    Hi good work thanks.
    Is there any way to get your generators output to 12volt

    Do u have a diagram on how to connect a geni to utility from the main breaker outside .. I don't want to do the connection to the earth leakage as it is not as neat. Kindly assist

    Thank you for the video. Can you use any KVA generator? 2kva 5kva 10kva? Meaning anyone required for your needs or does it need to match the KVA on the breaker?

    what about the earth? Does the generator need to be earthed or is the DB's earthing enough?

    Can we have a video for the circuit with utility feed 3 phase plus backup generator.

    Do you need a breaker between the generator power feed and the changeover switch, or a breaker between the changeover switch and earth leakage?

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  Před 4 lety +2

      the genny has a breaker already on it. It depends on what you are doing, if you connecting to your home, you must have earth leakage with overload protection after genny.

    Hi how much do you charge to set up a house

    On the generator with two output plug points is it possible to connect both to one ip44 connector, to get the most out of the generator to the change over switch?

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  Před 4 lety

      some generators just have those two plugs bridged on the inside of the generator so no you wouldn't gain anything. I suppose by suing both plug points you can increase the current carrying capacity as you are limited to smaller cable to fit in plug top? This is one of my pet peeves, a genny says 4kW or 5kW but then has 16A plug fitting. They should have a high amp connection point.

    How do you know when the main supply comes back on if you are running from generator

  • @antonylendrum4249

    The earth leakage won’t work on the generator unless the neural is bonded to earth.

  • @daki2953

    just buy a double throw switch

    What about the V-0-V issue? Also a plug can not handle the 5kW?

    • @patrickcannell2258
      @patrickcannell2258 Před 5 měsíci

      A V-0-V generator may not be connected to an installation in South Africa. This is in SANS 10142. However you can convert it that the neutral is earthen and the centre tap is no longer earthed. I have converted plenty and made them compliant.

    • @patrickcannell2258
      @patrickcannell2258 Před 5 měsíci

      I add a 32 A plug to handle 5kW or I go straight into the generator.with 4mm cable.

    • @karooboermeyer1115
      @karooboermeyer1115 Před 5 měsíci

      @@patrickcannell2258 yes but the code strictly forbids V-0-V generators from being wired into a house. Measure L-E, you will only get 120V, same with N-E, but L-N you will get 240V. Its a V-0-V

    doesnt having the exhaust exit outside negate the point of building an enclosure? wouldnt you want to dissipate the sound from the exhaust as well?
