As an industrial electrician I love using the power ratchet on equipment with a large amount of small fasteners that most other tools strip out so the lack of torque is what I'm looking for, and then I use the ratchet manually if I need to snug up the bolts.
I fix car interiors for a living so the lesser torque is a good thing for me too, way too easy to demolish interior screws and the like. Far too often I have to unscrew "A pillar" trim by hand because I can't fit my screw gun against the glass. It's definitely going to be a massive help when I do mechanic work on my cars though, breaker bar as needed then zip it off.
Batteries don't come fully charged because lithium ion batteries last the longest in storage when it's at about 40%. Manufacturers do this keep the batteries fresh in case the products sit on the shelf for a while.
I ordered the new high speed 1/4 and 3/8’s and I love them. I had the gen 1 fuel and it worked good but it slows down a LOT at half batter and it’s not very well balanced in your hand. The high speed is my new every day electric ratchet unless I need something with more torque.
Make sure it’s the right model. HD is kind of slow to get the updated models. My store was still carrying older models of 12v tools several months ago.
I feel like this new small head high speed 3/8 is a dirrect replacement/upgrade for the earlier brushed version. I have it and love it for the small stuff, this new one sounds great. Same power, but its nice and compact and has GIANT speed gains. Extended versions/long neck seem to always be the best option, i don't have any but i surely want to lol.
I got the old extended ratchet from kijiji because it's only 180 CAD brand new 😂As a DIYer I totally fine with it. I just want one no matter new or old version no big deal for me, just the price tag are expensive here. Canada homedepot sells stuff very expensive right now.
Was contemplating one of these for my work for building stuff but definitely not good for tearing down parts. I use Bosch hybrid impacts for disassembly but hand ratchet for building so a Milwaukee could be useful.
now its time to wait for the long reach. I use long reach most often, for now matco is the winner due to size issue. I don't need extreme power, just to be able to crack 10mm or 12mm or E8 nut and bolt where my angle impact or stubby can't reach
Very interesting. Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on some of these M12/M18 tools for a while now... They just seem so much more convenient than air. Half the time I that would need an impact or could make use of a power ratchet, I just end up using hand tools because it's such an annoyance to go turn on the compressor, lube the tool, then you've got the hose, the noise, etc... I'm somewhat surprised to find that newer is not necessarily better (or at least in all categories).
100% are used to use air but like you said turning the compressor on waiting around having a giant hose sticking out of the tool. All time consuming and honestly very annoying. I actually got rid of my air compressor and only use M 12 in M 18 Milwaukee stuff now and it’s absolutely amazing. Never once have I said man I wish I had air. The batteries last forever and they’re just so easy to use and compact. I highly recommend you pick one up and you won’t be disappointed.

Is it wrong for me to say I'm putting some of the upcoming stimulus towards some of these? lol... I'll keep the compressor around for blowing things out. It still outclasses anything else for that. Maybe some other weird tools. As inconvenient as they may be, they're cheap AF! I picked up an HF air hammer for like... what, $13? Good lord is that thing awesome. Obviously it has fringe case uses though, for me at least. I'll be getting the Milwaukees to be my daily drivers. Thanks =)
That’s the one thing that I would love if Milwaukee made, A impact chisel m12 or m18 would be so rad. Also we would be cool if they made a body belt sander. I know people adapt them and build them on their own but it would be cool to see Milwaukee do it.

100% I mean it is nice when it can do it on its own. But how hard it it to break loose a bolt with a slight twist of the wrist then blast im the rest off real quickly.
That's the new 3/8 speed Ratchet you either get speed or torque the older fuel ratchet had more torque the speed ratchet does less torque and more speed
I agree, a few seconds longer is no big deal. I rather have 55 ft lbs, and also the build strength is designed to handle 175 ft lbs of force applied to break tough caliper bolts, etc. You would break the head on this one. Is the older fuel substantially more durable then the new high speed? I know the non fuel m12 had heads snap off of them and were basically light duty only.
hey if I wanted to get the mid torque with a 6.0 high output battery and a lisle honda crank socket will it remove even a really old one or go for the high torque ?
Actually it's pretty damn awesome. It can crack stuff loose to a point. But if it's torqued down tight if you can move it ever so slightly to get it going it will get the fasteners of quickly. I do like the older version with a bit more torque for tight spots.
Small 2567 is junk. It’s fast but can’t even break a low torqued nut loose. The older 2557 breaks nuts much better. Even smaller Breakaway power is junk on the new one. Just make sure u read this before making a decision. 2557>2567

I was just wondering if Milwaukee was sending these to you because I personally wouldn’t keep buying kits with the 2Ah batteries. I heard the XC batteries help boost the torque for the impacts. Do you know if this is true? I have the Fuel ratchet. Is it worth it to upgrade to the high speed one? I’m a little torn because I’ve only used my fuel ratchet once. It just sucks if I get the high speed one because I feel that my normal fuel will not be used at all. But IDK. Also, I’m planning to get the right angle impact. What size anvil would you recommend if I could only have one? Thanks so much!
@@dragger168 yeah, they sent me that that’s usually why I get kits. It works great in tight spots but the torque isn’t amazing. The stubby is way better at breaking stuff loose. But the right angle impact I usually only use when somethings in a very tight place. I end up using the electric extended reach ratchet most of the time. If you get the right angle impact I’d go 3/8 but that’s really up to what you like using the most.

@@dragger168 if you use the ratchet for a living upgrade. For home use the slow ones fine and you’d be better off with the right angle impact as far as versatility. Then some day when you get the urge upgrade to the faster one.

Bought the old style for 55ft lbs the new ones only have 35ft lbs. Have the older non fuel for more speed and less torque.

Should have addressed the weight difference as well. After holding/using each for the entire day (auto disassemble), much less fatigue…
