    I have the similar khukuri of my grandfather.. He use to say that his father has chopped 44 British soldiers with it back in 1817 . What surprises me is that it still looks new.

    Thanks for the review! -- Just got mine in last week and 'beast' is actually putting it mildly. You won't fully realize the tank-like build to this knife until you hold one in your own hand. They offer free engraving on the blade and fantastic customer support. In addition to the Makers Mark from KHHI they also include an individual Makers Mark from your blade's individual crafter and a small glossy brochure with a picture and some personal details about the person who actually made your knife. Very cool, very old school company making gorgeous blades. For a $125 handmade item like this, I almost felt like I was stealing it from them. Thanks again for your review, bravo.

      Lawnmower blade wouldn't be good for a Kukri. Half the point of a Kukri is the weight and thickness. You need to use a truck leaf spring if you are going to make one yourself. Specifically one made of 5160 steel. Or if you're rich you could probably buy precision ground super steel flat stock and make it from that. But not a lawnmower blade. Plus lawnmower blades are iffy with the heat treating. (I make knives, so I'm not just talking out of my ass here. I know my steels.)

    I also have a kukri, 14 1/2 inch blade slightly less angel than yours, and it is awesome. Some channels are saying their not a good knife for bush craft, I can agree with that, their not good they are amazing, absolutely one of the best single knives you can use , mine is always in my kit, if i forget my hawk, hand axe, or even my hunting knife, this will happily take their place, not so good with all the small stuff but their again it's a large blade, but it is capable of some of the tasks that I use the smaller personal knife for.

    I've been looking at various kukris, focusing mostly on those made by Tora and Cold Steel. The Cold Steel, with its quillion (hand guard) and ergonomic grip, was the one I was leaning towards until I saw this video. That grip looks beautifully designed. The jimping on top of the blade doesn't seem to have utility. Can the top of the blade be safely grabbed? Is it too narrow from the middle on for batonning? The only change I'd make is to have a point, doesn't need to be sharp (e.g., Tai Pan), at the base of the pommel to enable puno or butt strikes. That sheath wasn't what I would have expected. What did you finally go with? Also, any thoughts on the quality of metal? Where's the balance point relative to the quillion? Thanks for the great video and looking forward to reading your thoughts now a year later.

      HI THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT . THE BLADE IS VERY SHARP ON TOP AS WELL THE BOTTOM , PLUS THIS IS THE TOOL I TAKE WITH ME ALL THE TIME ,IT THE BEST . IT HAS GREAT WEIGHT BALANCE AND VERY COMFY TO HOLD .FOR BATONNING CAN BE TRICK SOMETIMES BUT I JAB THE WOOD FIRST THEN JUST FORCE AND WEIGHT TO FINISH OFF. AND LAST THE BUTT CAN BE SHARP IF YOU LIKE . THE DOWN SIDE IS THE SHEATH IM HOPING IN THE FUTURE TO GET A KYDAX SHEATH . :)

    Pretty impressive , man. They're a nice blade to work with. I was given one today, but as it has no markings at all i don't know what brand it is or whatever. Has an 11 inch blade - tip to hilt. Aprox. 8mm thick. The handle is real dark wood, and around each of the two handle rivets there's 8 white dots. The hilt and butt are brass, and the butt is a lions head. Never owned one before, so i'll have to do some homework on the subject.

    I wanted to buy the same Kukri you have "The Scourge" from KHHI but $125 was a bit out of my price range right now but I did however just order the KHHI AEOF Kukri yesterday for $66 on Amazon and it should hppefully be here in 5 to 7 days. I have other kukri's and machetes but I wanted something hand forged and strong enough to use in any situation and the one I ordered was designed for the Gurkha and British soldiers to use in combat in Afghanistan so I think it'll work.

    This is an American Eagle Chukuri (double edge) and not a traditional khukuri. Cuts both ways and equally effective. The bottom of the hilt looks like an eagle's head. Also works as a hammer. You can use any chaim saw oil on the blade after every use when you put it away.

    • @ypimages
      @ypimages Před 2 lety

      Draw back is you cannot hammer the back once half way through a huge log because of the top edge. Better for combat than essential.

    Instead of wraping the cord around your wrist, see if you like this technique better: place the loop over your thumb and wrap over the back of your hand. This allows you to retain the tool, but also allows for easily dropping if the need arises.

    That loose case is for a reason. I Own a khukri as well. If the case is tight There are chances of khukri. Tearing apart that case whenever it comes out.
    My khukri case was made from wood and leather and it tore as the case was tight.

      Greetings from Texas! i have purchased from thekhukurihouse.com in the past. i bought an angkhola supreme 13" kukri from them, and i loved it. i DID reshape the handle down to accept a paracord wrap and modified the sheath, but the blade and steel were/are superb. i use it for camping everytime, chopping through 5-6 inch diameter deadwood with no issues at all the the edge. keep it oiled and maintained, and it will be something you can pass down to your kids. there are alot of knockoffs out there, but thekhukurihouse.com is legit.
