CSULB is my top choice but I got rejected 😅😅 but I'm going to community and applying again, so I'm not quitting 😂
Oh dang I'm sorry! It's definitely getting tougher to get in :( And good for you--don't give up!!
Can you tell me why it's your top choice?
Dennis Vivanco I wanted to go to a CSU because there cheaper than a UC, and Long Beach has a really good social work program but it’s impacted so a lot of people are trying to get in with that major. Also Long Beach has CAMP program that helps migrant students out by helping them with tutoring and F Financial aid.
Got rejected in hs, got accepted for transfer from a cc, with a 3.4 gpa 😬 you’ll get in honey! Best of luck
I got rejected toooo :(
I got admitted to the nursing program at CSULB for fall 2018. you make me so excited to go. and proud too!
Congratulations!
I have one question. How exactly does the tuition fees work? Is it $275 dollars per unit? So if you're taking 12 units, then it's $3300? Or is there like a flat rate no matter how many units you take?
It's based on if you're a full time (7 or more units) or part time student (6 or less units). Here's where you can see the costs laid out: www.csulb.edu/student-records/tuition-and-fees
So from what I read, around $3,200 per semester for full time? That's not bad at all.
do you mind sharing your stats? I applied for nursing at CSULB for the fall of 2019. I am scared since it is impacted and would like to know what I need to have exactly. Thank You!
This video was fun to watch and I just got accepted to CSULB...so I'm now binge watching videos about college and I'm super happy to have stumbled across your channel🌷🌼🌷
Congrats!! I'm happy you found it too :)
What gpa did you have ?
Same but 2 years later... 😂 did you end up going?
Very informative and fun video. I just finished my applications for a few CSUs and longbeach is the one I prefer the most as an English major. Fingers crossed I get in🤞🏼
Thank you for this video! Im praying I get in next fall!! Im a transfer student thats been at community for 2 years so far and im so excited
I hope you get in too!
Omg I love this and your channel! I had Long Beach on my radar but didn't have any particular reasons to go. I still applied because I thought what the heck, might be a good option. Then just a few weeks ago I had a virtual interview and trial lesson (applying as a music ed major on flute) that was AMAZING!!! I immediately felt a strong urge to go to the school and after watching your tour video and more I am just so super excited about it!! I haven't made my decision yet but the more I find out the more I am loving it!!!! I also just found out I got in this week! :D
Aaahh that's awesome congrats!! I'm so happy you had a great experience with the virtual interview/lesson. I actually have a friend who double majored in flute performance and music ed :) I'm so glad my videos have been helpful 😊
Thank you for putting together this awesome list :) I’m most likely transferring to a CSU next year and this got me really excited about the potential of long beachhhh
Yay!! glad to help :)
Will be starting here in the fall. I'm a transfer student so I'm nervous about starting here as a Junior!
I just got in like an hour ago into the class of 2024! I’m commuting thought since I live less than 30 minutes away without traffic. I’m super excited!!
Awesome, congrats!!! 🥳🥳 welcome to the Beach family 💛🖤
heyit'smay thank you 🥺🥺
Same ! 2024.
thanks for this super informative video! i'm super lucky to have gotten accepted to csulb, and i'm currently deciding between this school and UCSC. after watching this, i'm definitely leaning more towards csulb, especially since price plays a big role in my decision.
Yay! I'm so glad this video helped you. If you have any questions about CSULB, feel free to contact me. Go Beach!
i was looking at college videos and saw the thumbnail for this and remembered you from EC band haha. i'm going to be a senior this year and definitely considering CSULB! i'm glad you are enjoying it :)
Haha yes I remember you too!! I've done a ton of vlogs of my life on campus if you want to see more of what it's like :D
Ok I’m just a sophomore and I heard library with a good view and sports yup one of my top colleges for the future😌
I live in Long Beach, and I’m very excited to go to CSULB when I’m old enough
I’m going to Cal State Fullerton but I love the modern look of CSULB
Really considering going here and this video was really helpful, thanks !
So glad to hear that! Please let me know if you have any questions that I could answer about my experience 💛
I’m still a freshman in highschool😆 I live in Kentucky. Me and my best friend plan to attend the same college and this is at the TOP of our list!! If we don’t get in we don’t know what we’re gonna do yet... this video makes me so excited to go to college and GET OUT OF KENTUCKY lmao
omg i am in sophmrore in louisville & wanna go here! didnt think id find another kentuckian !!
I got accepted for 2019 freshman !! And thinking about it
Go beach! I'll be starting next fall!
I can't wait to go to this school!!! Transferring from El Camino College
Awesome!!
Im going to that campus except I have a long way to go im only in middle school
What did you think about the teachers and academic advisors at csulb? Are they generally nice and helpful?
I am planning to apply for the master in computer science for spring 2021. My bachelor's aggregate percentage is 78%. What are my chances? Any suggestions in the application .
Seems like a great school. Based on how the classes work, do you have time to go to classes and juggle around a part-time or full-time job? Do they assign your classes like in high school, or do you choose what classes you want to take and when, like junior college currently is. If I get the luck to go there next year I will need to have at least a part time job; plus I’m not sure how the dorm expenses go and the daily meals, tuition, etc. I’m the first in my family to go to college, and the only ones in my neighborhood who have gone to college are no longer around, so I have to use social media for guidance. I’ve not seen one video yet of someone working while going to a CSU of any sort. Any tips or info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
You choose the classes you take (I mean, there are going to be some that you have to take by a certain time depending on your major, but your advisor will tell you that). Working while going to school is very doable! I would say most people at CSULB have at least a part time job, actually. I had one this semester that was 10-15 hours a week, and I was able to handle it. For tips, I would say just to allocate certain blocks of time to do homework and try not to do too much at once. At my job (which was at a calling center), I was actually lucky enough to be able to work on my homework during the shifts. I haven't made a video on working in college specifically, but I talk about it some in my vlogs if you want to check those out. There are all sorts of on campus jobs you can look into: www.csulb.edu/employment Also, here is the link to the housing payment breakdown: web.csulb.edu/divisions/students/housing/campus_housing/fees.htm I hope this helps, and you can totally hit me up with anymore questions you have! Go Beach!
I got accepted into CSULB.. but I am really hoping to get into UCLA (praying for an acceptance, it comes out march 22, 2024) but my back up is probably going to be here.. i am in love with the dorms
How is the social life of a grad engineering student? Heard that CSUs are a commuters college.
What about job opportunities? Like for internships and part-time and full time ?
I’m exploring the 5 schools I’ve applied to and the common theme among them all seems to be students complaining about the crappy food sold in campus lol.
Thank you for making this video. I really enjoyed it.
Haha yeah I don't think many campuses are known for their food 😜 Good luck with making a decision, and let me know if you have any questions!
Hi, what do you think about the on campus jobs for Graduate students, I'm planning to come here
I applied here and although I was waitlisted I made it in! I just don't know if I should go, because I had made plans here in my hometown university. I'm also scared because I've never been out of town and on my own.
Hi there! Honestly, with classes being online right now, I would recommend going to community college and staying at home. It's not worth it to pay the price of a 4 year university if you're not actually able to go there. That's just my opinion though. It's possible that you would just have the first semester online and then be able to go on campus after that. Sometimes it's good to take a leap even if you feel like you're not quite ready and see how things shake out--I don't think anyone ever feels completely ready to move out of their parents' house to a new city and start college, if that makes you feel better. I know I didn't! But if you really don't think moving away right now would be a good fit for you, you could always go to community college for two years and then transfer somewhere else or just stay close to home for all four years. Everyone does college differently! I would consider classes being online and your financial situation as well when you make your decision. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about CSULB if you want more information!
I'm transferring but I reject because of my qualifications for some reasons.
do they only look at ur gpa and sat score and not require you any kind of essay? cuz it seems pretty hard to determine who to admit based on just that. also do u get close with ur teachers since the ratio be like 1:30?
Unless things have changed since I applied, yes. They just look at GPA and SAT scores as the main factors and it goes into some kind of algorithm. The same goes for all the CSUs--it's one application, and there is no essay required. For your second question, it definitely depends on the class! I got really close with some of my professors and not so much with others. Going to office hours is a great way to help build relationships with them.
My boyfriend and I got accepted. I am wondering, is it possible for him and I to dorm together? I heard some colleges allow relationships to do that if they’re married or together for more than 3 years.
Hi! I haven't heard anything about that. As far as I know, there aren't any exceptions to dorm rooms being segregated by gender, but you can contact housing, and I'm sure they'd know!
What if your living on your own do the living expenses still apply to the school? Or would I only have to pay the tuition??
It would just be tuition!
Will be starting in the fall :)
Awesome! Go Beach :)
@@_heyitsmay thx ;)
Long Beach is my top choice for this year! Any advice for starting there?
Hi! My advice would be to be open to meeting new friends and having new experiences, go to class, and to always use Rate My Professor! Here is the link to my freshman advice video if you want to check it out! czcams.com/video/jHloJAxRW-8/video.html&t
How much dorms cost per month without meal?
Also not to mention, if you are a student of LBUSD you're guarentee admissions to CSULB.
hey what if you graduated from a LBUSD high school and you apply to a major for example nursing and you don't get into that major are you still guaranteed admission but as an undeclared major?
Hello! I have a few questions if you are available.
What is parking like? Can we just bikes on campus? and are there food courts (with known restaurants)?
Hi! Take this with a grain of salt because I graduated a few years ago now, but I remember hearing that parking was pretty difficult. I never had a car so I didn't experience it firsthand, but people said you had to get there early to get a spot. You could definitely bike to campus though! There are places to lock up your bike, and you can't bike through the main walking paths, but you can bike around the sides of campus. There is also a Long Beach bus system and a campus shuttle that goes all the way around campus and a few off-campus places as well.
And yes, there are a few sit-down restaurants like The Chartroom, The Nugget, and The Outpost, and then there is a food court in the union that has Subway, Carls Jr, El Pollo Loco, Starbucks, etc.
About the no alcohol campus rule. Are there no parties ever at campus? Or do you party somewhere else?
Hi! Tbh people still snuck alcohol into their dorms sometimes but you can get in trouble for it. There weren't parties on other areas of campus that I remember--the parties were at the frat houses off campus. I wasn't a huge partier so I definitely don't have all the info here ;)
Is it worth to go to Cal State Long Beach while working or is there not enough time to manage?
I work 10 hours a week while going to school and it's just a matter of managing your time and prioritizing what's important. I know people who work more hours and even full time (that would be a lot more challenging) and they're still able to do it. You would get less of the traditional "college experience" and probably wouldn't be as involved in clubs/social life but it's possible!!
@@_heyitsmay Thanks for taking your time to answer.
@@jesus777e6 no problem!
MSIS from CSULB or MSBA from UTA??
Hi, I got accepted to CSULB and am really interested in choosing this school. However, I don’t know anyone else personally who would be going as well. do you have any advice on how I would be able to meet new people especially with this ongoing pandemic?
Hi Abby! Congrats on being accepted! 💛🖤 Would you be staying in the dorms? If they open things back up a bit and have more dorm activities, I would definitely recommend doing those as much as possible and introducing yourself to everyone in your hall when you move in. That really helps! If you're living off campus, it can be harder, but you can still join clubs and meet people in your classes. I don't know how much they're going to transition back to in person in the fall, but with the vaccine that should be coming soon! If not, you can always do virtual clubs as well. I hope this helps!
@@_heyitsmayHello mam. I am from India now studying 12 th standard according to our Indian system. My dream is join in CSULB. And my aim to be a b.sc agriculturist. What major should I take in CSULB with part time job. Please mam reply me. What would be the living expenses and about classes.
How is the party scene in CSU Long Beach
Haha I wasn't much of a partier so I'm probably not the best resource on this! Aside from frat parties I'm not sure what there was.
Incoming transfer student! Fall 2018! ✌️
Are you transferring into third year?? I read online that CSULB only accepts upper division transfers and wanted to know if there were any acceptions.
May I ask what your gpa was? I have a 3.644 is that to low to get into the school ?
I had a 4.0 unweighted and something like a 4.4 weighted, but that was definitely on the higher end. I know people who had much lower GPAs that still got in. They also look at a lot of other factors such as SAT score, difficulty of classes (as in if you took honors or APs), etc. It's definitely worth applying!
What gpa did you have when you got accepted and what is the lowest you've heard someone get in with?
I had a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.45 weighted. That's a lot higher than the average, although I'm not sure what the lowest I've heard is, sorry! I know there are definitely people in the 3.7-3.8 range, but depending on your SAT/ACT scores, you could make it in with lower than that too. I have a video where I talk about this in more detail if you want to check it out: czcams.com/video/Le5jJ6ycaBg/video.html&t
2.78 gpa for me I had to retake three courses to replace the score
The requirement gpa is 2.5 for civil engineering, with a few courses and at least 60 units completed
I took community college took all my GE courses and most of the required for my BA in civil engineering
For the race I put other for the blank area I put Armenian
The community college is Irvine Valley College
I got accepted last Friday
I don’t know for high schoolers
Go to community college and complete your GE courses it will be a lot cheaper
UCI students are taking the same civil engineering courses as the community college students
@@drpill1230 i go to lbcc in long beach. Im a computer science major. A friend told me he got in with a 3.2 gpa out of high school, but long beach residents do get priority and i do to. So i was wondering if a 2.9-3.2 gpa is duable for a transfer computer science major.
Buttery Skater
Did you finish the Supplemental Application?
The Application shows what is the minimum requirements for transfer and any courses required for transfer
Go Beach!!
I’m a senior in highschool rn i just applied to CSU Long Beach so hopefully i get accepted🤞🏼 however I’m super nervous to be in a different city by myself because I’m from a small town in Northern California. So do u have any advice on how to get rid of these jitters?
Hi! I'm from Northern California too :) I was definitely nervous starting college as well, and my best tips would be to remind yourself that everyone else is in the same boat because it's a completely new experience for them too, to get in contact with your roommate before school starts, to introduce yourself to your hallmates when you move in, to join a club (in order to meet new people and have something to do to keep you busy and avoid homesickness), and bring things for your dorm that remind you of home, like pictures to put up or something so your room feels more comfortable. I hope this helps! I also have a video on tips for college freshmen: ttps://czcams.com/video/jHloJAxRW-8/video.html
May'sHealthyJourney Thank you for the advice!! Made me feel less nervous😁
Yay! Glad I could help :)
ive heard that the premed program wasn't great... is that true?
Unfortunately I don’t know. I wasn’t involved with that program and don’t know anyone who was.
Is it a part school ?
hii, i'm not sure if you go to CSULB anymore, but I have some questions to ask. I would love to go into nursing here at CSULB, but my gpa is 3.71 and I have low test scores (also due to covid, i'm not sure if it's test optional or test blind). Would I have a good chance at getting in? Another thing is that do they require application essay or personal essay? I've been looking for the prompts and I can't find anything. Thank you!
20k$ cost of living😦
What if I have a great gpa but my sat scores aren’t that great? has anyone ever told you their sat score that’s considered being “low” that still got in ?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I would guess that GPA is more important but I haven't heard anyone say that specifically. Definitely still apply though--it's always worth a shot!
How is the social life?
I've definitely had a good experience, but it really depends on a lot of factors. If you plan to live in the dorms (which I HIGHLY recommend, but I know it's not financially feasible for everyone), it's going to be easy to meet people in your hall or suite and at housing events. If you're not going to dorm, it can be harder, so I would recommend joining a club of something you're interested in and trying to meet people that way!
heyit'smay I kinda found my answer in this reply, thank you!
How old are you?
Im from abroad but would like to spend a semester or two at CSULB. Im 24 currently so I hope I won’t be to old...
I'm 20! There is definitely a range of ages at CSULB--24 isn't too old at all!
May'sHealthyJourney cool :) can we get in touch via facebook or something maybe? I would like to talk to u about CSULB a bit if that is alright for u :)
Yes that's fine! I would be happy to do that. I'm way more active on Instagram though--you could just DM me. Would that work for you? (my username is @_maywrites)
May'sHealthyJourney cool. I sent u a message on facebook since I haven‘t got instagram... Hope it is alright :)
how did you apply?.. i want to apply that school

Dehzo if you can afford to fly there and back and on holidays then go for it. i’m from new york and i’m visiting soon.
Ironic since I live in Cali and got in seton hall

Unfortunately not anymore 😞 It used to be but then they started charging I think $40 per semester :/
