I wanted to say that I have been watching your videos for about 5 years now, and taking away key learnings in your board repair led me to become more passionate about pursuing electronics. Long story short, your videos and dialogue helped me along the way, and I am now a hardware engineer at Apple. Thank you for putting out such great content.

I appreciate the fact that you covered the screen with your hand when testing the laptop to protect your customer's privacy, instead of editing it out in post. It's nice to see that you're aware of that while working on a device with a camera around.
It seems the T2 replaces the SMC of the old days. And it seems that it is an improvement as it is possible to revive the device by means of a working device, software and cable. Surely this is easier than reballing a second hand SMC. That's it what I learned today. Thank you.

Now that my mid 2017 Mac Book Pro is reaching the end of its planned operational life, I am either thinking about spending $3,000 to buy another MBP that has planned obsolescence or spending $200 to fix up my 2010 MBP with the broken screen and blown out sound bar. The thing I like about my 2010 with the better keyboard is I can still use Final Cut Pro and Microsoft Word without a monthly fee. Change my mind.
Where can I get my hands on laptop schematics? I have a Dell laptop I'm trying to fix that won't turn on and I hear a chip making noise when I try to turn it on. Checking with a meter I'm not getting power where it should be, but I can't follow it all out without some prints.
What are the chances that a Macbook Pro that has this issue, but is repaired successfully, will fail again within 4 years with the same issue? I'm trying to figure out whether to try to have my Macbook Pro repaired, or just buy a new computer. Thanks.

It is dumbfounding how simple some of these repairs end up being and yet Apple and others of their ilk just want you to trash it and buy another one.
FYI Kidde smoke alarm model i9010 lasts 10 years can be manually deactivated once, cannot be reactivated

I believe Apple has on the App Store for free an application called Configurator 2 for this purpose.
