The music score of this film is absolutely incredible. This scene with Maurice and Scudder I didn’t want it to end. I loved the happy ending they received. And this score being played in the background makes this scene 10 times better I absolutely love it
While watching the movie I can't help but think these are two separate pieces - the first, the tense, us not knowing if Alec is in the boathouse, just finishing the stressful drama with Clive, and the second more melancholy part when Maurice and Alec finally meet. How perfectly intertwined, song and movie, how masterful.
1:22 The theme that starts here just destroys me because it still has this melancholy edge, but it's also so comforting and sweet. This movie is always such an emotional ride for me.
Wasn't this a beautiful scene, to have things work out all right. :) It's one of the most romantic films I have ever seen. Maurice happy; but to see Clive in a state of claustrophobia was tough to take. I love this movie.
it pains me that this score, and most of Mr. Robbins' works, for the matter haven't had a physical re-release in decades, and aren't available to stream anywhere, i guess it has to be a rights issue since he is no longer with us. Such a shame, because i'd get all of them with no hesitation, but especially this one, since it's my favorite score written by Robbins for a Merchant Ivory movie, only this track is extraordinary
Why can't people make romance films like this nowadays, with a beautiful score, and amazingly directed and written?
I think brokeback mountain is very beautiful too
@@gilipollas6179 the pedophila though.....
"Now we shall never be parted...it's finished" 😍
It's a wonderful scene, is it not?
"Now we shan't never be parted... It's finished [in Alex's dialect - - uneducated and true]
That part is so heartwarming. I loved them together.
💗
Fuck that gets me every time

While this track brings peace, the next will destroy you.
uh oh!
clive and ann is my favourite piece of the soundtrack, purely for the sheer intensity of the emotions it envokes. it's so beautifully tragic.
@@Chris-wd6yqyes, my favourite, too.
This music is so hauntingly beautiful, and the scene it leads to of such natural love and passion. It makes me cry. Such beauty!
Alec Scudder is most Confident being, i have ever saw.
