I miss the old boss fights. It wasn't just another enemy with more health. It actually felt important to the world. Like this for example. I remember as a kid I was so excited to see how he'd defeat a massive kraken. The answer is the most pleasant experience ever.
Same but it's something off about Kratos' character model in God of War Ascension.
The other games (GOW 1 - 3) his trapezius and shoulders look right.

It only looks like that because it was enhanced. Play it again on ps3 or Xbox 360 you will see how dated it is.

@@Ifalvarado sure, when this one is the ps5 version. Like what you said "was". So it had its share during its time and these are the enhanced versions if streamed or played in pc.
@@shadowsnake3867 you know there is no true PS5 version but it is streamed from actual PS3 hardware, so this is a natural ps3 version with nothing upscaling textures, etc. Unless you are using RSPC3
@@Ifalvarado true, no ps5 version but with its streaming service it's enhanced. Most of the games played via streaming on ps5 or Xbox x are enhanced. They load faster and less likely to experience frame rate drops. And if you look at the thumbnail of this video on the left lower corner it is played on ps5 not ps3 hardware. Emulated and streamed from ps3 library but, still played on ps5 console. You can use an emulator on pc but, with next gen consoles makes them look better for as long as you know how to tweak it to make it better. Try getting a ps3 or Xbox 360 with their games plug it on a 4k TV without an enhancer cables or splitter 4k enhancer it will show its date.
i love how everyone in gow series think they could take down kratos easily just because he's a "mortal" haha

Kratos is a Demi god.
Imo one of the best boss fights in whole series. It is very cinematic, like a movie. The music, the boss closeup's, drifting on his tentacles, the views and more. Boss itself had probably the scariest look of all of them.
It's even better because, right after you finish off the main boss, you then get some sweet retribution by FINALLY destroying Tisiphone and her illusions for good in a series of vicious QTEs, and THEN it puts you in control one last time to hit R1 and administer the killing blow to Alecto to end things!

@@damarfadlan9251 I like 2018 but really the combat with elemental blades really is something really special to my heart. Plus Kratos’ attitude and defiance in Ascension is unparalleled.

14:20 - 15:20 this is PEAK Kratos. This is why Zeus feared him, this is why other Gods called him a mortal so that he could not realise his potential , because once he realizes his Godhood, there will be no stopping him and Ares saw this very spark in him and that is why he purposely kidnapped Deimos instead of Kratos, so that he could use him against Olympus.
Ares wanted to kill Kratos though, Athena basically forced him to leave Kid Kratos alone.
I think Deimos indeed was the marked one who was going go destroy the Gods, I mean He literally survived in the underworld which kills any mortal... not only that but he lived without eating or anything, his hatred for kratos manifested some of his power that kept him alive.
Ares was glad to make Kratos his slave because he knew the history of Kratos, A brother of Deimos and son of Zeus would make for the perfect warrior... however In time Kratos became what his brother should've been and even more powerful.
@@angelsrageunleashed5441 Nah. It was Kratos all along who would be prophesied as the Marked Warrior. Instead of the Gods diverting the prophecy, they merely set it in motion. Even Thanatos said that the Oracle lied and it should have been Kratos that got kidnapped instead of Deimos.
@@SinfulofSauce the prophecy was a self fulfiling one so it could never be changed, if Ares chose Kratos that night then Deimos indeed would end Olympus as I said he indeed was the marked one, his tattoes glow and everything.

I guess because he attains the power of a god regeneration, this game is before the first game so he is not the god of war yet.
He is a mortal trained by aries and helped by other gods. But in the latest game you can see him heal his wounds like wolverine.
Kratos can heal at will not like instantly but at will.
How this game looked and played on the PS3 is still to this day astonishing to me.

Feel like this game didn’t get as much love as God of War 3 for some reason. This is the most epic game in the original series by far
It’s because that was the end of the series and this one was good but unnecessary. It felt more like a fun side quest than the ultimate fate of kratos
GOW 3 is my least favorite even though it was the one I was the most excited for. If GOW Ascension would have been released before GOW 3 it would have received a lot of love.

To be fair this isn't the Kraken, it's Alecto:Queen of the furies, Shirrako got that wrong. The giant Kraken in God of War 2 is THE Kraken, still I get your point. I'm not well known about their canon powerlevels but Alecto in her seamonster form is like twice the size of the hydra.

I remember when this game was sort of considered the black sheep of the series. I think it holds up super well. Tbh, I prefer all of the older games before 2018. They had such an intensity to them.

Not as great as previous GOW releases, but still excellent in gameplay and epic, cinematic boss fights. I am still missing classic distance camera - almost isometric view, jumping and all the dynamic action with tricks which were taken away from the latest GOW. But who knows, maybe one day SM Studio will return back to this type of gameplay.

Older gameplay mechanics are eventually revived and brought back to life... besides you can combine it with the current view and mix it in kind of hybrid gameplay. I think both views have their advantages and none of them is superior to other. Older one was much more dynamic and fun in my opinion, but that's just my opinion ;)
@@kylelevinson7506 Devs can create hybrid views for specific combat sequences and type of enemies. First of all they should implement jumping to the moves and maybe give player freedom for more than just one 3rd person view.
