Great story from Leo. I remember that song when i was 14 years old. I loved it as well. Glad to know that Elvis heard this song when i did as well back in 1977.

David Foster was married to a woman named Linda Thompson,a former Miss Tennessee winner. Not Ginger Aldren who was Elvis’ last GF that was with him the day he died (8/16/1977)

Two errors in his story: (1) Linda Thompson, Elvis's girlfriend for 4 1/2 years, married David Foster after her relationship with Elvis ended eight months before Elvis died. Ginger Alden, Elvis's girlfriend at the time he died, had not been previously married. (2) Elvis had no plans to see Leo Sayer "the next day" because Elvis was scheduled to fly to Portland, Maine later in the early evening of the day he died.

Hello. Indeed, you are correct, but to be fair, it was 40+ years before, so Elvis might have suggested he come to visit after his tour finished, and much retelling has made him remember it as the next day. Also, although he got the names mixed up, what the context might be is that the lovely Linda Thompson might have simply confirmed that Elvis was an admirer. I don’t think he was lying, merely mixing memory with facts. A lovely day to you.

Actually, Elvis knew he would be dead the next morning to play a prank on Leo.

@@Hughami Also, 'You Make Me Feel Like Dancing' was a Billboard hit in January 1977. I doubt he was the last person to speak to Elvis although maybe he thinks he was.

He did speak with him but maybe it wa a few days earlier. Or he was actually pranked by Terry again and he didn't have the heart to tell him.

You know he's lying because Sayers said Elvis invited him to come to the house tommorrow to hang out. One promblem Elvis was leaving for Portland Maine that day.

I believed it until he got to the part where, supposedly, Elvis went off to bed, shouting gleefully, "I'm going to see Leo tomorrow, I'm going to see Leo tomorrow!" Er, I don't think so...

Yes it's a lie Elvis had been on vacation for the last 6 weeks before getting ready for another short stint somewhere.
Leo is cashing in on Elvis, but is implying Elvis who prior to his death hadn't had a hit in years and was a parody of his former self, calling up the biggest name in pop at the time, which Leo sayer was.
Makes no sense, Leo was massive at this time, getting big offers from everywhere.
It's unlikely he'd have been interested in meeting a an old singer who'd by this time became a joke, who comedians would mock on stage, Turning up in liberace style jump suits, carrying a gold walking stick, wearing a massive buckle, huge wig, big sunglasses and stick on sideboards.
Elvis's fame rose after his death, his final hit stalled at 39 and was heading out of the charts, it only went back up due to his death and fans buying out of sympathy and others in the hope that it may one day be collectable.
Leo years later ended up in the same boat, mocked as cheesy, dated and trying to cash in on previous fame

I always liked Leo Sayers but his story is either totally made up or his memory is not very good since many things don’t add up here as some of the others reviewers pointed out.

People better stop talking about Jesus Christ and Abraham Lincoln, too. Do you ever talk about your dead relatives? Better stop. No one cares about them.
