This was actually my very first interview as a virtual assistant. To be honest it is very nerve wracking, especially when you're trying to convey your answers properly. Anyways, I tried my best to make it understandable with the captions.
I hope you find this video interesting if you somehow stumble upon it. This has been a great experience for me. I'm not hired yet but, hopefully this video, sharing my performance to all of you make it worth it.

1.for experience? interviewer wants to know if you are up for long term career as va or just temporarily stay to gain experience. ofcourse the company is not a training ground or a school so be wise of your choice. they need long term people with goals aline with the company's
    2. working alone- even if you are more effective working alone, a company wants a team player and resilient employee as well.
3.interviewer was digging you or reconfirming you of long term plans of staying in the company.
as much as we want to be conversant, opt for short yet precise answers and avoid beating around the bush type of answers, you may opt to provide sample real life experience as comparison showing your characteristics that fit their job description and qualification.

I did got the job. But it was only for a limited time. My first semester of junior year in college just started the moment I got in so I had to leave. I simply wanted to avoid conflicts in my schedule and also for personal reasons. But right now I just finished my first semester so I might make a follow up video answering all of your concerns. Please stay tuned. Again, thank you so much and have a good day 😊

Visayans and Mindanaoans do speak Tagalog/Filipino but we prefer speaking in English because when we speak Tagalog/Filipino, we have a certain accent (not all). We pronounce Tagalog words the way they are written... like "kasi" is ka-see not ka-seh. "Bakit is ba-kit not ba-keht. If you know what I mean... hahhahaha and other dialects have certain way of strong kinda angry way of speaking like Cebuanos and others have a melodic and soft way of speaking like Ilongos... but there are a lot of Mindanaoans and Visayan who can speak Tagalog/Filipino like those from Luzon...

I've created an upwork account as well and I'm hoping that I get to receive an invitation for interview soon because I know this will be a whole different experience for me because I'm a career-shifter. That was a casual interview. Mostly about your interest and education. It was good and I like the confidence despite being a beginner. Just a tip. Highlights your working attitude and strength during interviews and how it relates to the position you are applying for. Questions pertaining to how long you plan to stay with the employer and the position they're looking is really about them preferring people who intend to stay so they don't have to keep hiring when people leave after gaining experience.

Hi I definitely agree with your points here. I am starting to think that this man is a fresh graduate and wanting to start his journey as a Virtual Assistant because of the way he answers the questions and also the way he expresses his ideas. Nonetheless, as a person who had experienced being interviewed by a CEO level interviewer from Ph and abroad, I can say that he did pretty well as a beginner. He just need to expound his knowledge and know how to relate his answers to the position he is targeting for.

Hi, I enjoyed this video a lot. But, I am from Cebu City, and have lived in Mindanao. I’d like to clarify your point saying that we don’t really speak Tagalog. We understand and speak Tagalog pretty well, but not as native as fellow Filipinos in Luzon. Moreover, Filipino subjects are I think evident in the curriculum in all parts of the Philippines and I haven’t heard of people from Luzon being exempted from that, even after finishing my college degree.
Just to shed some light though. Thank you!

bisaya here as well. i actually wasn't offended with his statement about us not being able to speak tagalog. he probably was just very nervous with his interview and was not able to explain it well. but what he said about us people from mindanao and visayas being better english speakers is so cute and sweet. because, let's face it, a lot of people from luzon look down on us calling us taga bundok/probinsya. they even ask if we have malls here lol. but this video is about his VA interview experience so we should've focused on that nalang sana. although i understand naman why some would get offended, it's because of those stereotypes naman din kasi, so i think both sides are valid naman hahaha 😁

Correction, if you cannot understand someone's dialect as you say it isn't a dialect. It's a language per definition. Dialect on the other hand per definition is very similar to a specific language with words and grammar structure but there's a local blend to it like local terms, colloquial terms, or phrases added to the language.

  • @ohdjrp4
    @ohdjrp4 Před 2 lety +16

With regards to the national language, I think most Filipinos, in their local areas or settings, do speak their native dialect more primarily than our national language or perhaps a mix of it.
But of course, if they got engaged in tagalog whether by speaking or writing, for sure most would be fluent.

Actually guys.. You know, It's an interview for job application, and in that moment, sometimes we can't avoid or accidentlly say something that is not supposed to say especially for being first timer applicants..(awkward moments na di maiwasan kung minsan po☺️) Or even if we are so professional of taking interviews , we still get too much nervous about those moments.. 😊 Right? and IT'S NATURAL. It's just alright.... that moment that he was asked about d language & dialects(which is nahighlight naman niya na your place like visayas & mindanao is likely more fluent in english) which is, it does not really depend on place, I do not understand why the interviewee asked about that between filipino language, dialects and such at all. Well in a middle of a little intensed moment, "he just shared a little trivia from our culture for a foreign one, of what he knew...
you can just give👌a little understanding about that.. for we are all experiencing those moments...
It's cool na may time para magkwento-kwento in d middle of an interview for an applicant..☺️☺️
Especially if one wants to know about her/his place/environment or countrymen..
*As long as it won't affect the job at all.. 🍂💕💕☺️

Wow , I was so amazed. Good for you , that you passed the interview. I just want to comment down here what u have said about people in visayas and mindanao. Im from negros occidental. We speak hiligaynon. We study Filipino as a subject. And we can actually understand and speak tagalog. probably our parents/grandparents might not be so fluent speaking tagalog. But to be honest. Its really difficult actually to study mother tongue language/dialect subject specially kids. Even me, kinda difficult to understand the word. Like its a jargon for me. Funny because we encounter words from our mother tongue that not familiar with. I would rather learn Filipino/English.

for everybody's information, especially sa mga taga Luzon, we all do have Filipino subjects - its the national language og PH. which means we do understand everything you are saying, its just that our diction is not that good, because we are not naturally born, speaking Tagalog. And yes, you are right, mostly from Visayas and Mindanao ace in the English language, its kind of a big deal here.
But Kudos and congratulations to you!

I'm a Filipino living in Mindanao and I speak 3 dialects (bisaya, tagalog, ilonggo) and I'd like to clarify that we do understand Tagalog (obviously since it's our national language and it's taught in all schools here in PH) and CAN SPEAK Tagalog though not as 'naturally' if you would say as compared to those pinoys whose native tongue is Tagalog since we rarely use Tagalog here. It was a little offending hearing that from you, just hoping that you change that point of view since that was clearly a stereotypical view esp coming from someone who doesn't know much on the other dialects here in PH but nonetheless this was a good video and I learned a lot from your interview so thank you for that.

That's true we use our own dialect. But most, if not all, from Visayas and Mindanao, knows how to speak Tagalog. It's just that we're comfortable speaking our own dialects. But it's not just the people "down there," there are also in Luzon who have their own dialects right? I think it's fair enough if most of us can't understand each other's dialect (cus obviously that's why it's called dialect). And YES, all of us Filipinos have Filipino subject, that's a pre-requisite. BUT THANK YOU for complimenting us that we're good at speaking English. You guys too! And You did great for your honest interview. 😁
