GHS Endorser, Dave Pomeroy, sits down to chat about the GHS Super Steels Series. The stainless steel wrap wire provides a bright tone for a long period of time. One of the loudest strings available
The Contact Core Super Steels will actually sustain in similar fashion to the the normal super steels. The exposed core is used to help improve brightness, tension and intonation.
I've used these strings. I dig them. The action isn't that tricky to set up, just measure your string height at the 12th fret with regular strings and then set the saddle height for the same height with the new strings AFTER you've adjusted neck relief. It increases the break angle over the saddle, too.
Versatile bassists understand that fingerstyle, pick, thumb are all good to have in your repertoire. Speaking as someone who used to hate picking and has seen the light, players who hate picks usually do so because they're purists and have blinders on. Gotta keep an open mind, guys. When you let go of that aggro 16 year old mentality, you'll understand. And yes, @TRJBASS, Flea uses a pick on several RHCP songs, like Parallel Universe, By the Way, et al.
@2112frusciante The silk at the end of a bass strings helps to cover the exposed metal that will come in contact with the bass' tuning pegs. Without the silk the metal string would wear against your metal tuning pegs damaging the machine heads on your guitar.
@BassPlayerBedwell The life of a string can depend on how long you play, what conditions you play in and if you clean them after use. I've actually had good luck with this set and players usually get a couple months (if not more) out of a set.
@WarLikeSoad117 All of our roundwound sets are great for rock, pop, metal and other popular genres. If you are looking for something right in the middle I would try the Bass Boomers. If you feel those may be too dark for yout sound step up to the Progressives or the Super Steels. Your best bet is to experiment!
Having Dave Pomery do these videos is the best decision a gear company has ever made. Love them all. great job Dave and GHS
These are the best videos about strings on youtube! Finally a place where you can absolutely tell the difference between different models

the Super Steels come in a variety of sizes and gauges. They have a nice pop to them and resonate more from the stainless steel wrap.

@TRJBASS I know, I'm talking about the ones who do
are theses strings good for slap? are they thin or thick? can you get them in different seizes?
I bought these strings and they had rust spots :-\
5000th view yey!
The frets look completely worn down on that bass.
@visog Why can't pick players be heard a band? J/k Lol (RHCP are an exception)
@DYNASTYBASSMASTA20 Flea does not use a pick,
Why do all finger-style bassists suck at pick?
