    I'm liking what you were saying about about the I use the point to my post 146 is my edit on then if they get the same jockey the following week you just add more points can I add a jockey system which works from the bottom up not from the top down😊. Everybody knows the horse goes up and down

    Thanks for the input. I note in the RAMROD spreadsheet that the columns Wins at Track and Wins over Distance are reversed. Inputs made in Wins at Track records a score in the Wins over Distance column.

      Thanks for noticing that. Just swapping them around should fix the problem. Cheers.

      @@johnpalmer4128 I've done that myself. I also added a going column using the same calculation. Easily accessable at the bottom of the Racing Post cards together with course and distance statistics (free). I live in the UK. I also added a calculation looking at the difference between the FSP and SP for reference, but not added to the overall total.

    hey john love the spreadsheet. anyway you can incorporate track condition and barrier into this system? im not to experienced with excel so not sure how to add this in

    • @johnpalmer4128
      @johnpalmer4128  Před 6 měsíci

      Adding in some more columns will not be difficult and I am happy to do this for you if you would like. All I need to know is what numbers you would like to assign. For example something like 10 points for barriers 1-5, 5 points for barriers 6-10 and no points for barriers 11 or wider. Maybe 5 points for having won on the track condition. If you tell me what you want, I'll code it up for you.

    Hi john can you please allow me access to this spread sheet? Thanks

      Hi, if you follow the instructions in the video description, you should be OK. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll see if I can sort that out for you.

      @@johnpalmer4128 hi john not sure what I have done different but it is working no. Thanks again. Also do you still do wagon wheel Friday?

      @ginobergamin6422 no. Life got a bit busy with my wife's art and helping with the grand kids so I've pretty much shut down the channel. Might fire it up again in the future when I've got a bit more spare time.

    Hi John. In regards to the Ramrod do you take a price the evening before. I just checked the race and the top two in the betting changed from last night to the day of the race! Thank you.

    • @johnpalmer4128
      @johnpalmer4128  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Neil. I think you are going to have to take the price at a consistent time each day that you decide to apply the strategy. I don't know what time Practical Punting use but I suspect it would be the day before the race as they need to get the selections out to all those who have purchased their service. But in developing the system, would they have had access to the prices available well before starting time? I don't know where you would find that information. I often find that after scratchings and changes in the market, horses that were top selections for the Wagon Wheel on a Friday evening sometimes drop from that spot on a Saturday.

      @@johnpalmer4128 thanks for the reply John. With the Wagon Wheel how do you play it with the prices? I was monitoring a race a few weeks ago on a Saturday and the night before it was 6th in the betting but just before the off it came into 2nd favourite!

    • @johnpalmer4128
      @johnpalmer4128  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm waiting until about 5 minutes before the race and I then enter the prices on TAB and go with that. Not really shooting the lights out unfortunately, and I'm getting close to not betting until i can find something that regularly delivers a profit. Just not spotting any trends apart from the fact that horses with seemingly insipid form win far more often than what I thought would be the case.

    …and the second fav gets up! So frustrating isn’t it. I wonder if the secret statistic on Ramrod gave the right winner. Does the Aussie tab have a live % price change leading up to race start? I often think that’s the best guide of a winner as all the people in the industry that intimately know the horses, jockeys and trainers (especially those working in the track on the day) out there bets on in the last min of a race so they don’t effect the odds! Just a theory I have

    • @johnpalmer4128
      @johnpalmer4128  Před 2 lety

      Sorry for the late reply. I don't think TAB has % price change. Would need to do it manually in excel I think. But often that "smart" money is correct so certainly worth taking into account.

    Hi John. I couldn't find this searching Google, but is there a tutorial on actually how the selections are made using "the wagon wheel" method. I'm very keen to see how it works.

    good a/noon John..dont take it the wrong way ..not nit-picking..but the on scoring side [purple cells ]..pts for margins lowest score beaten 3 lens or less get 10 pts but if in the blue cells if you imput more then 3 lens ..33 pts pop up in the purple cells ..eg ..1 race i was playing around with had beaten ..7 lens ..13 lens ..10 lens etc..al those came up with 33pts..also makes no difference to final score but on the imput side ..wins on track is before distance but on the scoring side dst. comes up 1st and track 2rd so track wins pop into the distance score.....looking forward the fridays wheel post cheers paulg ....

    • @johnpalmer4128
      @johnpalmer4128  Před 2 lety

      Howdy Paul. Just checked it out. For the spreadsheet to calculate correctly, margeins need to be entered as negative if beaten and positive if a winning margin. So for beaten by 4 lengths, enter -4. For winning by 2.5 lengths enter 2.5. Let me know if that solves the issue for you.

      Would love to be able to do that but can't run the risk of getting on the wrong side of ASIC who have made it very clear that I should have a financial services license to post the type of content that I used to post. I don't have one so that's why I have stopped.
