Miri Mogilevsky will be joining us from Columbus, Ohio. They are a writer and mental health therapist. Raised in a secular Russian Jewish immigrant family, they turned to ritual as a way to cope when they were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017. Miri is passionate about crafting, being outdoors, sharing knowledge with others, and caring for their plants and cats.
In this presentation, Miri will share their experience as a secular cancer survivor to show how ritual can be invaluable for non-religious folks navigating traumatic or otherwise difficult situations. The presentation will cover what ritual means, how to create inclusive, non-appropriative rituals, and why creating community using ritual can be so healing and meaningful.
