- The Best Outdoor Pants For Bushcraft and Hiking? | Fjällräven Vidda Pro vs Montane Super Terra
In this video we take a detailed look at the outdoor trousers I wear and then decide which is best. I've used these pants a great deal and I'm more than happy to recommend them.

Much love. Hazy
It doesn't matter if you call them trousers, pants, kecks, slacks, britches, pantaloons , leg shirts, shin warmers or cock covers . It's time to put it all to one side and join together as one! ❤️
ps sorry for saying pants instead of trousers 😔
cock covers hahahaha the only one I never heard before!
I just made it up now
Strides
Pin sheaths
Everyone loves you 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m sure it’s only bants x you out so much into your vids and provide much needed enjoyment in these dark times 👍🏻 keep the going pant king 😂😂xxx
These are the kind of reviews I want to see more on CZcams. Not the instagram airsoft larper types who expect you to believe they've fully reviewed a sparkling clean piece of kit with zero dirt.
This man shows off two pairs of pants that were clearly run hard and loved and lived in.
I love you Hazy so every time you said pants instead of trousers I died a bit inside.
😂
I don't know what's real anymore mate. Stay tuned for next weeks sneaker reveiw ✊🍄✊
😂😂👖🩲
Pants are northern, northerners will piss in your sink!
Trousers are southern, southerners will pass out after half a shandy 🤘🍻
@@HazeOutdoors what ever you do is top mate. Funniest, realest chap out there.
Solognac trousers from decathlon are really awesome and very cheap. They work for a cheapskate like me anyway.
It was my 50th birthday yesterday, and so I could do whatever I liked for the day. Sofa. Haze Outdoors. Press play. Laugh. Have a beer. Thanks for a great day Hazo. Of course I had a party too btw! Only you could make a vid about trooosers watchable, fun and informative. Stay safe big man.
Happy birthday my man
I get my pants from Tesco. Trousers are a bit trickier but I do have a nice pair of Fjallraven which I use when camping.
I used to always wear German Army moleskins but recently got a pair of Helikon Tex Pilgrim pants . Really impressed with them .
Can't get enough HAZY.... Tomorrow best socks, next day best gloves..... Let's go. :) Oh hey also making stuffed portabella mushrooms tonight for dinner...
Sound lovely mate. Enjoy.
Had me howling at the comment about skipping through Keswick with a load of bags
Oh and Hazy
Fluff from a tumble drier makes an excellent fire starter especially with vaseline
Fjällräven's clothes are the nicest on the market
The "Lundhags" pants are even better! 😉
Excellent review, thank you for the detailed information.
Hazy trying to break America one thinks, Joey D is in a corner just shaking his head. We forgive you :)
Looking at the fabric of the Fjallraven, they're the same composition as Scruffs Worker trousers.
There must be a difference though because Scruffs are £35 and Fjallravens are £100+
Can 100% recommend the montane gear, have been wearing there kit for a number of years and if anything Goes wrong with their kit they have a lifetime guarantee and will fix things for you. I do like the look of the fjallraven gear as well.
Hazy waffling on about anything camping related...simply great entertainment!
Got the haglofs rugged 2 mountain pants in 2017 and have been all over the world in them...they are the best pants I've owned and blow fjallraven out the water
Good morning from the PNW! I’ve used and abused my fjalleaven’s, a good pair of carhartt ripstop pants worked great before I saved up enough for the Vida’s, at 50 USD they won’t break the bank. Plus they are my work pants for the mill anyways haha
Some decent kecks mate! So many innuendoes.. great vid 👍🏻
I wish I could laugh react to your videos the “don’t forget too...” got me 😂
I have the montane super terra pants
best pants I ever had
Hi Haze, love your free spirited ✌ I never new, that (Pants) Trousers.....could be so interesting ☺ well done 😊 stay safe 💝 look forward to your next video💖Xx
Far and away the best "If you are new to the channel..." I have ever seen!
Pants? i was glad to see you wearing trousers
"Waxing up your own pants."
If that's not a euphemism, nothing is!
🥳
I got some Montane Terra pants last year and they are amazing! Previously had much cheaper hiking pants and sorta got sucked in to buying a pair when my local Go Outdoors closed for relocation, so got some at under £60 👍 wouldn’t go back now, super quick to dry, offer good wind resistance, breathable and comfortable all day long. My only regret is not getting a pair sooner. I got the Terra Alpine shorts for summer which are great for a dip in a lake and have enough pockets. Looking at the Super pants for added warmth in winter.
Well that was pants!!! In the nicest possible way - the Fjällräven Vidda Pro look like they will go nicely with my Barber coats.
For me, Fjallraven easily wins because they care about sustainability and ethical production. I’d rather send my money somewhere that funds regenerative agriculture and recycling, than somewhere solely focused on profit.
Edit: Also free shipping on orders over $75 for Fjallraven compared to $400 for Montane.
Montane for me to support a British company
I'm glad I'm not the only one taking pleasure from rubbing wax into new Hestras... (I thought I was odd lol) 🙏
Great stuff Master Hazy! 💪🏽🤠👍🏽
If you ever get the chance to get your hands on Englebert Strauß - Trousers e. s. Rough, tough tool-pouch - try them! There is a reason, that 80-90% of german craftsmen of every profession wears them. Quality, functionality, material, durability, reasonably priced... the whole package!
More product reviews please dude! Awsum job
I wear Scruffs and Dickies work 'Strides' for more involved adventures. Then Berghaus and other stretchy 'Pantalons' for mountain hikes, scrambling etc. PVC and leather 'Chaps' for parties 😀
I'm a Landscaper too and I 1000% agree with the Scruffs shout 👏 absolute beasts! The Buckler Buckskins are also robust as hell, but they're a bit on the heavy side
Trouser waxing and connection to your outdoor clothes. No need to explain, LoL, I know that feeling, but if I were to put it into words I'd probably use words like, Nomadic, Rooted, Naturalistic. Love the channel and the honesty you put into the content. Especially in the current climate of overly dense content of people portraying themselves to be something they're not. Cheers Pal.
In Yorkshire they're pants.
Just bought a pair of Scruffs on your recommendation. Thanks Hazey.
Pants is pants, keks is keks, add under to each to get your crundies. I get you . Hello from the other Gods Country Lancashire ✊️. Love this series 👏👏
I have two pairs of vidda pro trousers great trousers. All fjällräven stuff is pretty good i have jackets that are about 20 years old and still going strong.
Thanks for your review, appreciate that you thrash your gear lol. Fjallraven really need to add YKK zips to the pockets.
I’ve had Montane Super Terra Pants for years before that it was my old pair of Combat 95’s from my Army days. Stay safe Hazy all the best 👍
You know you’re a Haze fan when you watch him talk about trousers you’ll never buy. Keep it up big lad.
I'm a female, what on earth am I doing here lol
@@muzic12freakzz everyone is welcome. Lol
The first time a 'pants' video is something good! Nice one;👍
The fajitas Vidda look cooler!
Nice in depth review. I've been using TNF Tibetan Guide "Pants" for Backpacking trips, got them in 1984 and they're still going strong. Nylon, very well built and quick drying.
Fjällräven make some excellent gear. Keep well & thanks for all the videos.
Looking to upgrade from my current trousers I wear all the time. Fishing, walking, out for food 😅. Going to give the montane or the scruffs a go thanks.
Please don't be scared to say trousers mate! Come on lad we're Yorkshire..you can do it 😁👍
Be watching this as soon as I'm home, nice one😁
Not even watched yet but had to share the fact that I am sampling Northern monk faith tonight and it's a lovely drop - thanks for bringing it to my attention
Came for ideas on pants, sorted cheers mate
Montane allllll day long... love my superTerra kecks 🙌🏻
LOVE my 'Ray LaMONTANES' © :-)
and there's something about putting your hand in a deep thigh pocket that is very satisfying. Cheers Hazey!
Totally agree there's only one other contender to consider the helikon pilgrim pants from there bushcraft range they are epic for £60
511 Stryke combats are popular down here in Australia.
I rub straight beeswax on them then heat it, works well.
@@andystaveley237 ohhh il have to check them out bud
Loved this one matey
Thanks - you make lockdown that little bit better 😊
Top bloke from a guy in Somerset
Nice pants... BUT I love bergens of Norway and especially lundhags.....
Excellent mate, for work I wear scruffs. There's a handy pocket in the leg to stick the magic wand when you get asked to do the impossible
So many vids from my favorite youtuber at the moment, love it
I’m a money conscious Yorkshireman. I’ve used (free) Snickers work pants for years, for camping & other outside hobbies (not for hiking). Why not, they have loads of pockets and are well reinforced, where needed. They are made of the same 65/35% materials as branded walking pants and also the olive green lightweight army pants, which are good for hiking too. My dedicated travel/walking pants are Crag-hopper Kiwi.
Have had quite a few brands but I keep returning to my Snickers Workwear pants. Brown with those outside tool pockets/ears. Love them.
Just a quick note to say thanks for all that you give us.... including the rear end views. About to head off on our first hike/camp in 18 months - no travel due to all the lockdowns and restrictions here in Aus for the past almost year. Doing a five day circuit of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park down in Tassie ( Tasmania ). Fingers crossed it's clear as the views from up top can be stunning.
Loved this! Always great to have the wild card for us beginners !
God bless you in these troubled times you little northern monk!
Do hiking boots wild card, starter kits etc!
Pin pin!
Great review! Had the Vidda pro for years now! Still brand new! Montane are looking good for stretchiness!
Yessss Hazey I'm literally looking for advice on the very subject keep up the great vids!
Amen to the waxing mate. Just finished doing my Anorak 8.
Good Morning Hazey! 😁😁 Hope you’re doing excellent today!
Hi Hazy, started following you last week and thoroughly enjoying watching your vids.
Started watching your 14 days in the Highlands on the Cape Wrath trail and have to say you made me very homesick as I'm from that part of the world.
Love your banter on the vids. Keep it going as long as you can bud.
Sean.
Love the channel and the content dude, thanks for making us all smile in shit times!
I got the vidda pro in December 2019. In January on a camp a stray spark from the fire 🔥 landed on the bottom. Burnt a wee hole 🕳 in them. I was gutted. I emailed fjallraven to see what to do and they sent me a selection of little patches. To match the colour. And wonder web it on. That’s the only trouble I’ve had. I’ve worn them so much since. Got wet and they dried quick. I haven’t waxed them yet. And yes they look good down the pub. Spot on pants. The Montanes are strictly for adventures. Not the pub. I’ve got the terras which I lived in before the viddas. Again no issues. A bit cold in winter. But that’s it. Good review this. I may get some new fjallraven pants near the end of the year. Maybe kebs. Who knows? We’ll probably all be sat in our pants 🩲 until then, doing reviews of the carpet. Or the wallpaper. Who knows??
Who knows. Atb. 👍
'Waxing my pants connects me to my trousers' classic :-)
Another good review Mr Haze. One thing you didn't mention was the size of the fly opening. I need a large fly opening too get my hammer out.🤣. So let me know Are they both the same. 🤣😂
Both trousers look great. I can only talk for some hiking trousers. I wear the Mountain Equipment Ibex and I’m really pleased with them. No exactly bushcraft tho. Great vid dude ! 👍
Great video buddy and terrific review - love the detail! Cheers & keep them coming 👌
Excellent video Hazelnut! Currently sat here in scuffs 🤣
Loving your content, it's your personality that comes through for me. Endearing!
You’re really good at reviews - rewatching this one - can you more clothing and kit reviews matey
Top review Hazy boy! I myself have a pair of the Vidda Pros and I have to say they're amazingly comfy, I wore them around the house for 2 days before my wife told me to get a grip, I'm a bit of a THICC boy at 6ft1 and 19 stone and went for the L (long) and they are hugely long in the leg, I do like a slightly baggy trouser as it allows freedom of movement when climbing over rocks, fallen trees, passed out (drunk) comrades, but these I feel would suit anyone 6FT3+. I'm just looking forward to a time when I can finally get them out in the wilderness where they belong!
Great tip with the work trousers.
Trousers in Blighty thank you 😁
My sincere apologies
@@HazeOutdoors 😁😉👍🏻
Wooohooooo. Adventure Pants!!!
Seen this vid the other day, bought some scruffs pants today 👍 slightly different to yours and £49 but decent quality and will come in for working on house, fishing etc etc.
Wouldn’t be without my scruffs man 👊
I’ve got the fals, great trou, BUT, if you’ve got tree trunks instead of legs (ex rugby prop) because of the lack of stretch they can be restrictive. Other than that they are bombproof
Great vid mate
Love the 4 green scrape marks in the top left of screen. Its like the predator was helpin you review the trousers. Rarrrr
Wondered where you'd gone, when I checked it, it said I was unsubscribed! No way did I do that🤷 great stuff as usual ✊
Fantastic video, I wondered for ages what trousers you wore. Just hope I can find em for lasses
Mascot advance trouser from arco. Love these
Awesome pants , I’ve just got 2 pairs of scruffs .. black , grey ones .. happy with both ..good vid hazy ... cheers Chris & Sam
Ya mean trousers 😘
I love my Viddas. Two years in and the zips bust but I’m blaming my excessive manhood and not the manufacturers going process.
Detritus ... lovely .
I'm originally from Oz and this is music to my ears. I was worried that this was all going to be about 'undies'. About time we called them by their proper name. Good man Hazey.
Worth waiting for mate, good comparison and I have to agree a good pair of work pants can do the job😌
The right review at the right time for me. Cheers Hazy 👍
Thanks for the in depth review. Definitely will be looking forward to getting both those kinds of pants. Great tip for using the wax to increase for durability and water proofing. Have to say, would have never thought of using them on pants.
Really useful video, thanks Hazey 👍
Eyup Hazy I think the Fjallraven are one of the best outdoor pants on the market, and them others look a great hiking trouser.
Just one for the future for you as a third option...511 Taclite pro pants..
These are awesome, I've got two pair, ripstop fabric, knee pads, double gusseted, an excellent pair of trousers...
Again thanks for making the vids and keeping us entertained with your humour, atb Lee
If you're just hiking I can't reccomend the Arcteryx Gamma LT enough. They look great to wear casually too.
been waiting for you to do this, thanks mate, trousers is the one thing i wasnt sure which t get
