Trigger isn't playing dumb, the only reason he said that Del said Rodney was too dumb to accept responsibility, was because thats what Del always says about "Dave" Rodney. If you watch the rest of the episode theres nothing in it for Trigger for Rodney being VP, and there is no further evidence in the rest of the series of trigger being sly and putting on his slowness. And we all know someone who is terrible with names, and calls people the wrong name often repeatedly, it is like many things with Only Fools and Horses an observation on life and the people which inhabit it, the running joke is it never sinks in with Trigger, because he's slow.

Roger Lloyd-Pack who played Trigger, played a completely different character but equally funny role in "The Vicar of Dibley" from 1994 to 2007 another fantastic cast and sitcom series that you need to check out

Trigger is just dumb, full stop, but comes out with some clever sounding things sometimes, just like Stan Laurel did. Just when you think he is having a moment of lucidity, he digs himself back in the pit of dumness.. ...very funny.

Other than the first 3 series (I think), all the outside shots were filmed in Bristol. Nelson Mandela House was a block of block of flats overlooking Ashton Gate stadium, the home of Bristol City F.C. and the Bristol Bears rugby union team who topped the premiership last season.

I grew up in the UK on this BRILLIANT masterpiece! I still love it to this day! I don’t think that Trig is playing dumb. I think he absolutely is. I think the joke here is the dumb guy somehow getting one up on the supposedly smarter one. Oh Felipe, you looked awkward when asked about any special favors you have needed from people in the past. It looked like you were trying to avoid that one at college, when you asked Lillian’s friend where she hangs out after class, and paid them off to keep it a secret!! STALKER!!!!! Of course, because Lillian is SO SMART, it was the library!!! 😂😂😂 I know that wasn’t ‘reverse psychology’ but I couldn’t resist!

CZcams channels like yours are great for creating transatlantic friendships. A friend in Georgia was having a bit of fun with me over the "Dave's not here" thing, which she had to explain was Cheech and Chong by sending me the link to the CZcams clip. I'd never heard of them in the UK. In return, I tried to convince her my real name was Rodney, and "Dave" was just my Google account and sent her the link to this clip, which is also my favourite from the show. Now, when she says hi, I sometimes just say "Dave's not here" and it all starts all over again!

Filipe, you have discovered the way to get people to do what you want them to do at work. Some like to be ordered, some like a simple request, and some need to be made to feel they are doing you a favour as a friend, I used to try different things with new employees to find out what works for them. I had a problem with a mentally handicapped guy which took weeks to sort out, as he would not do his tasks on time, holding up production. I told him off about a task which should take no longer than 20 minutes, and he claimed it could not be done that fast, so I had to prove it to him by doing in front of him in just 12 minutes. Next time I just reminded him and said "I bet you can't even do it in 20 minutes" to which he replied "Bet I can" and he did it in 15. After that, whatever the task I just had to say "I bet you can't do it in X minutes", and it worked like magic every time.

A manager at company I worked for several years ago called a salesman sat nav, his name was Sat Nam. When I worked for a minicab company many years ago the night controller started calling me Dave, so the drivers called him trig, when asked why he called me Dave, he said because he had been watching a program which featured a character called Dagenham Dave and I lived in Dagenham at that time.

Trigger became dumb, but this was not the case in the very early series in which he was portrayed more as a shifty small-time crook. Later on the writer (John Sullivan) turned him into a council worker who is rather challenged in the brain department, as this was funnier.

Unfortunately Trigger is acting dumb because he is dumb that's the whole point of his character. There was never any psychology in any of the Only Fools and Horses episodes. They were written for comedy centering on Del Boy being the "crafty cockney", basically getting away with anything he could for a few quid.

Of Postmodern family theory can be defined as a rejection of the ideas that there is universal progress in human history, that rules and norms are static (apply to everyone in the same way) and that family is the basis for learning about self. ... Postmodernists take this same expansive view to the definition of family.
