about what colours she chose the second time round. If you like pencils then Copics are a great way to add a base of colour and then use your pencils overtop to add the shading (makes the process much quicker). But if they aren't bringing you joy and just frustration maybe you are right to focus elsewhere... I know I would be lost without mine lol.

How do you pick the color to go back in and high light the rose with. I would never of thought of using the purple color. Well hun. Your days are getting back to normal more. • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Před 2 lety +1

      One way to choose the shading colour is to draw it out on a scrap piece of paper like I did and hold it against the image, otherwise you could colour on a scrap and add the shading colour to see if it will work. I don't own 1000's of colours so once I worked out which one worked for me I usually keep going back to that one (all smoke and mirrors my friend). And Yes, to flights and travel, things are looking up, though we know we have some hard times ahead, they have to come. I hope that if I do get the virus that it happens before my parents get here next year, though it's great to know that we are all fully vaxed. Hope you have fun making some Chirstmas cards, Yes, it's already October lol. Hugs Tx
