I think we can all agree that in every movie where the rock is a protagonist, he just plays himself, which is why in Fast 5 where he plays a bad guy, it’s by far his best acting performance.
He’s not a bad guy though. He’s with law enforcement (and he’s not corrupt)...so technically he’s the good guy, though we’re rooting for Dom and his team...who is something of an anti-hero.
@@AxeKick80 I'd say he's kind of corrupt, cuz remember Elena said that Dom and his crew weren't the type to do the "crime" they were accused of cuz it's not the same type as their previous crimes but Hobbs didn't, he just wanted to kill them and get his job over with

I'm sure there are murders who don't get that much attention. "You heard me"- Who the f... he thinks he is. He's walking around with a badge around his neck. The character is a clown.
Dwayne is so different here than in the sequels. More in sync with his character, more intense and driven, even the voice tone is different. Plus his southern accent is so badass.
Hobbs was 100% texan lawman in the first movie... then got retconned into a mechanic from Hawaii or whatevee

Hobbs has changed so much since his first appearance it’s a shame really since his performance was so much better in this movie.
he shouldve spent more time with this attitude, or atleast dont make his transition finish on his teams death. I wish the rock had his crew from this movie or atleast had more screentime with them. looked like a lot of history and chemistry between them to waste the characters/actors

I really wish they kept Hobbs character wanting to capture Dom/being a friendly rivalry.
To this day, The Rock's character is the only one who could defeat Dom at this point and send him to jail

Hobbs here is a one tough guy you would not joke around. but in the rest of the movies, he just transformed into the Rock...
They should have kept Hobbs like this. His character would in essence be Dom's endgame in the fact he would capture him whenever the series would end and until it ends, he would be a friendly rival to him in the movies before. Hated Fast6 for getting rid of all the tension amd actual story for Hobbs to exonerate them and basically be part of their crew.
That was dumb af 😂😂😂 but I knew there was going to be a part 6,7,8 after that

@@TheMETALICA40 Also doesnt matter if he was bluffing or not, while Dom is wanter criminal most likely considered armed and dangerous, Hobbs is still limited by laws, one of which ties his hands bit, since he cant hit without reason, as in Dom had his hands down, so unless Hobbs kept distance and waited for him to lift them and warn him to put them down, he couldnt have attacked no matter how much he wanted to, judging from the actions Hobbs took, he had absolutely no care about trying to avoid the fight. As soon as Dom hit him, he got full legal rights to fight back. For whatever unrealistic aspects the movie had, one thing that was realistic until the bridge scene was Hobbs obeying laws

That scene where Hobbs realizes Dom’s crew switched the safes to fool him-I think that’s where he actually came to respect Dom. No wonder he promises to have the whole crew exonerated if they help him in Fast and Furious 6.

The role of Hobbs was initially envisioned as a Tommy Lee Jones type of character. Makes sense when you listen to Johnson in this movie. He does have a light Southern accent in this movie. He's much more intense in this movie & a lot of that edge was taken away in the sequels.
Compiling all these scenes, it makes me think that this series could’ve made a better tv show rather than movie series.
What with how many movies we've gotten, it's already become one.
