  • From www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pag... - Hayward and Jacuzzi are the two main types of pool return fitting that will be encountered in vinyl liner swimming pools. This video shows the correct orientation of the gaskets and faceplates to avoid damage and potential for leaking.

Very helpful thank you. I believe I have the Hayward and was planning to use two gaskets.

Great information. Can I change my jacuzzi flange only without digging. My screw was just spinning and I managed to remove it but the hole medal part came out with it. Or should I just epoxy that medal piece back in. Gonna be changing my liner this season. Tks

Not sure which ones I have in my pool, but I do know I can see a black gasket on them underneath the faceplate. And when you rub those gaskets it puts black marks on your fingers….I recall from another video of yours this means the gasket needs to be replaced.
Maybe I go for a swim and see if I can spot a brand name on my faceplate. And if it’s Hayward, I’m thinking when I close the pool and lower the water below the return lines….I should just remove those gaskets?

Steve, what is the correct way to connect the plumbing on the back of the Hayward? I have these and it looks as thought the threads on the back are not tapered and bottoms out before completely tightened using a pvc to pipe fitting. This is making it difficult to seal. Thanks for the video and reposnse.

Hi Steve, do you have any instructional video on how to replace a Jacuzzi return fitting? I have a crack in mine - right where the threading is where you would attach the eyeball. It's causing a leak in the pool, which gets worse when the pump is on and a lot worse when the eyeball is in. Not sure if you do service calls, but I live in markham and could use your help!

Thanks Steve. I am just wondering, what if only one gasket is used for jacuzzi type? Is this going to be a problem?

what about the returns on steps. I have a gap in mine that I think is letting water fill up the steps on the inside. pool guy told me to caulk it but its a really big gap. Could something have fallen loose? I am having trouble finding information on step returns/jets and installation

Then why does Hayward supply you with 2 gaskets?

No offence, but I think the title of your video is misleading. You focus entirely on the differences between return assembly equipment made by Jacuzzi and Hayward. This is useful information, but it tells me nothing about the installation of a pool return. This would be welcome information because I can find no instructive information that deals with this topic in a step-by-step way .
I have a return fitting -- brand unknown -- that is cracked where the (male) eyeball holder screws on. I'm not sure if this can be fixed entirely from the pool side of the fitting, or if I must get at it from the deck side by cutting through the concrete. I also need information on how things are fitted together on the deck side -- presently inaccessible until I dig -- in order that I can decide whether or not to tackle this job myself. And you certainly have the knowledge and experience to be able to supply this useful information. I'm disappointed.

+Brandon Jones No offense, but I'm disappointed with your comment. So next time if you are looking for free, professional advice, perhaps you could ask nicely instead of criticizing a video that I made that does not meet your needs. You are correct that I do have the knowledge that you need, and normally I would be explaining how to resolve your problem instead of typing this right now. Instead, I am offering you this other tidbit of free advice - if you want something from somebody perhaps a pleasant, respectful attitude and genuine appreciation would be your best bet. Good luck with your pool.

Wow! You have a very thin skin. I did not criticize your video. In fact I praised it. I was simply offering a suggestion regarding the misleading title. I would have hoped you would take the comment as helpful and constructive.
