I am very happy to have found you as my go to channel for news about obscure driving bases games.
Love that! Hopefully many more obscure driving games ahead.
As a Midwestern resident, I found the Jackalope reference amusing.
I'd never heard of it before but then the game explains it.
@@ATribeCalledCars oh, we farm them in some of the more secluded areas to sell as pets.
Indies are the future of gaming.
The creativity has always been a huge plus, nice to see indies can still kill it in this day and age. Generally games aren't getting less complex, that's for sure.
The future is already here
The Vanishing Point (movie) vibes are astronomical. This looks freaking amazing.
Had to mention that in the video, definitely a strong influence!
Sadly, it's only vibes, emotions, bad physics, rubber-band AI, cringy narrative scenes and often unrealistic, far left biased options for players to choose from with otherwise decent music and art direction.
Moreover, Vanishing Point has strong libertarian right ideology and topics delivered smoothly and in background while Heading Out only insults this timeless classic by injecting far left ideology and pandering straight in our faces with cringly biased scenes and unrealistic, forced choice options (gotta get that good ESG score). Kowalski was not running from fear or out of fear. He had far greater motivation and principles.
In addition, the historical era is either blurred on purpose or historically innacurate. Police cars are 1981-87 Ford LTD Crown Victorias, cassette tapes are used instead of 8-tracks and the protagonist looks like a modern day spoiled teen paid protestor from Portland or Seattle, the image far from the old-school outlaws and renegades.
It’s clear the Pole devs from Serious Sim have no idea about the American freedom and core values the United States were founded upon. The very important part of what makes Vanishing Point what it is. It’s not just the famous car, speeding and dozers.
Wow, this is bringing back reeeeallly old memories. I remember a game I used to play in school back in like 1989 that was kind of the spiritual predecessor of this. Can’t remember what it was called, but you played a trucker driving across the country to deliver commodities in a set period of time. Wasn’t much in the way of gaming controls, you set your speed and destination and just let it get you there. Along the way you might hear about special deals on commodities on the radio to potentially increase your profit if you could fit it into your route and timeline. There was a surprising amount of survival mechanics for a game this early in the pc’s development and you had to manage your food, water, exhaustion and truck condition, all of which would affect your timeline and profit margins. It was mostly text controls, like you had to type in the command “toff engine” to turn off your engine when you would stop the truck and “sleep 8” to sleep for 8 hours or something like that. You could also chose to pick up hitchhikers or help a stranded motorist, but again it all affected the outcome of your journey.
Serious comment now, this game looks refreshingly old-school yet modern. If it's priced appropriately I'll definitely purchase.
I put prices in the pinned comment and it's currently 10% off so I think it's decent value.
@@ATribeCalledCars Oh.... didn't realise it's PC.... me and my plebian xbox
@@KarlDavies-dn3eg Plebian for the win, although Xbox hasn't been quite as good as it once was but that's a topic for another day lol.
Voice acting sounds good
Some great performances.
Hmmm. Looks kinda empty (boring?)
The idea certainly seems interesting, so I’m glad you’ve brought it to our attention, I just will wait for a few reviews before shelling out my dosh
👍🏻
I mention the emptiness in places but it does go with the vibe. Despite the way it's played there is a sense of openness and adventure.
Oh hey, Angola, IN. I’ve been there a bunch.
Google claims it’s available on Xbox, but I don’t see it on the store.. Hopefully it happens soon, though.
Sold me
I'll pick it up when it hits the switch.
Any idea when?
As far as I know, it's PC only for now and maybe forever.
Congrats on the sponsorship, Ben 👍🏽
Cheers very much :)
Does this run with a wheel and pedals?
Reminds me a bit of Interstate 76'
Can see that too.
Its been a long time ago
Will this be on console too not just PC
I'll double check but I think PC only.
You still haven't told me whether i'm buying Expeditions or not!
Could you please do a review on mudrunner mobile?
I am sorry but I have seen this game and it definitely looks like it is the opposite of what I'm looking for not for me
Fair enough, won't be for everyone as I say towards the end of the video.
I will continue to watch your content I think you've got real potential as a CZcamsr/content creator best of luck in the future Ben!
@@karlhoward46Uhhh, he has 65k subscribers with a relatively niche subject. I think he's already a content creator...
Does anybody know if you can play the game with a steering wheel
I'll be honest, I didn't try but I get the feeling no. At least, not officially.
Yip, forst 🎉🎉
Vroom vroom.
an interesting game for sure, but your delivery made it sound like you were just reading it out and had to hit certain bullet points that you had agreed with the developer to mention.
That's my normal delivery and I wrote it myself without intervention.
@@ATribeCalledCars Fair enough.
I've been following his channel for a while, and this is his style of writing/talking his script. I'd recomend you to see any of his Snowrunner videos.
for what its worth, i love your scripts and delivery! its the main thing that brings me to your videos
@@scroogeydoogeedoo Thank you, I genuinely do write exactly what I think and try to deliver it in my own way.
Urgh, speed lines.
I hope the radio can be shut off.
You can not shut off the radio. What's worse is you don't even have a choice of what station you wish to listen to. Just what the game wants to play at the time. It can be skipped but, never shut off.
It feels empty
looks trash
This looks dull and boring
