    Thanks for the video Bob. I’ve been an MPAS user for a couple of years, mainly as a vertical that I carry in my Motorhome. You’ve provided some ideas for options! Good stuff!

    I love their stuff. top quality, My only complaint is how blunt the spike is. driving it into hard dirt takes a LOT of effort.

      Yep, I'm spoiled...can push my spike into the ground with my hand. TOP QUALITY for sure.

    That fiberglass mast from Max-Gain Systems in Heavy Duty is really nice with that machined piece from Chameleon

    I ended up with most of the MPAS pieces, but not by design. As long as you understand that the Hybrid ununs have a bit of loss (not much), the system is very effective.

    I love my TDL but it's difficult to use for me at home, as I'm on a second floor balcony. I get by with the 60ft wire in the trees off the balcony, but I've wondered at least once if I could get away with mounting the TDL sideways on the rail.

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  Před měsícem

      Portable use only with your situation. Me too really; the TDL gets just a little too much attention here in the HOA, so I can only install / use it for brief periods or at night.

    Thanks for your videos. More than informative and helpful. Question, when mounting mpas on the cha mast topper. How did you install counterpoise wire or radials. TIA 73's N7YSQ

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  Před měsícem +1

      Honestly I was focusing on the detail of getting everything up in the air rather than the final set up; your question is valid.
      I would attempt the following three methods 1) using the stinger / CHA Puck system 2) let the coax shield act as the radial 3) attached a floating radial on the stud of the Micro where it screws into the topper.
      With my soil conditions here in Tampa Bay, I'm pretty sure I'd get it to work just fine. But honestly, since I've not tested which would work best.

      @@HOAHamRadio thanks Bob. Just today I learned about the cha stingers and ordered a set. I already have the puck. Thanks again for your suggestions. :)

    I can see the reason for putting the deltaloop on the mast, but what is the point of putting the mpas mil whip set or mpas light telescopic whip on top of the 20 foot mast? wouldn't the elevated feed point now require a significant set of ground radials? that seems to negate the rapid deployment capability that the mpas provides. If I recall, the elevated feed point of a vertical performs best with 1/4 wave radials. My old roof mounted 5 band trap vertical needed 2 per band, and was a several hour install to get it to perform decently. What kind of results have you seen between the ground mount configuration vs elevated feed point with the factory supplied single 25 foot radials and with multiple radials?

    Great videos! Can the Delta Tactical be used as a permanent outdoor antenna? Do the telecopying antennas would damage with rain?

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  Před měsícem

      Thanks for stopping by. I'm gonna say its probably not intended for permanent install, but rather short term set up and use. I don't know everything about the Chameleon product, so maybe shoot them an email with that question.

    When making (DIY) coill to be attached to a whip. Does the gauge of wire in the coil matter? Is 8 awg better than 14 awg going around the coil?

    • @Chameleon_Antenna
      @Chameleon_Antenna Před měsícem

      If you aren’t going to push 1000’s of Watts- keep the wire gauge small. 16 or 14 is plenty!

    Why does nobody use the CAP HAT anymore? It's the easiest way to gain an S-Unit, or 2

      @@Chameleon_Antenna I'm here to change that! I sure hope you have a good supply of CAP HATS in stock because when I get done explaining to people they will be in high demand!
      I might have to get into it on my own channel though, so peeps don't feel like I hijacked their channels.
      Want an extra S-Unit? add a Cap Hat between your PRV and SS58... if your in a good spot you might gain 2
