As someone who has a sister with Down’s syndrome and whom I love very much…thank you Mattel for creating this doll 💗
Am glad there raising awareness for Down syndrome but it sucks because there’s a lack of people on the autism spectrum and there’s not a lot of toys for girls who have autism like me and when there is people treat us like crap because we don’t have birth defects like others do
@@kaylakain6039 monster high g3 twlya is autistic
I have a sister with downs syndrome and I think you and this idea of Barbie is a PHUXCKING ridiculous idea and only done for the money......Weve always taught here to be better than who she is.....not remind her of who she is...IDIOT
@@franksanz1044 no
I personally don't think you should expect to see yourself in dolls or any TV or movie characters. The most important thing is what you can learn from them, not what they look like.
One of the many reasons I love Barbie so much 💖
Such a big fan ❤
@@Kaylen-q7x thank you 💖
Omg I love you so much 💖
Hope they are on the shelves now! Then soon a DS Ken doll!
I like your work keep it up!
Kayla is a member of my church, and it warms my heart to see someone familiar in my life on national tv
Awe, I hope you're lucky enough to get a hug from her, now that she's a celebrity! 🤩 She did a fantastic job, she can probably fill in for the pastor.
@@idid138 she probably could be a pastor, but we go to a catholic church
So cool! She seems like an absolutely beautiful person. Love that Mattel has this doll out.
She did a beautiful job presenting this big reveal.
What a beautiful moment. ❤
I thought Kayla's dress was pretty amazing as well.
@@cannella617well there's no doubt she will find ways to share her gifts with the church and community.
My sister has DS and still loves Barbie’s. At 36 years old, she’ll be so happy to see a doll that looks like her.
Wouldnt you just love to be a PARAPALEGIC and see a doll like you.....dummmmmb asssshhhh
That’s wonderful❤️❤️❤️
That's lovely 😍 Gloria
I’m 32 and looooves my Barbie’s and dolls! Can’t wait to get this one!
@@JourneyInTheCity ohh really that's lovely you know right..
Can we talk about what an amazing spokesperson Kayla is?! She rocked that interview!
she goes to my church; she is a very amazing lady indeed
Yes she does a lot of speaking out.
Kayla is a registered lobbyist and the Manager of Grassroots Advocacy with the National Down Syndrome Society so this interview was a walk in the park for her :D
All that & she is beautiful too❣️❣️❣️
@justmatty9795 honestly I agree and I'm friends with her irl
Even though my sister is an adult, she will love this! She has down syndrome and I think it's amazing to see them create this! This is long overdue!
This story is so sweet, and Kayla did a wonderful job.
Barbie Fashionistas have done A LOT to provide more diverse and inclusive dolls at an accessible price point so all kids have a chance to see a barbie with a prosthetic like theirs, with skin tone like theirs, with hearing aids like theirs, and now a doll with downs syndrome for all the little kids who have it who've never seen a doll like them. I think it's wonderful and I hope it helps the next generation see all people as valuable individuals.
For me I have Down Syndrome and I am actor!!! Not a lot of people say that because some people don’t like attention for people like us to included they wanted us to be ignored!! But I say that we do matter!!! We can’t be ignored!!! Being an actor doesn’t mean that you want attention you just want to be loved and to be heard!!! You just have to be you. That’s what I do and I love it. I love being me!! I love being Chris Lopes!!! He is awesome, he is talented and he doesn’t care on what people think or say about him. We will never quit!! We are living life without limits and we don’t care!!! We are loved and we will be treated equally!!
This is fantastic! I am so happy! I'm disabled and no one looks like me and I am thrilled that this barbie doll with down syndrome is out. Thank you so much, I also saw one in a wheelchair. We definitely need more representation and I so excited for this doll !
I had a Barbiev with a wheelchair growing up. So it's good they brought it back
Yeah it's good they bought back
I personally think anyone should be free to like what they want, not what they look like.
I'm not pretty but I like pretty and cool dolls for example.
My life as had a doll with a fake leg
Im 65 and still play with my original Barbies! They have gotten me through some tough times! I love that bew Barbie! Bravo!
This is so beautiful, I have a Down syndrome cousin and this warms my heart
You can see both boys and girls playing with the dolls, so sweet ❤
Best move ever Mattel
This doll made a lot of kids happy! It helps them realize they are not alone. 😊❤
Thank you for this video and thank you Mattel for this collaboration. It has been a long time coming and having a doll that represents my sister Vicci who is about to celebrate her 62nd birthday is such a blessing. She has been through so much and is happy to see all the opportunities available to those that are differently abled.
thanks for using my quote💕
Happy Birthday to your sister, Vicci ! 🎂 🎉 Hope she is doing well 💕
@@wordgirl6267 Thank you, she is...
I know you’re not trying to sound offensive but I just wanted to let you know that disabled is the preferred term not differently abled.
@@palesgensler3099 thank you for the clarification. I was wondering about this. 😊
I am crying at work. I am so happy to see this!
I love this so much. Everyone deserves to be represented! Kayla seems like such a beautiful person both inside and out💕
As a mom of a special needs child, kudos to Matel for making inclusive dolls! All Barbies are beautiful😊💖😊💖
All children are beautiful too❣️
So happy to see a doll that reflects what our kids look like
KIDS ....???? I hear the music of DELIVERENCE for some reason ......
@@davecruz9893 LMFAO BRO
Kids don't look like that
@@998576999 Some do. I don't mind letting the tardos be happy.
@@franksanz1044 Only 1% do
this warms my heart immensely 🥹💙
Love this! I can’t wait to buy this Barbie for my granddaughters!
Do you granddaughters suffer from Down's Syndrome?
@@bobblue_west that's not very polite to be nosey .. she said she wants to buy it for her granddaughters , and it's NOT your concern if they are Down-Syndrome, or not . If someone comments that they want to buy an African-American Barbie , would you have asked THEM ??! 🤔
@@wordgirl6267 She said she "can't wait" to buy it for her gd's. I know free speech for some is only non-hurty feelings, but not all the world plays by those woke restrictive rules.
@@bobblue_west jesus christ dude calm tf down just stay out of people's business and go get a life
@@bobblue_west Eho sad anything about free speech and yeah, I agree it's a bit rude to ask so.eone something like thar but I understand that you were curious. Also what she said is not woke at all.
This girl has more confidence than me! ❤ 👏👏👏👏
I agree! Kayla is AMAZING! 💙💛
I love the new, diverse direction Barbie is taking with their dolls. They finally realized that they have fans of all shapes, sizes, ect.
Great job, Mattel! I'm a grown woman and still have fond memories of playing with my barbies, Ken and Skipper. I had a cottage, but my cousin had the dream house.
This made me cry happy tears 🥲 I can’t believe it’s taken this long but now that it’s happened it deserves celebrating 🥳 Just like every neuro divergent person deserves celebration and representation!! 🎉
Absolutely Beautiful
I just turned 30 and I love barbie!!!!! Forever I still have at least 10 from the 90s
Absolutely Awesome! We are the Lucky Few and I am very glad this happened.
I love all these different dolls Mattel are bringing out, especially the doll with hearing aids ❤
This spokesperson is a very high-functioning woman with DS. Thanks for explaining the subtle differences. I have a 46yo niece with Downs and I'm not entirely sure she would recognize the Downs features without having them pointed out to her.
I don’t have DS, and if I saw this doll on the shelves I would just assume it’s like any other Barbie doll, so I’m glad they explained it too.
Excellent work Kayla on presenting the big reveal. ❤
Congratulations to the Down's community as well.
This is wonderful and about time!!!
Words can’t describe how much I love this. I don’t know anyone personally with Down syndrome, but working for Disney, you do meet a lot of people with their own unique traits, and it just feels so right having representation where it’s needed. It makes me so happy to see this 😊❤
My sister, who had Downs Syndrome, loved Barbie dolls! She would have loved this doll!
That’s so precious
I loves this barbie! So sweet 🩷🩷
The design is beautiful! ❤️❤️
I love her and she has AFOs! I am definitely getting one for my daughter because my daughter has worn AFOs since 17 months old and my cousin has Downs' Syndrome and I always adored her growing up she was never any different than us!!! This made my daughter so happy! Thanks Mattel!
Just another reason why I absolutely love Barbie/Mattel❤️
The doll doesn’t have Down Syndrome features though.
It represents a moderate case of DS, rather than the more extreme, but they did highlight the standard traits.🖤🇨🇦
It's so amazing that Barbie is being so much more inclusive now!
It's nice to see someone with down syndrome actually speaking for themselves in this! I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw the news on social media yesterday about the unveiling (also probably to hype people up for the upcoming Barbie movie I reckon too), because it's unfortunately always abled speaking for those with down syndrome. Having abled people speak for disabled people, is something that is actually despised in the disabled community
Thank you, Mattel!!
i always love barbie, no matter what the doll is. glad they're giving more range!
I love this beautiful Barbie doll!
Love this! I didn’t know about the 3 arrows representing Down’s syndrome, how cool!
I didn’t either and I’m so glad to now know! 😊
Same
Finally!!! Great interview
Thank you so very much for sharing this video with me today Karen Nichols. I have had a lot of people that I know that has Down syndrome. I’m a big fan of the Barbie.
This warms my heart 💕 this is amazing for all special needs people whether they have down syndrome or their autistic or just have developmental delays this is amazing way to go Barbie I can support this Barbie!
OMG I am so ignorant- before Kayla started talking I had this idea in my head of what she would say/sound like. And I was NOT expecting her to be so enthusiastic, articulate and freaking on point! She used the word "peers" and "fashionista" among others and I was not expecting any of that. This is wonderful in every possible way.
Amen! I hope this Barbie will save precious lives.
@@idid138 Wait a second, Idid, and I'm trying not to be rude, but how can a toy that's designed for playing "save" a life? Just curious.
@@taylermuilenburg5029yeah,I'm wondering that too. It's just a doll.
This is so great!!❤
That doll doesn’t look like it has Down syndrome. Good effort though
Well not everyone who has Down syndrome will look the same
@@Lilith-cosplay-world so you’re excluding those who have hard core Down syndrome to pander only to Down Syndrome Lite?
@@Lilith-cosplay-world the doll doesn’t even look like that awesome spokesperson
@@afridgetoofar1818 no, not everyone who has Down syndrome looks the same
@@Lilith-cosplay-world Exactly. That means Mattel needs to release more Barbie dolls who have different degrees of Down Syndrome.
Nice that see that Barbie is super pro life
My heart is full!!!! ❤
Fabulous!!! I'm a Sped teacher, and we have barbies galore, but this!!!!
To the people who would say "this is woke" this is not!!, this is just barbie continuing to do the one thing theyve always done, which is make others feel included, i cant wait to see whats next!!
I don't know why Conservatives calling this woke. The doll is actually pro-life.
@@Patrick19833it’s more about inclusion and diversity not so much about pro life
Are they doing a "Malibu Stacey" one as well?
she’s beautiful! 🥰
She's so well spoken.
This is so cool good job Barbie creators💖💕
Such a blessing I love this ❤
YEAH!!! Nice going Barbie.🎉🌼
This is absolutely beautiful 😁😁
This is soo amazing!!
Yes. Cannot wait to get one.
I just love this doll I feel so included in life. Thank you, Barbie for creating this doll. For me, with autism who has friends with Down syndrome, this one is going to make history. And I hope we have a doll with Austim too. #AustimAwareness #DownSyndromeAwareness
💕 Yes, that would be great!!! 🙏🏼
This may seem unrelated, but Mattel makes a doll line called Monster High with its own show, and they just confirmed a fan favorite character is autistic and say it explicitly in the show. I don't have her doll yet but I want to because the show was a special interest for me when I was younger and it makes me so happy to see the inclusivity that kids these days get to grow up with! Wouldn't be surprised if Barbie does it soon too since they're both made by Mattel.
@@qryptid
Yeah, I'm familiar with Monster High... that's awesome! 💖
@@qryptid
Thanks for the info! 😊
It don’t need a doll to look autistic u can just pretend it is but my life as the 18 inch doll brand from Walmart has one
I love this so much❤️ Thank you Barbie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I hope they make a Ken version for the boys, too. ❤
Absolutely that's just as important too.
I know I have seen in my local shop in Hull, u.k both a barbie and a Ken doll in a wheelchair, so if that's the case. Hopefully that one is next.
I should think so.
@@chantellelandon85 yeah it’ll probably just be used for the next line
Wow great work Barbie! Awesome to see the inclusion!
Absolutely wonderful!!!! They should work on representing all! Every child should feel normal as possible and not be ashamed of the way they are. I’m definitely waiting on that little person doll
If you're a fat kid, would you like a fat Barbie doll? You see, it's a stupid idea.
They brought back the one in a wheelchair, have some with fake legs, and skin conditions people can be born with
I have one with a fake leg
This is wonderful!
It's soooo about time ❤❤❤❤
YES! FINALLY! I've been wanting them to make a Barbie with Down Syndrome for YEARS!!!
This is beautiful and I have a daughter who’s passed away that had a genetic disorder so I don’t think this company realizes how meaningful this is to us as parents. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
This is awesome so good that Barbie is doing this
Yeah, Kayla! I love seeing Kayla!
That's a really cute doll though, that's really cool.
As a critical doll point of view though, I wish it was on a made-to-move body so it had all the joints. I know all regular Fashionista dolls only have the five points of articulation, but I wish this one had all of the joints because it's so unique and special, and I wish it could offer the full range of movement. Is the body type the same as any other Barbie dolls? They certainly made it sound special to this doll. So like, can the head be swapped with a made-to-move body that shares the same body type? My guess is no sadly.
However, I do think she is really cute, and her head sculpt is really nice. It's also a very pretty dress. She is a fashionista after all!
So awesome
How awesome
We are all united 😊
Girl Power !
So beautiful!
This is awesome. Inclusiveness and representation is important.
Wonderful!
I love playing with Barbies and their colorful playsets!!!!! I have a special Baby Doll named Ella Rose and she has Down Syndrome just like me!!!! Kayla's dress, holy damn, no wonder they asked her for help designing the doll! :O
That’s pretty cool. And the doll is cute!
I hope this will be a catalyst to help kids understand and value those who are different.❤
