      I think COD is the only game that can be argued to an extent in terms of controller vs. KBAM. I think controller is just the better option in terms of warzone and cod just because close range gunfights are extremely difficult to win on a consistent basis. If you miss one single bullet in a close range gunfight on KBAM, you’re gonna lose to a good controller player. But I do agree that KBAM is more fun

      @@TheTater_change your classes, use less optics, don’t worry as much about recoil and substitute it for range since the aim assist reaches very far now a days, makes gunfights easier for me to prioritize range over horizontal or vertical recoil, just look for overall “recoil control” on attachments, usually there’s quite a few options that come with extra range, I’ve only started on KBM for call of duty in 2019. I didn’t play the new MW2. But I am on MW3. I enjoy it for the most part, but honestly I’m getting tired of the morons that just sit in their spawns mounted on shit, but it is what it is, most people don’t know how to play the game, so they hide. As a KBM guy, I find smoke grenades the easiest shit to use, also try out the HoloTherm on the snipers, you can see the enemies outlines, but they cannot see your glare at all since it’s a holosight.

    I remember during the early days of CoD and the beginning of Battlefield's growth on console, everyone understood playing on PC/KBM was for the people who were highly invested into gaming, and something many of us aspired to earn! Most of us were still on console at the time, but we'd still watch PC gameplay because of how fast and exciting it was, especially for Battlefield since we only had 30fps with virtually no aim-assist. To go from playing like that, to finally getting a PC and investing 10 years into myself and improving, to now seeing people spend 3000$ on a PC just to plug in a controller on CoD feels like we've forgotten the entire point of what we were doing.

The way I see it is kind of like an automatic transmission vehicle VS manual transmission. Controller is very straight forward and easy to learn and handle like an automatic car, where as a manual takes time and is a fully raw human to machine experience that you HAVE to understand because it will not allow for any errors. One allows for more skill to be shown w years of practice, while the other is very limiting and DOES help the user to achieve the same goal.. playing the game.

    Due to the lack of a precision on a control stick. The only thing aim assist should do really is slowdown that's it since it's not easy to actually pull back at the right speed which is where the problem has always been with using a controller. Sticks just weren't designed with intention of being used in FPS games. They were made for things like flight.
    Rotational aim assist really is the only real problem. Sometimes that really does the work for you and you can feel it. Other times it can screw you over, but more often than not it will help you. But no one needs that sort of hand holding where it tracks the enemies movements before either party can react.

    • @Dragoonsoul7878
      @Dragoonsoul7878 Před 4 měsíci +1

      The issue with this is Slowdown can become detrimental, if the target suddenly starts strafing to your left after strafing right you have the natural issue of sticks where you're still aiming right, slow right, slow left, then hard left.
      Just Slowdown gives M&K an massive advantage. This is why Rotational exists, to remove that issue above and was fine when it was only controller. When Crossplay came into the picture Mouse and Controller can't co-exist.

    in classic cod's there was only ONE type of aim assist which was the default version of it up until MW19 where we were introduced to multiple aim assist types (focusing, precision, standard). In MW2 (2022) the "black ops" aim assist was added to the game while the others still existed. Even in today's most recent cod (MWIII) all of the aim assist types I mentioned are still available in game; each aim assist brings a different dynamic that is still effective. the issue isn't aim assist alone, its the variety of aim assist types you can choose from. the only way to patch aim assist is to go back to how classic cod's were, which is to have 1 type of aim assist which is the standard version.

      The other problem apart from reaction time is visibility. They have made it far harder to see with the center dot shaking off-center of the screen, way more aim sway, more visual recoil, more muzzle flash/smoke etc. Most of this does nothing to a controller player while you are basically guessing where your bullets are actually coming out from half the time on M&K. In the event that you do manage to land all your shots, there is a far higher chance you are hitting arms and legs, whereas a controller's aim assist basically sticks you to the chest, so you even often lose fights when you aren't missing.

    Thoughts before watching the video:
    MW2019 did it well. however, aim assist should not work through destructible walls (more prevelent in vanguard) and not through smokes.
    Thoughts after watching the video:
    Aim assist has gotten too strong. I shouldnt be able to pick up a controller after years of not touching it (other than racing games) and be a 1.5 kd player. I had no clue that left stick aiming was superior and with controlFreaks, im sure i could easily be a 2kd+ like I am on pc. Most people who think aim assist is good have not played to be good on both inputs or are just really bad at controller. Aim assist should just go back to MW2019 levels. Where it was still stronger than pc (according to the lead warzone dev) but WAY more redeeming and fair than it is now.

    I'm the crazy one for switching to mnk in vangaurd on the ps5 because it looked fun to use lol it was a struggle in the beginning and i struggled even more when mw2 came out because aiming felt worse somehow and not as smooth. I can confidently say that I had a 1.9 kd and 2.2 kd in search specifically with controller on vanguard and after the switch it dropped to like 1.5 in 2 months! I enjoy kbm and it's still taking time to perform as good as I used to and I think im finally getting there now that I am also on pc. I do agree that aim assist needs to be tweaked not gone cause it def needs it!

    Adjust the damage guns do at max ranges and make aim assist not there at those distances. Guns need to stop having unlimited distances and still killing people. There is a lot more cheaters on pc too.

    Great video but I think a lot of the issues with this topic stem from language and tone. When you say things like “you don’t want to loose to a literal robot because that what it is” you’re insulting every controller player who, I’m willing to bet, at the time of getting that kill or making that play, didn’t feel for a second that a robot did it for them. It’s an absurd and inflammatory statement. I do get kills where I know I shouldn’t have made that headshot or won that gunfight but for the most part it is not something you notice most of the time because it’s just normal. In many instances I find aim assist to be annoying in the amount it can pull you off a headshot or to an area you aren’t aimming for. Insurgency on ps5 is another game with no aim assist I’m fairly certain and I destroy in that game too. Acting as if every kill was because of aim assist and controllers never miss a shot just isn’t reality. Pc players also love to leave out the numerous other advantages they have in literally every other area of gaming. Crossplay with pc in multiplayer games should have never been done. It’s made it so console can’t just play with console because if you opt out you get an endless search for a game, even when games are brand new and it’s given pc players an excuse for why they die, every time they die. It will never go back to non crossplay because pc is such a minority. I guess we will all just have to hate each other forever 😂

    The main issue in MW3 is not AA the issue is the gun sway and reticle centering even when strafing the gun sway is ridiculous sometimes you feel like there is a bloom. True gaming data explained the issue very well

    • @esperfire3779
      @esperfire3779 Před 5 měsíci

      It's a two pronged issue. All that stuff technically affects controller players as well, it's just that the aim assist is so strong it automatically counteracts most of the effects without the player even realizing they existed in the first place. Both need to be toned down, because if you did nerf AA then controller players would start getting doubly screwed by those mechanics, because they're even less equipped to counteract them manually.

  • @N7Null
    @N7Null Před 5 měsíci +15

    The big thing you gotta take into consideration is that controller players are indirectly buffed when the game has increased health and increased movement. Tracking a target through space well is one of the hardest things to do on m+kb but aim assist basically trivializes it on controller. The problem though is that if you make the game super slow where everything is a laser that instagibs you then the game becomes less fun (imo) and it still doesn't mean that aim assist won't pick players up through walls. It feels like they cranked up the aim assist when they decided to go with advanced movement and then dialed it back down a bit when they went back to classic CoDs, but they didn't bring it back to where it was in the past.
    ~10-11 years ago when dudes like IncredibleOrb and TBNR Frags first popped up, it was clear that m+kb players would dumpster controller players but that has changed thanks to shit like Scufs and buffed aim assist. There's a reason why games like Quake 3 Arena and UT didn't do well on console back in the day and that's probably because the developers weren't willing to give players what was effectively just an aimbot.

    • @SaltSpirits
      @SaltSpirits Před 5 měsíci

      Tracking is literally easier on m/kb because you can literally just adjust the speed of your arms movement in real time over a greater distance with more accuracy, your skill at it may just be underdeveloped (which would make sense if you come from one shot headshot games like cs or valo)

    • @N7Null
      @N7Null Před 5 měsíci +3

      @@SaltSpirits Not as simple as that. Things like player movement speed, player hitbox size, distance and whether or not you have a hitscan or projectile weapon factor in too. Tracking in games like CS and Valorant isn't that difficult because the players move relatively slowly and CS applies a MS penalty for getting shot.
      Having to aim with your entire arm has pros and cons in that you have a wider angle you can cover but you have less fine control over stopping and starting. It's similar to the premise behind different length thumbsticks giving a player more control to make very fine adjustments at long range at the cost of precision and speed close up.
      Tracking is hard because it's easy to either overshoot or undershoot, especially when your opponent quickly switches directions and that's exactly where aim assist helps a player the most. It's like pitch correcting the note a singer sings. It's not going to sound right if the singer is totally off, but it can make a slight flat or sharp note sound perfect without being too obvious.
      I know there are some videos out there of people hitting high numbers in shit like AimLab and Kovaak's but those exercises aren't real matches, don't simulate a real match and they're also not having to think about their own movement and counter-strafing while tracking the opponent's. Some of the best aimers in Quake sit around 40-50% LG accuracy in duels, assuming their opponent isn't a bot who is walking or standing there.

    IMO, i really believe aim assist should be there. That said, I think rotational aim assist needs to be nerfed. It's too strong. Being able to find someone behind a wall because your aim would be slowed down, that's a problem. I remember someone finding someone during hide and seek not because they saw them, but because their aim assist slowed down over the body. It's just too damn strong, to the point where it's now a crutch.

    And reaction time is everything when it comes to tracking moving players, especially in close quarters.

The controller players had no issue getting kills and winning games. If this did actually happen, it was super interesting to see how happy they were with how the game felt. I don't know if this was ever actually stated that this happened, but if it did, I think the nerf to rotational would be beneficial to all sides just like has been said in the video.
