Huge Spencer fan but here we are at 23 semis and Spencer gets stuck by another number 4 seed. Props to ramos for a great match. The level of pressure he felt and he showed up. Gotta love to see them young men show up when their numbers are called.
when nick is old, he can tell his grandkids he pinned the greatest 125 lb Spencer lee at a dual meet that didn't mean anything. when the grandkids ask about his championships, he can just pretend he didn't hear them.

@Arthur Charlie I honestly think the ref was waiting for the period to end cause he knew it was ending at any second but I feel like he knew he couldn't wait no more and had to call the unfortunate pin.

That changed the outcome of the dual meet it was a 12 point swing potentially
4 years removed from this match and it’s so weird to see (the pin obviously) but ANYONE just getting up from Spencer. It’s crazy what 2023 Lee vs 2019 Lee looks like.
Also, being there for this dual is one of my absolute favorite memories.

Flash forward to March 17 2023 Spencer Lee gets pinned again this time in the NCAA semis.
The day right after this is the day Spencer Lee turned into the GOAT.

I have NO IDEA what was wrong with Spencer that year. He'd just ran through the hardest brackets of ANY Nationals the year before, including Pinning Nick. I'm sure it was female issues, they'll always mess with your head.

Nah that’s bullshit. They were clearly out of bounds already. The ref had previously called them out when Lee was about to get a takedown. Lee used that previous knowledge to assume they were out of bounds again and stopped wrestling, but the ref never blew the whistle. Lee was robbed here by a garbage ref and if I was Nick here I wouldn’t accept the win.

No this was in 2019
Actually it was when he was a sophomore. But lee pinned him in the qf of ncaas the year before, and then dominated him in ncaas that year.

Never say never in wrestling, as he was almost pinned a few weeks ago and fell behind 8 - 1 before coming back to win. He might be the best college wrestler, I've seen in over 60 years and I've seen most of them. But, Cael, Dan are every bit as good.
