  • University of Queensland medicine student Yonatan Mendels says the video of pro-Palestine protesters backing the killing of Israeli civilians was “deeply disturbing”.
The footage showed a protester expressing his support for Hamas and backing the killing of Israeli civilians in order to, in their opinion, liberate Palestine.
Protests have been occurring all across the West, including Australia, in response to the war between Israel and Hamas.
“I find that deeply, deeply disturbing as a Jewish and Israeli student here on campus,” Mr Mendels told Sky News Australia.
“When you look at that in the context of the incidents that have been happening on campus in the last few days and the last couple of weeks here, and then contrast that with what we’ve seen overseas and interstate, I find that deeply disturbing.”

I think there is a lot of ignorance regarding this issue, when looking at some of these comments. Some people are throwing around the term “genocide” without knowing what it means. After the horrific attack by Hamas terrorists, that’s right, terrorists - not resistance fighters- it was inevitable that Israel would have sent in their army , in self defense. Anyone who thinks otherwise is being naïve. The Palestinians had the Gaza Strip and over the years they had every chance to make it a beautiful land for their people , but instead, they chose hate and used all their resources to build weapons and terror tunnels. A bit of research will tell any one that , Palestine , as a nation has never existed and this lie being propagated is causing so much suffering. What is going on in the Gaza Strip now, was brought on by Hamas terrorists. It’s very sad, but the war could end today if they released all the hostages and surrendered.

The Group of Eight's (Australian universities) public comments to the effect that the anti-Semitic behaviour on their campuses are not unlawful is reminiscent of the responses of the Presidents of Harvard and UPenn at the recent Congressional Inquiry into antisemitism in universities.
The responses of the university Presidents received over one billion views on CZcams - the highest on record for a Congressional Inquiry. The President of UPenn was forced to resign within 48 hours. Despite support by radical left faculty Professor Gay, Harvard's President, resigned in disgrace shortly after. A similar fate appears to be imminent for the President of New York's Columbia university.
Because this was not nipped in the bud (last October!) despite massive police presence and action there is now chaos and anarchy throughout the US, spilling from the campuses to the streets. Congress has now established a task force to investigate across the country and take action - legislation if necessary.
As it is there are now further moves for removal of incompetent university Presidents and anti-Semitic faculty members, suspensions, expulsions, arrests and prosecutions, revocation of visas, withdrawal of government funds and recovery of huge police costs from universities. On the private front employers are expressing their intention not to employ students identified with so-called "protests", law suits are being filed against universities and billions of dollars of private funding have been withdrawn or threatened to be withdrawn.
Although this has been simmering since October 7 and in some universities for decades, it has now accelerated at a very rapid pace.
Unless all relevant stakeholders in Australia take prompt and decisive action we will reap the whirlwind including sending some dangerous signals to those in our country who seek division and politically and socially unstable Australia.

@User9681e 10 to 15 years is one generation. In that span of time, Hamas let Gaza become a mini N Germany at an ideological level. The problem: Their military strength compared to the IDF was so terrible. If we overlooked the moral comparison of these countries (which is like Allies/Soviet vs N Germany) and looked purely at military strength then we would see that the IDF is a lot stronger than Hamas and could have nuked or carpet bomb without warning long ago. So based on this analysis it would be pure idiocy to have attacked them. However IDF did not simply nuke or carpet bomb the area but warned civilians to get out of harms way while aiding them with food (similar to what Allies did for Germany post-WW2 while they had a famine where over 200,000 German civilians starved to death) so it would be fallicious to say IDF doesn't care about any Gazan civilians.
