My Journey to the Wakhan Corridor Pt. 1: Tajikistan - Afghanistan Border Crossing 🇦🇫

  • After hearing automatic military weapons firing off in the nearby hills, I knew the country I was about to enter would be like no other I would ever travel to. But, I wasn't here to see warfare. I wanted to see the true culture of the people not at war, and experience the everyday life of those living in a remote corner of this misunderstood country. The Wakhan Corridor is a very harsh place to live, with mortality rates some of the highest in the world. Services here are limited and hard to access, not to mention the extreme winter weather that not only kills livestock, but the human population as well. In this video I cross the Tajikistan - Afghanistan border at the Ishkashim post, and get a glimpse of Afghan village life before venturing into the Wakhan Corridor. Along the way I met nothing but gentle, smiling faces who welcomed me with open arms. As a whole, Afghanistan can be considered as one of, if not the most dangerous country in the world. Please do your own research when traveling to any part of this country, as security situations could change at any time. Thank you for watching my journey into the Wakhan Corridor and stay tuned for part 2 to see how I get to the village to Sarhad before starting a trek deep into the Pamir mountains. I'm sorry bhai I truly cannot remember. It is best to share the cost with other traveler's if you can. I stayed at Marco Polo Guesthouse in Ishkashim and met other traveler's there.
