    Clean and simple repair..
I have the same problem with my e65.. very annoying..
After some research i found replacement rubber parts on E-bay for about 50 pound each..
    Just search for doorstopper e65.
Thanks for the instructions my friend. Good video.

Awesome find! Thanks for sharing! Same problem here on a E66. I've had this problem scheduled on my list of diagnosis for awhile, just haven"t gotten around to it yet. Thanks for putting in the hard work!

Or search for door stop damper.

Does this problem cause the door to vibrate? My BMW e90 front passenger door vibrates when I go over bumps

  • @TravelCarsPasicevoPhotography

Very nice video, same problem on all for doors, passenger door not standing at all till full open...-750li restyle from 2005. I will try to do it myself. How much time did u spent on one door to get it all down (inner door plasric and get it back?)
And how to be sure that my about shock absorbers that are good or not?

first door took about 45 mins to get to the problem area as i was also investigating. Then i still needed to reassemble. Each door thereafter is about 20 mins. Took long to make a rubber grommet though. After a successful attempt the grommets took about 5 mins. They all still working just the way i had it after the repair which is now months since making the video. I did see some of these parts on Amazon and Ebay though if you want a simpler repair.

I just found out the driver door stop shock is missing the bolt with the round end that the shock hooks on. What is the name of this bolt and any idea where I can get it? I believe the shock is good but for some odd reason, the bolt is missing. Any help and advice would be great.

measure the inside diameter of the nut and get a replacement bolt, any one is fine. you can see the length in the video. Otherwise use the BMW part catalogue:

Hi there, thanks for the video. I also have the BMW E65. Interesting to see how we had the same problem at the same time.
However, may I ask - are you sure that only the rubber will do the trick? I have just paid 90 EUR (part number number 51 21 7 112 444) + labor for the complete set door shock (small rubber+whole shock absorber) and the door now feels great, like a safe deposit. The problem is, my other doors feels loose too. Isn't there more than just this rubber? I mean - will the shock itself be in need of replacement too? I am worried only to replace this small rubber like you did, because I don't know if the shock that is controlling that small rubber also need a change? Thanks

my four doors had the rubber totally destroyed. I changed all. I checked the shocks and they all good expect the front driver door is not as stiff as the others- probably from heavy use. My car is used a lot, children etc and the doors are the way they were right after repairing them, ie the rubber is holding well. In my front door the shock could be changed but it still offers some resistance so i am not going to change it. To answer your question, a shock can be checked. It should offer resistance when the pin is moved in either direction. My three shocks were still stiff.

Instead of half assing the repair go to your dealer and get the replacement oem part
ITS A BMW NOT A KIA TREAT IT RIGHT
don’t wanna spend the money don’t own the car
Think about that think about this just to get a window regulator done in my seven series E 65 is $1000 with somebody else doing the work today I went to the BMW dealership I bought a new window regulator a new hydraulic Door stay and the rubber grommet that he’s replacing all parts cost me $750 with me doing the labor myself so I managed to rebuild everything inside my door and still save $250 of the original thousand I was quoted to get just the window done
