I was born and raised in Sydney, but my Perth-born wife convinced me to relocate to Perth because she said it was the best place anywhere to bring up a young family, which we had just started. She was 100% correct. There's something to love about so many places in Australia, but WA is special. But sshh, don't tell everyone, or they'll all move here and ruin it for everyone else.
I am the same & will consider moving there when I sort my education out - WA Uni will accept me as a transfer I hope. It was hard to get used to the slower life but just planned better like getting petrol on the way home after 6pm.
Our parks alone are worth families migrating in droves! But I won't tell anyone 😆🤭🤫
@@sg-yq8pm I return to Sydney regularly, it's become a crowded metropolis, enjoy the endless traffic jams, impossible house prices and expensive energy.
Tassie too
Geeezz Peter, you’re not supposed to let the cat out of the bag like that, we don’t want everyone here, if it turned into Sydney that would be dreadful. Hahahaha. Now everyone repeat after me, Perth is terrible, go away.
Born and raised in Perth for 40+ years, been here my whole life. We are the best kept secret in Australia, and we prefer it that way. Please continue to draw attention to Sydney and Melbourne, even Brisbane. We like it quiet here and prefer to be kept out of any prying international eyes lol. Cheers!
Another Perthite here and an American said to me in the 60s -Perth is the best kept secret in the world.
For you oldies yes. Great place to retire, but as that train surfing kid said on tv after getting caught, "there's nothing to do in Perth for kids"!! It's boring ASF!!.. 🙄🤦😂
@@thrusta100 So move! And keep quiet about what you left behind!

I came with my girlfriend to Australia from Ireland 13 years to start our journey to see the world. Though we would start in Perth. We fell in love with the place.married with 3 kids now. Absolutely love the place.!!
Its a large state and we have everything!! No how many times you holiday in the state, you'll still find something amazing you haven't seen and its all unique and picturesque whether North or South of WA.
Cheers mate. Lots of Irish here now,,, lol.. all welcome
I'm in Perth. I wear shorts and bare feet or sandals year round, with maybe a cardigan in winter. Warm to hot summers (30C today) and cool (16C avg) wet winters, no snow or ice. World's best climate IMHO. Great beaches (1.5Km from my house), little congestion, clean, neat, safe. Only 3.3hrs away from Bali, 4.5hrs from Singapore. And well away from danger. Great place to live.
I arrived on first visit in winter - just a tee shirt until the sunset. Mornings can be a bit harsh until the sun warms up.
Next week is Guna suck, high 30's 🥵
well away from danger huh. Great white sharks say come on in, the water's fine.
@@TheZodiacz In the 40's or 50's people swan in Sydney's George's River unaware of the sharks from the harbour swam up - Bull Sharks I think - until someone was taken.
Except for the bull sharks in the Swan🤔
I’m Perth born and bred. That said, I didn’t appreciate Perth until I moved away for a few years. I lived in the UK and the Middle East and ultimately came back to Perth. Are there things I’d like changed or improved on? Sure! But overall it’s a beautiful city all year round.
Hello from Perth! I'm about 15 minutes from Fremantle. My American husband (also from Indiana) absolutely loves it here. We have such a great lifestyle in this lovely state. :)
Well Ryan I had no idea you were watching a silent video about Perth. All I could hear was yourself
I’m wondering if the music in the original was copyrighted.
Perth is a great city, very underrated by Easterners who have never been there. One of my favourite places to visit.
On the other hand, West Aussies tend to dismiss the east without visiting. They fly to Bali or Singapore more than to Sydney or Melbourne. Altho they've grown up a little, Sandgropers still have a huge chip on their shoulder about the east.
The city literally comes alive with lights at night - it's amazing walking through the parks, gardens, buildings even the water features at night - I love going
Dont forget to check the Kimberley region in Western Australia!! It is the opposite of Perth even its in the same state! This is where i live and i feels lucky 🍀
God's country.
Perth represent 🥳 born in Sydney and raised all over Aus, and I’m still in Perth, now bringing up my little girl 🥰 Perth is beautiful and the weather is 🔥 I live in Scarborough (beach suburb) and can confirm the beaches are among the top
Yes Ryan I live in Perth born and raised. It's a fantastic city and I love where I live ... Northam 88km east of Perth . Look it up.
Love your videos. WA🇦🇺
As a Hawaiian born American that moved to Perth as a 2 year old I never knew anything else as home. Until I started travelling,, an wow after seeing a lot of the rest of the world , God I love my home town of Perth, thank my parents so much for there four sight an immigrating to Australia in 1970.
It’s always nice to see Perth through the eyes of another. I often take for granted how beautiful our city and the state of Western Australia is. Sandgroper born and bred. Really is a big country town. We were also fortunate(although some say unfortunate) that for the first 2 years of Covid we lived life as normal apart from travel restrictions.
Lol always a bed at mine if you guys want to come visit
Yeah, we were the butt of some not very tasteful jokes around that time, but we were quite comfortable living a fairly normal life with very few lockdowns and mask events. Unlike Victoria that had all the protests. Had they just locked down properly in the first place, they would have had a shorter lockdown and much more freedom in the long run. But I did have a laugh when Clive Palmer tried to get into WA and the Premier said no way. Palmer took i to the high court and lost, he can stay out as far as I'm concerned.
I do not understand the people who say we were “unfortunate” during COVID. Which part of having almost NO lockdown, NO COVID cases, living a completely normal existence without masks, going to concerts, restaurants, bars, (not to mention being able to go running AND buy a kebab 😂) was bad? WA were absolutely blessed with a responsible, proactive Gov who saved countless lives (and people’s mental health) through their actions. You couldn’t travel interstate during COVID? Oh, my heart breaks for you, what terrible suffering you endured 🙄
@@hannahfreya2326 I totally agree with you. I took advantage and travelled WA. Hadnt seen a lot of my own state. Covid changed that. McGowan and his team were awesome
It was funny when you said shots fired at Central Park. The park you were looking at was Kings park, which is the biggest inner city park in the world and is even bigger than Central Park.
At 400 hectares, Kings Park is 60 hectares larger than Central Park!
Perth is the cleanest city in Australia by a long way. Its something I have noticed but my partner is a flight attendant of several years and she agrees after spending considerable time in every city in the country. It is just a fact. Australia has the largest amount of gold mine reserves on earth and the vast majority of it is in Western Australia, along with a plethora of other minerals. WA also has lots of natural gas too. It is a very lucky place to be.
Perth is as beautiful as it looks in the video. :-) And Western Australia has some incredible sights to see.
Perth born and bred here! Been here all of my 47 years and I just love it. No matter where you go there is always a friendly face to be found. Hope you are able to come out West sometime soon ❤️
Perth is our home ..
our state …it’s absolutely beautiful .. perfect for families ✨
Perth and WA are frickin awesome. Been here 40 years and it’s absolutely stunning!
My Dad retired from the Air Force to here, Perth. I remember getting off a plane from Canberra (previous posting) into a depth of beige landscape. Various and many shades of brown - caramel, wheat, vanilla, beige, mushroom,, camel. A Friend came to get us from Perth Airport, to take us to their country town (Mum, sister, me, and 4mth old sister, Dad and brother driving across the Nullarbor), a huntsman came out of uncle Eric’s car sun visor, while driving at 100 kmph & I lost my shit. Told off for opening the car door before car had stopped. Beige and a sage green. Deep green and unexpected colours. I am a bona fide sandgroper (25 yrs to be called one, 40 yrs now). It is a long way to anywhere else, we like it that way, and is a GORGEOUS place to live.
Chubby Tree is called a Boab Tree. They are smart trees , they store water in their ' chubby part' , to survive the hot dry weather they live through in their natural environment ( in the northern parts of Western Australia). The chubby Tree in the video was driven down and planted in that park , as part of a native tree garden. Perth is my home :)
Not just Australia there are boab tree species that are also native to mainland Africa and Madagascar.
funny thing is i remmember a conversation i had about that exact tree in the video and this conversation of the comment and comment reply lol.
@@1legend517 This particular species is native to Australia.
Also known as Bottle tree....two reasons...can be bottle shaped and hold liquid.
@@flamingfrancis Yeah that's right.
Ads teenager in Perth it’s the best city in the world the climate is immaculate and the culture too.
Obviously Ryan, there are quite a few people on here from Perth, just like me. At the moment I’m having a holiday in a little country town 2 1/2 hours from Perth. Today I went for a swim in the Collie river, just 5km from where I’m staying and it’s absolutely amazing and didn’t cost a thing for the swim. We are so blessed to live here.
Come visit Donnybrook while you're down this way
Hasnt the surrounds of Collie opened up. Potters Gorge, Wellington Dam muriel and now the new Lake Kepwari campsite. A group of us are booked in for the June long weekend. This lake is an old mine that when finished let the water fill in to create this amazing lake. Dumped some white soft beach sand around and walah, beautiful campground.
I'm a Collie local!! Have been here for 12 years now, grew up in nearby town (down the hill) on a farm and love Collie so much, originally moved here for the cheaper rent as a Disability Pensioner and never want to leave. For a small town, we have quite a lot!! We're not far from largest regional area of Bunbury and still a comfortable distance to Perth. I just miss being closer to the coast and really miss the cool sea breezes that I grew up with. It has grown so much as a town in the 12 years I've been here and turning into an amazing tourist town. Our dams, lakes (the most unique blue water loved by TikTok and Instagramers) and National Forrests area amazing!! Not to forget our new Hiking and Mountain Biking tracks, Biggest Dam mural in I think Southern Hemisphere (don't quote me on that but something like that) and our Amazing Wildflower (seasonal) and Mural Trails. Plus the most amazing campgrounds! Not bad for a mining town!!
@@carolw1624 the whole south west is beautiful. Personally I like Honeymoon Pool but it seems too cold for most people, but then there is Minningup pool where it is actually quite warm, thats where I went today. The walks around Collie are marvellous, last year i walked from the main drag to Minningup pool and back in the middle of winter, it was cold and it bucketed down the whole time, by the time we got to the Pool we were drenched. I’ve pretty much done all the walks around Collie, I just love it. A few years ago we went to Wellington dam when it was overflowing it was fantastic. My second best place in WA is Turquoise Bay near Exmouth, it such a delight to go out to mid calf length and see the snapper and fish swimming around your legs, its just amazing.
@@AmandaMitting I’m not a local but I was born in Collie. I love this place, I’d buy in here if it wasn’t for the 2 1/2 hour drive to see my family in Perth.
I live in Perth and it really is a beautiful place to live
Perth has a strong sense of confidence and self assuredness. I'm from the east and Perth rocks.
No. The inferiority is so felt
Born in Adelaide, raised in Perth, and for some reason, everytime I have tried to move away from Perth, I always come back. When I saw my city from a Tiger Moth cockpit, the way it looks from the air 😍 I completely fell in love with a city I thought I just tolerated 🙄 it's so beautiful. Home for 37 years 🤘🦘🤘
Oh yeah, there's no audio but it still works just with visuals
I too was born in Adelaide and moved to Perth at aged 27. I missed my family and S.A. a lot but although I've been back a few times, it's W.A. that I love more, after 50 years of living here.
Ahh thank goodness. I thought it was just me that couldn't hear it. :P
Here's another one that shows some of the beaches around the south west.

Been to Perth a few times. The people are just as friendly as the the scenery is beautiful.
LOL. Thu don't talk to each other. No one in my street wants to talk to neighbours. Ridiculous
As a proud Perthling I’m pleased to see you enjoyed seeing my home city. I’ve lived all over the world and Aust. Perth is as good as any city gets imho. It really is a beautiful city It’s also kind of special as there is a lot going on but it’s rarely crowded and you have spend time opening doors and peering behind things and boom it’s all going on. Not as showy as east coast cities. Perth just does it’s thing. You would enjoy it.
Perth is the best city in Australia. Have lived and worked in them all but Hobart. First visited on holidays with family back in 1976. I was ten. And am here in Perth right this minute. So yep, like the place. And to other older Perthites, catching the Jets at the Generator Saturdays, then at The Raffles on Sundays. And not forget Pinochios in the city and Scarborough/ Observation City for beach days. Great memories.
I moved to Perth from Sydney 23 years ago. Never looked back. Awesome city.
Perth is a laid back city of 2.3 million. The metropolitan area stretched 120 kms north to south along the coast. Inland the suburbs stretch about 40 kms making Perth the second longest city in the world
I think Perth is now 150km long and number one.
That is correct.
It isa shame the urban sprawl is getting bad. We'll destroy what makes Perth beautiful if we keep doing that.
Our beautiful Perth love ,love,Perth
Perth is also only a few hours away from the famous Margaret River wine region - which is Australia's most Bordeau-like climate and soil structure. If you don't want to travel that far then about 20 - 30 minutes will take you to the Swan Valley which is also an excellent (but not Bordeau-like) region of lovely wine.
perfect places to bring your eco-friendly refillable goon pillow bags.
We just need more trees. It’s a hot place and shade makes it bare able. Love living here ( have lived London, Sydney, Vancouver and Melbourne) perth is just chilled and an easier place to live.
Yep its barren ASF, and not a good look, compared to leafy Brisbane/ Adelaide, and it's pretty fkn boring!.. 🤦🙄😂
I’m Born and bred In Perth. We have the best beaches and laid back lifestyle. It’s the sunniest city in Australia. It’s incredibly clean city and it’s a wonderful place to raise a family. Only thing thats missing for us is snow. So we travel twice a year to the snow. Happy days 😊
We have recently moved to Perth from the Eastern states of Aus and it is absolutely stunning, such a beautiful place to live with the best beaches ❤🏖️
Where you see all those grape vines is in the Swan Valley (less than 5 minutes drive from where I live) and it is home to quite a few world class vineyards and wineries as well as breweries and local producers of everything from honey to cheeses
Ya probably near me lol I'm 10 mins to the Swan Valley atm (road works permited)
@@crazymusicchick Probably. I'm in the general Midland area,
I am 3 and a half hours south of Perth. Paradise down here. The chubby Tree was a Boab from the North West of the state. There have been a number of Gold Rush's in Australian history.
Yaaaay!! Thank you so much for looking at WA! We are the most isolated capital city in the world, and also the sunniest capital city in the world. It’s closer to travel to Indonesia or Singapore from Perth than it is to any other city in Aus. We get very ignored by the rest of the country because we’re so far away. But there’s beauty in that isolation. We have 50% of Aus’s native flora and fauna, and our state has everything from tropics, desert, mountain, Mediterranean, very dramatic southern coastline (with sand so white it’s like snow and squeaks under your feet). I’m Freo (Fremantle - Perth’s port city) born. I’ve lived all over the world - Kenya, Switzerland, France - and travelled extensively (every continent except Antarctica), also lived in Sydney - and there is something special about WA. Watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean at one of our amazing beaches (which often times you have all to yourself!) - enjoying a glass of wine or beer - watching the dolphins, black swans, galahs, cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets etc… there’s nothing like it 🥰
Where are the black swan's now, ?
Kings Park is the largest city park in the world. I find it absolutely amazing that it was slated to be a park from almost day 1 and not rich housing with fantastic views!
Edit: Kings Park isn't the largest, as someone commented, I was rather incorrect, it is the largest INNER CITY park
I was born and bred about an hour south of Perth but I now live in a suburb of Perth. I'm surprised they didn't include any quokkas or penguin island
The weather here is AMAZING! You can get a bit of sun year round, even though we do get the same amount of rain as London, it falls on much much fewer days! My Irish husband said he never wants to go back to Ireland as the lifestyle here is exactly what he wants, sailing, fishing, boating, the beach.
Chugach State Park in Anchorage (AK) Established in 1970, the state park is the largest urban park in the world located entirely within its metropolitan area,
@@bera0014 there you go! After a quick google I was rather incorrect, though I'm sure I read it somewhere 🤔 ohh well, I stand corrected and will edit my comment
Ahh, it is the largest INNER CITY park... lol, but different than urban!
Born overseas, grew up in Sydney & moved to Perth over 30 years ago. I came with a mass influx from the Eastern States in the early 1990's. The Eastern States has a lot to offer, but Perth has the right balance of so many things that makes living here, the best, as far as I'm concerned. It's a city but doesn't have the crazy fast pace of stress normally associated with city life. It's kind of where country meets city from my perspective. You still have all the modern conveniences but can easily access farm produce. People are friendly which you don't expect in a city environment. If you love the outdoors lifestyle, especially for raising kids, then this State is optimal. It really is the best kept secret.
Being a kiwi living in Wellington, my partner and I visit the eastern seaboard of AU yearly- Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns. Have never been as far as Perth though- its a 8-9 hour flight away. But would love to, so thanks for reacting to this vid, it has inspired me to do some research into our next trip to oz 🙂
Perth is well worth a visit. Soooo much to see.
Beware! Kiwis come here, never leave.

I lived in Perth for 12 years and absolutely loved it. Only cam back to Adelaide because of aging parents. I still, to this day, miss the weather in Perth especially in winter!
It's so lovely and so much to do. The state itself is HUGE! The same flying time to fly from Perth to Broome as it is Perth to Adelaide and you're still in the same state when going to Broome.
Perth is really quiet.
That’s a good thing
(SHHHHH!)
Perth and WA in general is the best kept secret. The east are more than happy to bag us from time to time and complain that we're so far away but we prefer it all to ourselves!!
Damn right. Qld death nights. Very quiet
I lived in Perth as a child from ages 6 - 13 but my dad was in the airforce and he got posted to Queensland so I grew up there. I love Queensland, but in 2018 I spent a week in Perth with my mother as we were going on a cruise out of Fremantle, and as soon as we landed in Perth I felt like I was coming home. I really wished I had finished growing up there and I want to go back someday.

Born in Perth and always have lived here. Not overcrowded with people and the city is great. The beaches here are some of the best. If your really wanted to come for a holiday your probably better of going down south to some place like Margaret River, there are lots of things to see and do down there. 1 thing I do have to say is that here in Perth we have Adventure World and compared to America, Adventure World isn't much but I personally find it better than Luna Park in Sydney.
You are so appreciative of our country. You don’t judge. You are funny. You have taught me so much about my country that I was not aware of.
Bravo to you.
I’m NSW born…Brisbane lived…Adelaide live currently….visited Perth and the true Australian landscape was breathtaking. I found myself captivated by the rocky beaches, the red dirt and incredible food and wine. The place is picturesque and charming. I could live there easily.
The "Chubby" tree is a boab tree which is native to the Kimberley region
The strange the is a succulent, the chubby tree a bottle tree it grows where it might not rain fro year so it store water in its trunk. There have been a number of gold rushes in Australia. As is the oldest land on earth, how did the donos get else where? It was all connected once.

That statue (that you say is screaming) is The Caller by Gerhard Marks, it's in a beautiful area outside the Perth Art Gallery, Perth Museum, and the Battye Library. It was presented by CSR Limited in 1982 and dedicated to all Torture Victims and Survivors on the 1st United Nations International Day.
Presented by CSR for victims of torture…… ironic considering their role in the mesothelioma Wittenoom tragedy…..clean up your messes before spending $ glorifying your company, by all means help victims of any kind…..anonymously would be the classy way after the dark and gruesome sword of Damocles situation for every person who ever worked or lived in Wittenoom. The “Wittenoom children”are dying now, those aged 55-70 who spent time, for one 5 year old it was a mere year…..yet his children who cared for him throughout this gruesome, painful and dreadful disease-and future grandchildren , all robbed of their future….the many nieces , nephews, brothers, sisters, friends and sadly, his elderly parents …..shame on csr. In spite of compensations happening, the amount is always an insult to the people who lose their loved ones and their future…..why doesn’t the fine fit the crime for big business
There have been several gold rushes in Australia, I think in every state and territory.
Perth is nice. I have never seen the big cities on the east side. I am envious of how easy it is to travel from city to city there. It can feel quite isolated here especially when you can’t afford to fly.

Perth is heaven! Been here 40 years!
Same😁came here from England aged 14 in 1982. It’s an amazing place to live. Absolutely glorious.
As someone who lives in Perth (well, Rockingham actually, which is about 37 mins south of Perth), I consider myself very lucky. It's a beautiful city. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. King's Park is huge and overlooks the city on a hill top. The ANZAC war memorial featured in the video is here, as is the huge Botanic Gardens.
If you head West from the mainland, you have Rottnest Island which was featured. Stunning place to visit.
If you head East, you have the Darling Scarp/Range of hills of natural bushland and forest. We have many National Parks around Perth and in the South-West of West Australia.
Head south past Rockingham/Mandurah/Bunbury towards Busselton and Dunsborough you have fabulous wine country. The landscape is full of natural forests, magnificent coastlines (Cape Naturaliste), underground caves to explore (Ngilgi/Mammoth/Jewel/Lake/Calgardup). Head North of Perth you'll come to the Pinnacles, ancient limestone formations that are millions of years old.
Check it out... and you definitely have to come here one day.

When you were talking about "there was a gold rush in Australia as well", Kalgoorlie Western Australia is one of the biggest regions for mining gold on a large scale, we are talking about a massive gold field in terms of size and scale of the operation
I believe the Kalgoorlie super pit is either the biggest or one of the biggest open cut mines in the world. It's approximately 3.5km long, 1.5km wide and 600m deep, when they are finished with that and it inevitably fills with water which it may well do after its no longer being mined, that thing will be basically deep enough to crush some submarines under the water pressure.
@@MrGeneralScar and now even the Super Pit has been surpassed by the Newmont Boddington Gold Mine, also in WA. Our state is incredibly rich in mineral resources
@@Steve_P_B Yeah I wouldnt be surprised, I have not really kept up with that since my Dad retired from mining, if its mined in WA he probably mined it at some point. Just the ones I know about was he mined lead, opals (i think this one was in NT), diamonds, iron ore, gold, nickel, bauxite (alumina), coal, and probably lithium as well. I am not sure if he was part of the uranium mine up north or not but he worked on many other sites up north so probably. Be brought back sample jars from most of them which we still have somewhere I think.
@@MrGeneralScarand that's not even a complete list of everything mined here which just goes to show how rich in mineral wealth the state is
@@Steve_P_B He retired in the year 2002, so much more would have happened since then. In his later work life he spent stints working in places other than mine sites, one of which was building a new sea wall on christmas island for over a year. He was a bulldozer operator.
Born and raised in Perth WA for 64 years and wouldn't want to be anywhere else 🙂
I live in Perth. I like living here even though it's over 2,000 kms to the next closest city. I think you would enjoy Perth and what the whole of Western Australia has to offer. Cheers Judy.
Bunbury, Geraldton and Albany are cities. None are 2,000K away. Bunbury is about two-and-a bit hours drive. Mandurah a city? Closer.
I love the area Perth to Margaret River, and something common to almost everyone I met there during my several visits is that they speak. Most also have ears. Obviously, you are unaware of these traits. 🤔🤭🙄
You do realize we can't hear the video you're reacting to, right?
there is no sound on the actual video
I’m from Perth and we’ve got winery, truffle farm in down south which is one of the best in the world. Come and visit to Perth and chill out.
Hey Ryan. If you do manage to get here,we will definitely get on the piss. cheers for ya content
I normally live in Victoria, but spent one year in Perth ( 25 years ago ). It rained for a total of about two weeks. The rest was bright sunshine.
