I'm from Amityville also and I went to Copiague High School with these guys! They are from left to right, Bobby Deloney, Plinio Ruiz, Ralph Darden, Freddy Miller and Tony Jones. Great song and yes, it should have been a hit!
would you please tell your relative what a great record he made here. I was a top 40 DJ for many years and must have played this song 1000 times and have never tired of it. Just brilliant. Thanks.
Beautiful lyrics ,melody and nice pics of these handsome fellows.I was born in 61" but fell in love with this song after hearing it in 2002 on our Baltimore radio station , DJ Allen Lee Oldies but Goodies."Old soul at heart. Thanks for keeping love alive.

I'm from Amityville too...loved this song and spent years looking for a copy of it. Finally found it at Whirling Disks in Farmingdale and then later on youtube! Used to dance to this at the Legion dances on Sunday afternoons in 'the ville'.
I have been looking for this song seems like forever and I've finally found it. My mother would have me sing this with her every once and awhile and I never knew all the words.

How did I miss this one from '61? I just played it ten times! I love it! How was this not a hit?! Does anyone out there know if any of these guys are still around?

These are singers, real singers.Freddy Miller on lead, with his unique style and great writing ability.Plinio Ruiz, first tenor natural here, and without exaggeration the greatest falsetto singer on planet earth. He taught me so much about how to do it right, as far as diction, and tone,His leads are amazing and he has an ear like Ive never heard since. He can move in and out with runs and riffs that you weren t aware were there. He created like Phillippe Wynn of the Spinners. and Tony Jones on bass.A fine bass and a great personality.Bobby Deloney,a great guy who was very smooth and Ralph Darden, who I didn t know as well as the other guys.Im Brucevob. My videos are on You Tube.Chain Gang,OOh Baby Baby,You Can Depend on Me.Vocal, without instruments.I sang with them on different fun get togethers.Great guys.
Thank you for your kind words about my father Plinio Ruiz. He was an amazing singer and father and he is greatly missed. If anyone has more of their music can you please post? My sisters and I unfortunately do not have the records. They were lost in a move.
I'm a big fan of The Universals' "Green veined orchid" and finally found their another song! czcams.com/video/Sfjp-JRxw78/video.html If I'm wrong, I'm so sorry but this is also gooood song! I'm Japanese and live Japan so it is hard to investigate about them. I'm happy to see their schoolmate talking about their beautiful memory!
