I’ve learned more important information about history from these videos than my teachers ever taught me
My hometown. Always in the shadows of the Bay Area, but quite an underrated city thats growing fast. Although small, i love our skyline. Very unique skyscrapers and just added 2 more (Natural Resources Tower topped out in 2021 at 344 ft & Sacramento Superior Courthouse this year 2022 at 330ft). Downtown & Mid town adding a lot of vibrant business & mid rise apartments and condos too (too expensive though)
The Sacramento Mall is the epitome of Capitol Malls, absolutely stunningly simple yet beautiful.
Excuse me, are you referring to K Street Mall?!
No such thing. We have Arden, sunrise, galleria, k street which was torn down to build arena
Sacramento really is a beautiful city.. and it's growing due to Bay area Residents migrating to the metro..
The unique aspects are always my favorite parts of your videos! That underground city 🤯
Thanks! Yeah I thought the Sacramento underground was fascinating
Lol Oddly similar to Pokémon colosseum the under at pyrite city for my nerds out there.
I love a good skyline but I think it’s cool to see U.S cities that break away from the standard high rise CBD surrounded by low sprawl. I like seeing different ways cites can add unique buildings and places of interest
As much as I love skylines, I do agree with you. One of my favorite cities is Madison, Wisconsin which is very unique among US cities in regards to its skyline (or lack thereof). On average though, I typically prefer a skyline with a few skyscrapers 🏙
San Diego’s is impressive too without like needing all the giant buildings over looking the vast sprawl. It’s a nice even tight skyline
Sacramento is the world's biggest Cow Town! The Metropolitan area is growing tremendously and it offers several beautiful clean safe communities to live in the area. Sacramento has several fantastic city districts to live
Nah. Not “Sacramento is the world’s biggest Cow Town!” /
Sacramento ain’t no cow town lol
Only reason Sac got the cow town name is cause Sac airport is in the middle of nowhere so flying into Sac international, all u see is fields in that undeveloped part of Sac which a lot of it is Natomas. Sac isn’t sprawling like a lot of other cities tho.
This guy is underratedhis explanation is astounding loke i got all the information i need to move to Sacramento
I live in Sacramento. Its awesome!
Great shots of the city! Tons that I didn’t even know. Shouldn’t expect anything other than greatness from you
Thank you!! I really appreciate that!
My home town. Nice job representing
Thank you!!
Let’s go save town natomas baby
Nice, another upload! They're always awesome to see.
And another encouraging comment from you! Thanks!
4:20 I just had a interview with this department two weeks ago and I’m hoping to start working with them. I’ve always admired this historic building since I was a kid growing up in Sac so it would kind of be a dream to work in this building.
Nice video. Would have been even better with some mention of the Native people who lived there when the Gold Rush changed the area so drastically.
I’m surprised at how affordable Sacramento is compared to most major California cities…..considering it’s the capital, you’d expect it to be more expensive
lol, its not affordable anymore.
@@izzyhezz compared to the LA area, it is
@@haze_2563 right, but it’s also not on the coast and doesn’t have mega city amenities that L.A. has. It’s pretty expensive now considering the location and what it has to offer. Still a cool city, though.
Bay Area lowlifes ruined it for us
@@davisxonmega city amenities like what? Six flags is an hour from Sac, there is NBA, there’s Lake Tahoe, SF not too far.
Forgot to mention anything about the Golden One Center. The city also has a purple beam that shines into the sky whenever their professional basketball team wins.
Yeah I think I'll make an updated video of Sacramento and I'll be sure to include that. Thanks for pointing that out!
Similarly, Fresno is more populous than both Sacramento and Atlanta, but still has a smaller metro population.
Exactly! That’s a great example.
Yeah Fresno metro is over 1 million and most residents in Fresno don’t live close to downtown which is why other parts are growing upwards.
Good Job very very Great Job with this one
Another fantastic video
Thank you!!
Use to live here born and raised now it's to expensive. Beautiful also.
Sacramento is home to several sports teams such as NBA's Sacramento Kings, USL's Sacramento Republic FC, PCL's Sacramento River Cats and NCAA's Sacramento State Hornets.
This taught me so much. This is amazing!
I think metro area, is more important in determining how big a city is than the actual city. Example Jacksonville vs Miami
Sacramento is unique I definitely plan to visit there
Surprised you didn't bring up Old Sacramento, or Whiskey Flats or some of the other cool places in Sac.
Do one of Fresno, CA
I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@CityGeek sweet, its a depressing skyline but bigger city than Sacramento and Long Beach. High crime, but in all nestled between L.A and the Bay
Do one about Tampa Florida I grew up there
Nice video, can you do Dallas next?
Thanks! Yeah I've actually been working on Dallas so keep your eye out for it
@@CityGeek ok, nice. Have you ever lived there
No I haven’t lived in the Dallas area. Are you from there?
@@CityGeek yes
Funny, when I saw the building I said to myself, "That looks like a ziggurat." I was in Sacramento briefly just once and I don't remember seeing it there. It's a shame as I probably wasn't far from it.
Lol yeah it's a really unique looking building!
That building is in West Sacramento, a rapidly growing (and improving...) separate city right across the river...
Fun fact: Sacramento has an amazing drag/lgbtqia+ scene! A place that supports all people ❤
Can you please do Chicago
Columbus OH metro is smaller but ColumBus feels a lot larger. Indianapolis, Jacksonville and Charlotte too. Sac punches below its weight
I don't know that I agree with that. Sacramento has some big city amenities that Columbus does not, which in my opinion makes it feel like more of a "real city"....things like light rail and an NBA team, as well as lots of life downtown. Columbus feels a bit "manufactured" to me, like a Mister Rogers neighborhood of a big city. Which isn't all bad, but to me Sac seems more like a vibrant city overall.
Which one has a bigger
skyline/downtown, Oklahoma City or Indianapolis?
Great question! They are actually really comparable in size. They both have 3 buildings tall enough to be considered skyscrapers, but OKC has the tallest building (844 ft) and is slightly taller if you average the height of the tallest five buildings.
Well I used to live in OKC and I always considered downtown OKC rather disappointing I have been to Indianapolis although it was years ago and I would guess Indianapolis has a better skyline and downtown. Until recently OKC downtown was rather vacant almost abandoned in the last 20 years it's really experienced a transformation and businesses and residents are starting to utilize downtown OKC
as a native of Sacramento, it can get really boring here. Not to mention the traffic is terrible, and even getting to SF is difficult because of traffic. Heading up to Tahoe get boring too, LOL! I mean, seriously, you can only go to the same restaurants so many times! additionally, many of the creatives in the downtown area were forced out due to rising costs, so now it is fully of breweries (how much beer can people drink before it just gets old) and a watered down local music scene that features nothing but bro bands, sigh. Also, it used to be the 'City of Trees' before they changed it to the 'Farm to fork' and will often hold a boujee farm to fork dinner for rich people, blah.
moved here from LA and I agree heavily on the traffic here. LA has terrible traffic too but you can get around in about 20-30 minutes. In Sacramento, it can take up to a damn 40-55 minutes. THE LIGHTS take forever because they are all designated left turns. LA you had to yield for left turns but it was faster saving you 2-3 minutes. I find that if you don't have hobbies then it can get boring here. But I like to stay home, play videogames, and watch movies so it's not too bad. its quite similar to LA but just without amusement parks like Disney and Universal. But those are so heavily priced and packed to the brim now it's not worth it.
Bro i shit u not, i need more of ur vids
Haha I’m glad you enjoy them! I’ll start working on the next one 😊
@@CityGeek I'm very interested in cities, and your way of doing things with the overviews and skyline reviews have been my favorite way of talking about cities. Keep up the amazing work man!
That really means a lot! Thanks so much!
Sacramento need more skyscrapers
The night skyline is weak frfr
So does Fresno.
Why is the Dome of the Capitol black?
I don't live there now i was born October 3 1981 I'm Robert Emanuel long
Peeps from the actual major CA cities (SF, LA, SD, etc) do not think of Sac as the "capital" of CA.
🗳️
California is beautiful don't get me wrong but you damn near got to sell your soul to live out here bro y'all got the highest rent on the planet right now
Can we Sacramento California buy companies to help with transportation and workers shortage like giving over pay with a $7 increase in wages with overtime to make people come to work for 8 hours to help frontline workers.
I raised my two sons not to far from Sacramento and I also lived there for a couple years. I am happy to say I got me and my sons out of that toilet city and state. It's a nasty crap hole and getting worse..
Home of rea Carruth
Not too many trays at all
Nah don’t move here and push all the locals out
Personally, I don't care about skylines. Sometimes, it's that there are no skylines that makes a city great! Why ruin a city's beauty with too many skyscrapers??? Perhaps you don't know this, but there is a law that no older buildings (built before a certain year), can be torn down and must be marked historic. So, this is why there are not as many ugly skyscrapers. They have a much deeper and greater respect for their history!
For me I love skylines. It shows the improvements and advancements in society. It’s grand and gives shade and it looks nice day and night. Especially night if they decide to light up the buildings with leds and shows.
You think skyscrapers are what makes a city?
No but they’re one of my favorite parts of a city 🏙
Yup Sacramento is larger than Atlanta. Metro is not a city.
North west south east apostlic God and the devil and Jesus Christ name amen
Nah. Not doesn’t have any. Not doesn have any. /
Lol
It's not cool there's too many trees in Sacramento
I think Los Angeles is better than Sacramento. We southerners have more entertainment and better weather in LA.
Yeah I mean, Sacramento is a much smaller metro than Sf or LA. But LA is a lot bigger than both SF and Sacramento.
Detroit vs Everybody.
I Left Sac after 20 years and can confidently say how bad its gotten in so many ways. Affordability is awful, Air Pollution much of the year is just terrible, traffic is brutal, homeless problem is third world levels, parks and recreational areas are totally riddled with bums and drugs, gang violence is rampant, restaurant scene is really weak, atrocious schools, pestilence especially in W Sac was disgusting, fires constantly greying out the skies, poor policing, and on and on. I watched how far and how fast it went down in just the last five years and had to go, left Cali and it was the best thing i could have done. California is sinking faster than a iron ingot and wont change. Gonna need a lot more lipstick for that Pig.
I just moved to SAC and I can agree about all that but youll aways find something bad here in California. but im sure theres other states that are similar
May I ask where you move to now that makes you sound like you won the living lottery?
@@jdos5643 Out of a Blue State and into a Red State, out of the City and into the Country, best decision I've made in many many years.
@@justinhorn2395 that wasn’t the question but ok.
Never like Sacramento
"Skyline" What skyline!? Sacramentos skyline is pathetic, lol.
Very poor production with stupendously stupid noise disturbing the narration. Very bad taste indeed.
Do one about port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago
