unpopular opinion but i think bookslumps are actually good for you (or at least for me). Its normal to feel like not doing something from time to time even if its something you enjoy, and after taking a break of not reading, coming back to books and reading feels so much more enjoyable
i think this is such a great perspective. reading is a hobby not a chore and hobbies should be enjoyable. if you’re not in the mood to read, then there’s no reason to force yourself to.

not putting the pressure on HAVING to read and just taking your time to make sure you're enjoying on your own terms is the best best best thing for book slumps. its supposed to be fun!!
Big on the reread advice! Almost every time I'm in a slump I reread the Percy Jackson books and it helps every time

I love your advice! I recently started reading after finding your video as I never read because I found it boring. I hated it due to it being forced upon me as young child. So I hated it. But now I have found a genre I like and I have time for reading when commuting and before bed. It’s been the best thing ever. I want to read more books as time goes on! So thank you Destiny 😊
tip #2 is so true!! I read Throne of Glass in high school as the books came out, but once Kingdom of Ash came out, I didn’t feel like I was in the place to read it and enjoy it. Fast forward to this year and I was in a two month reading slump. I picked the series back up as a reread and ended up finishing the series finally after like 8 years lol. It got me out of my slump so highly recommend a reread
the do-over by lynn painter is also really really good, and it's not quite as long. it's about a girl who has a bad valentine's day and gets stuck on a time loop. it's so fun to see her trying to get out of it while also just living her life. it's not repetitive at all, and it's just super cute.

One of the things I always do is read another genre! If I've read a lot of romance I try to read fantasy or mystery. If I've read a lot of heavy books I will pick up a light and fluffy read

When it picks up, it picks up! The ending made me cry, the way it deals with friendship is so beautiful. I hope you end up liking it. I really enjoyed the audiobook and used it on and off. It def helped since it’s so long!

Also also easy thrillers like Riley sager, the silent patient, no exit etc. I find the accomplishment of finishing a good book in good time makes me wanna read more. And a page turning thriller does that like no other!!

I’ve been in a lot of book slumps, and the worst part is, it’s my first year with kindle unlimited, and I feel like I’m not using KU to its full potential and it sucks, but hopefully this video helps me out of a slump 💜

I was in a slump last summer and I DNF’d red rising and the other day I was in the mood to give it another try and now I’m obsessed
I started reading the ACOTAR series and went through the first 4 books just like that - before ACOSF I noticed that I was excited about the next book but also craving a litter read - two Lynn Painter books later I started and could really get into the story again. I think it’s important to listen to yourself and not just read something.

Tip # 3 is funny too me because 2022 I picked up crescent city to get me out of a 2 year slump. It took me like 2 months to finish the book, but hey it made me fall back in love with reading 😂

I would also combine two tips and recommend listening to YA romance books as audiobooks. Short and sweet + if you miss something because you're doing something else it's probably not too important

The Cruel Prince triology singlehandedly got me out of my reading slump this year. Its not the best books ive ever read, but the worldbuilding is super easy to understand. And while literally EVERY CHARACTER🙄 in the books is so mean I applaud the main character for her perserverence. Most characters in books fight for justice, but not Jude. She fights for straight up revenge. Slay girl💅
