    Thank you for sharing your video. Could you list a few apartments that you would recommend for a CSULB student and some that you would avoid. Thank you again!!

      Hi Lisa! The apartments I lived in were called Channel Point, and I had a really great experience. They are on the pricier side, but they are really close to campus. There is also Pathways which is right down the road, and then by the traffic circle there is Patio Gardens and Beverly Plaza. I can't speak to those specifically but I know a lot of students rented from there. Hope that helps!

      For an apartment, I would look for ads on facebook! There aren't any roommate questionnaires as far as I know because the apartments are all independent, not through CSULB.

    In Beachside or Apartments, can you have a single bedroom?

    • @_heyitsmay
      @_heyitsmay  Před 4 lety +2

      I'm not sure about Beachside--I think they're all triple rooms. And for apartments, it just depends on where you get the apartment and what you can afford! I ended up sharing a room, but there are cheaper apartments in other parts of Long Beach if you go further away from campus :)

    Do you know any apartment areas you recommend near CSULB? Also what is the rent you pay typically?

      A lot of students get apartments near the traffic circle such as Patio Gardens and Beverly Plaza. Our rent was on the higher side--it was $2600 for a two bedroom (split between 4 people), and then it got raised after a year. My apartment was really close to campus though, and apartments by the traffic circle are usually a bit cheaper I think, and it's still pretty close to campus, especially by bus or shuttle.

    Hey just wondering if you filled in a space for your roommates or did you guys apply for the apartment? If you did, how easy/hard was the process of applying for one as a college student?

    • @_heyitsmay

      Hi Jazmin! The semester before we were planning on moving out of the dorms, I coordinated with three friends and planned to get an apartment together in the fall. We went on a few tours and decided which one would work best for us. One of my roommates did the online application so I'm not sure exactly how the process was there but I think it went fairly smoothly! We did have to have something called a guarantor, which is someone who makes over a certain amount of money per month that has to sign onto the lease with us, so my roommate's dad signed on. Hope this helps! :)

    How much is the price difference???

    • @_heyitsmay
      @_heyitsmay  Před 5 lety +1

      That depends on a lot of factors, such as what apartment complex you choose to live in, how many roommates you have, and what your meal plan was in the dorms. Most likely though, the apartment will come out cheaper.

  • @debbie_77

    Do they pick if you live in an apt or a dorm? Or do you pick? Are the prices the same ?

    • @_heyitsmay
      @_heyitsmay  Před 3 lety

      Hi Deborah! It is up to each student to decide whether they want to live on campus or not. Spots in the dorms are very limited and fairly hard to get if you’re not a freshman (at least that’s how it was when I was there). It depends a lot on what apartment complex you end up in and how many roommates you’re splitting the rent with but living in an apartment could end up being cheaper.

      I’m a transfer student & I just submitted my application so now I’m just waiting to see if I got accepted for dorming.. what is a better choice dorms ? Or Apts? And why are Apts more cheap?

    • @_heyitsmay
      @_heyitsmay  Před 3 lety

      @@debbie_77 I would say it just depends on the kind of experience you're looking for! The dorms would be a lot more social--it would be easier to meet people and get involved that way. You can still get involved on campus if you live in an apartment but commuting to campus is definitely a different vibe than living there. Like I explained, the price will depend on a lot of different factors so I can't definitively tell you that one is going to be a cheaper option. I would recommend researching rent prices for apartments near campus and considering how many roommates you plan on having, your monthly budget for food, and the cost of transportation against what you'll be paying for the dorms. I hope this helps!

      @@ChrisGoblinHD I really liked Hillside! It really just depends on what kind of feel you're looking for--do you want on campus or off campus, traditional halls or suite style? I just posted a video explaining the different types of dorms if you want to check it out: czcams.com/video/0vINCjFBhQM/video.html&t=
