- Summer is here
I need you so
We'll be together
Once more, I know
Darling, I'll hold you
Deep in the night
'Cause when I hold you
Everything is all right
Because I love you so
We'll go strolling
Through the park
And I'll caress you
Somewhere in the dark
And then, my darling
I know you'll see
You are the only love
In this world for me
Because I want you so
Tell me you love me
Make me a king
For you, my darling
I'd do anything
Because I love you so
Ooooooooooh! - Hudba
The Chantels' background singing give it a slightly sad and haunting beauty.
I was 7 in 59 but i love this
I was 9.
I was minus 22.
I was also 7 in 1959.
Barrett does a superlative job with the lead. his high tenor up front is just right with Chantels providing a subdued, tasteful background... This is a 'keeper' and Barrett is deserving of our increased attention for his vocal prowess
Beautiful, magical song. Perfect mix of lead vocal and angelic background. Man, do we need 1958 all over again! I was 14 and listened to radio late at night to a gentler world.
true, a magic melody! another evening, listening to this song 2, 3 or 4 times before I go to bed! This is nov 2020!
Soul music after midnight in some cities which wouldn't play race music
I was 18. This song made me dream...
THE Jerry Rice?
@@johnparks6376 Football HOF player Jerry Rice was born in 1962. I was already 18 then.

..
This is truly a beautiful summer song
Chantels were very pretty .And the handsome young man had a very nice voice.
Pure Gold. This is the way music was meant to be...
Nobody can chant like the Chantels, nobody
💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟
I can’t get tired of this song I can have it on replay and just sit back and enjoy my night
Just a fantastic bit of music. Richard's voice is so plaintive and The Chantels' harmony is impeccable.
They are great singers
Richard Barrett, one of the most under rated singers of all time. Had no solo hits. Had hits as a member of the Valentines. Great producer for many groups.
Don't know if I agree with the underrated singer comment but I certainly agree with the producer comment. Little Anthony and the Imperials, the Chantels and the Three Degrees to name a few. Quite a resume!
Beautiful ❤
Sure wish they still made music like this
"Summer Love.".........This song from 1959......Is sooooo Beautiful.....

So romantic😍💕🙌🏼
One of the greatest doo wop ballads of all time(both Versions) . Too bad it is so unknown except for Die-Hard fans. My opinion.
Super record. How the heck I missed this in 1959 I really don't know.

I love the name, Porky," Porky must've been a cool motorskooter, as they say, back in the day!
This classic was played on Cool Booby B on 50s on 5 Satellite radio. It is a true classic and the backup Chantels are really talented too.
Richard Byrd sings the song so beautiful you can't hear one time you got to get it again here it again to get it again rest in peace Richard Barrett rest in peace

@@okrewrecordz ¿En serio me lo dices?
@@josemariaespinosa3523 Asi es viejo, este tema salio en el 59, accion Sanchez la sampleo para ovarios y pelotas.
This should have been a bigger hit! Beautiful song!
perfect
Perfect pairing...RIP Richard.
Very good
I love this beautiful song
This man was a lost treasure song is so beautiful I just love that man song
Cynthia you have the most beautiful taste in songs. Thank you.
Thank you very much Bill Kirschenbaum , Sorry just found your comment...
Beautiful Song...
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. His voice here was velvet and the Chantels sang like angels! If you don't know it, checkout the version by Tony Rice on Princeton, too - more magic. (And check out Richard Barrett's "Some Other Guy," a Ray Charles-styled track that should have been a hit - and a cover of which was almost The Beatles' first 45!)
Sooo Beautiful "Summer Love" 1959..
i just played this song last night i think but a nice song for sure thank you Cynthia
Thanks Peter..Yes this is one of my favorites
Swift song as a true Masterpiece of who this man really was he was a sheer Genius I just love this song in The Chantels just finish it off cuz I love them too

WOW espectacular 👏
Beautiful piece.
Omg so beautiful
Nice rolita
ULTRA FINE.
How did I miss this one back in 1959. One of my top 10 songs
Extraordinary haunting DooWoper
Barrett's high tenor is a perfect match with The Chantel's, who he discovered (along with Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers)
Richard Barrett was a Poor Man's Berry Gordy (Motown). In The UK Documentary he managed the Career of The Three Degrees who went through various Group changes. He always reminded them that he could "replace" them. Kind of a veiled threat.
amazing i love it nice one
Q grande accion sanchez y zatuu
TRES Cool
Gotta say this is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard in my lifetime.
Richard Barrett was a genius in my opinion.
Thanks so much for this outstanding video!
Doowop is the best
check out "believe me " by The Skyliners..........written by Mr R Barrett.
wonderful for sure
I think that Richard wrote "Look In My Eyes" for the Chantels.
the boy whipped it this is louie louie richard berry
Nope, it's Richard Barrett, not Richard Berry.
a quick question does anybody know when this song was recorded was Arlene Smith still with the Chantels?
!!
I think that Richard's version of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes on MGM in 1958 is better than the Platters. My opinion.
If we had good doo whoop today we wouldn't. Have all these crimes today believe me
This was from 1959..2/13/15
Hey.. Glad you are enjoying the songs
Welcome over +Lolka B
Welcome over my dear friend.. Glad you enjoy the music here.. You too have a great channel..
DIỆP KHUÊ
Look for Richard Barretts version of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes on MGM. I like it better then the Platters. A great record.
Did he sing Some Other Guy too ? The voice is absolutely different there....
Yep, he did. He copied Ray Charles' voice for that one.
That song almost became The Beatles' first single, but they held out for an original composition. Music history might have been very different. The Beatles' version is very good, but Barrett "owned" it from the first note.
👌🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️
