    With Longines’ recent releases it would be really easy to put together a great the watch collection with just Longines watches. Take this one as your diver, 39mm green Spirit GMT as a complication, and Master Collection small seconds as a dress watch. That’s a heck of a collection under 10k.

      The Black LLD 39 in bracelet, Blue Zulu Time 39, then Master Small Second Salmon in 38.
      Done, you need no more watch.

      I’m hoping I can add the legend or the ultra chron as a diver to complete my 3 watch collection one day

    Just picked up this watch yesterday, absolutely stunning. Had both colors side by side, the black gives it a more formal look. Black also seems to reflect more light making it more 'classy'. However, i went for the blue...it definitely gives it the extra oomph while being subtle. It's also a very unique shade of blue that i dont think ive seen on another watch, which gives it more character. Maybe im not a super dressy person, but IMO it is way more dressy than a standard diver watch with a external bezel. To each their own, but im definitely wearing it with the BoR bracelet for formal occasions, and slapping on a nato/more casual band daily.

      @@nikolaikrustev1159 I'd argue it looks superb on a vintage looking dive watch like the legends diver here. Unless you actually want to dive with it, but that's just obvious.

      @@GU5S Well, looks are one thing, function and purpose - quite another. Never mind diving, with a leather strap you can't swim nor even get your 'dive watch' wet. An automotive analogy would be a FWD only 'SUV' on low profile road tyres.

    I'm new to the watch collecting game but I will say Longines is the company that finally pulled me in. I grabbed a Zulu Time in green and I've got my eyes on several others. I've got my eye the Legend Diver, Hydroconquest GMT, and the Spirit Flyback. Of course I want a watch from most brands but Longines seems to have a great value proposition for the price. Longines are just a great brand and one that actually seem to listen to what their customers want. I have the previous iteration of this watch and the gloss black dial is one of the best out there (at any price point) but the date window definitely spoils the overall look of it. I’m not a fan of a date complication at the best of times but there is just no need for it on the LLD so I’m delighted to see that they’ve done away with it. They’ve turned a great watch into a tremendous watch !!!

    First is the price, how come this new Legend Diver is 300 USD over the HydroConquest GMT?

    Ha, Longines made a Baltic Aquascaphe Dual Crown - one of my favourite watches! ;)

    I find the 2500+ price gap way too large though.

    • @michaelm7557
      @michaelm7557 Před 4 měsíci +1

      The baltic is 800 Euros, the Longines on nato is 3000 Euros.
      Baltic is a brand founded in 2016, so not even 10 years old yet. They put myiota movements in their watches.
      Longines in an old brand founded in 1832, so you have brand recognition, a COSC movement with silicone balance spring and that is what you pay for... it may not worth it for some people, but for some it is.
      Longines started making watches before Rolex, Tudor, Oris, Rado, etc were even being established.
      Is a Rolex worth over 10k? Or a Daytona worth ofer 20k? Or a patek, AP, worth over 50k? Probably not.. no watch is worth ofer 200-300 euros, but we buy them for our pleasure, brand history, specs, movements, status, etc.
      Right now Im waiting for my Legend diver 39mm on nato for 2500 E, got a 10% discount. Worth it? Probably not, but still I would be buying the watch

    I really wanted to like the new 39, but it think that with beads of rice bracelet and no photina- it looses a lot of its character and just tries to please the market. And the price … 😳The only improvement in my opinion is the generous lume.

      That something is the lugs, which have a much more "conventional" and stubby shape on the 39. The 36 and 42 retain the iconic (and IMHO) beautiful lugs of the original Legend Diver, and it's a real shame Longines made the change they did on the otherwise-very-nice 39.

    Cool watch..but:
    1. That bi-coloured lume just looks naff;
    2. Having to unscrew a crown to use the rotating bezel is very impractical for timing things, despite the added security of locking the bezel in place.
    I'd prefer the solution IWC Aquatimer uses (much more expensive though it is) - the inner bezel being operated from the outside.
    While I appreciate the nod to the brand heritage, from what I've red this is just a compressor-looking, not an actual super compressor case.
