    The Big Fastener lobby mandates annoying screws wherever possible.. For the price, It's a nice litter meter though for sure, especially for Hammy stuff.

    I don't know if it is a law, an industry standard, or just a way to keep from getting sued, but the purpose of the screw in small electronics is to keep small children from swallowing the batteries. It is more important on devices with button cells and actually is a law for them, but most manufacturers just put it on everything. The side effects of the litigious society in which we live
