Did you count the episode where he got shocked bad and almost die but got saved in the Faith Healer episode? Just wondering if this counts since he was about to die and wouldn't have if he didnt get the faith Healer to kill someone else.
It's more that that. Hard to put a definite number on it cause its left pretty vague. But besides all Dean's Mystery Spot deaths and probably in addition to all the actual on screen deaths, there are more implied. Like Ash said, "You boys die more than anyone I have ever met." And that was clear back in season 5!

I think Bobby and Charlie's deaths were probably the two that hit the hardest. Kevin's was sad and I was pissed to see Crowley go, but Charlie was like a little sister to the boys, Charlie and Dean clicked most of all and Bobby was like a father.
Along with Mary's second death. Cas's final death with the empty, and then Jack's first death. But then NO ONE will forget Deans final death

Answers or possible answers
#10: 1st off, part of the reason why they didn't do much was the risk of letting Lucifer out, which prior to going into the cage Sam made Dean promise not to look for a way to get him out of the cage and for several months, Dean didn't do anything about it.
2nd: To say Sam & Dean were friends with Crowley is not the case until at least the 9th season. He was one of the main villains during the 6th season, only worked with Sam & Dean against a common threat for the 7th, was the main villain for the 8th. Also Crowley has said during the 6th season when the main cast were trying to get Sam's soul from the cage that Crowley can't do it and again out right says during the 11th season that even thou he's the King of Hell, he can't do anything about the cage. Also Dean during the 6th season asks Death to free both Sam's soul and Adam, which he refuses saying he'll only do one of those things not both, which forced Dean to choose. So Not much they could do & very big risk if they tried.

My GF knows nothing about Kansas or classic rock but loves Carry On My Wayward Son, and I think that's awesome. My favorite part of each season is that song kicking in for the season recap.
I liked the running bit with the grenade launcher. Dean was shut down so many times by Sam throughout the seasons.
