    What's their definition of "affordably priced homes"? If it's a million dollars, that's not affordable.

    Why do they keep building homes if no one can afford them?

    • @BeastMacin11
      @BeastMacin11 Před měsícem +5

      People can’t afford homes partially because there’s not enough supply. The belief is if they create enough supply there won’t be as much a demand so the price can drop or at least level out for a bit.

      @@hera7884 yes. People need housing now whereas water shortage affects people more so in the future than it does us today. They are trying to address today’s problems today by building more housing.
      It definitely makes people feel like they shouldn’t cut back on their water usage if permits can be obtained to build housing for multiple people but most people also don’t do things that are considerate of their own future let alone strangers future.

    • @hera7884
      @hera7884 Před měsícem

      @@BeastMacin11 what are you talking about? Water shortages already threaten us. We need water more than we need housing. Do you not realize water is life? Housing isn’t life, look at all the homeless.

    • @BeastMacin11
      @BeastMacin11 Před měsícem

      @@hera7884 there is enough water for OUR lifetime. As messed up as it is politicians have to think of the people today (and growing city’s revenue) a bit more than they do about the future and we already see at what level they’re able to do that at.
      They also stated that this was in the plans all the way back from 2008 so I don’t think any of us going back and forth in the comments is going to slow anything down now that the ball is rolling again.
      Came back to edit my comment because it’s interesting that you ended off with “look at all the homeless” as if that’s not the exact reason why they are creating more housing. The homeless don’t need water because they’re programs that will often times deliver water(granted the city of Sacramento Program did end June 30 so I’m sure homeless people will take any water donations atp) but they do need houses/stable shelter.

    Of course...why to we need farm land? Who needs to eat? Planning commissions are a threat to CA. We are seeing it south of Hwy 50 in Folsom. 40,000 more people as we are rationing water even in a high rain year. Folsom City is crying broke, already our city utilities have doubled, and will triple again at the start of next year and the city council is proposing raising it again and higher city sales tax. Our sidewalks and roads are literally crumbling, but yeah, build out more. I saw 3 coyotes running down my street at 1 am, no doubt misplaced by the new construction. Sacramento county will be completely built on soon and all these M-Fers moving here from the Bay area, and bringing the Bay Area to us.

    I am extremely upset when I see our high quality farmland (and habitat for many lowland animals) torn up for sprawl wherever I see it. These are places we go to breathe and relax, outside of the city. Renovate the city to make it denser, if necessary! Plenty of existing lots that don't require spread into undeveloped land.

    Instead of 3000 million dollar and up homes, build a berm around the property, make it look pretty, then round up homeless and make it their camp. Give them toilets and showers. That's way better than the environmental impact of the automobile based disaster they're planning.
