    Thanks for this great video Stuart. This gave me the confidence to replace 9 units in our windows.
    Mine didn't come out so easy since the rubber was stuck to the glass. Used silicone spray and a flexible table knife to break the seal. I also needed to use a mallet since the beading was firmly clipped in. There were a couple of areas where I'd left a nick in the edge of the frame/beading. I used fine glass paper to remove the burrs. Thanks again.

    Just a little tip, I found it easier, in cold weather, to use a hair drier to soften the beads before trying to remove them. Sorry if that's common knowledge, I live in a bubble🤣

      you can look online for window suppliers, or you can contact some in your local area. They should sell to the general public as this can be done by a competent DIY'er. No-one can tell you the price as there are various factors that determine the price.

      measure from bead line in milometers (mm) to the opposite side bead line (that's the edge of the bead that meets the frame edge) then take of 10mm from your measurement, that will give you the glass size you need.

    • @mojothedeadman
      @mojothedeadman Před 3 lety

      @@paulpatrick2208 there will be some internal rubber around the inside of the frame, remove that before you remove your external beading, have a spotter on the other side of the window is always a good idea.

    I'm curious why no mention of replacing the glazing tape? Are you reusing the old or do your windows not have double-sided glazing tape like most all these type windows here in the US?

    • @micjordan1919
      @micjordan1919 Před 2 lety

      Internally beaded doent use double sided tape it sits on rolled in rubber gasket

    • @rupertwilson7020
      @rupertwilson7020 Před rokem

      You are correct: for security and water seal, there should be double-sided glazing tape.. A lot of UK double-glazing was originally fitted as a rushed job, with no effort to seal the gap between window frame and wall, this latter made easier in recent hears by expanding 3M tape and similar.. the old method, using expanding foam, added a lot of time / an extra day visit to the job.. I guess not removing the cover tape from double-sided tape was another way to save a few minutes. Lazy approach.

      If you mean there are no beads? Check the outside, some older windows are externally beaded. You have to pull out the gasket from the inside, then the beads will loosen on the outside and you follow the same procedure as this video. Then just do it all in reverse to get the glass back in. Need a glazing spoon to get the gasket back in tho.

    Try glazing a 8inch square window when you can't bend the trim. Very difficult. Larger windows a quite easy
