    Today, I'm picking daffodils from the garden to use in a vase.
    Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common "gardening for beginners" type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens, growing flowers, and planting beautiful organic food is something I'm really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, cut flowers, vegetables, and much more.

    Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

    What is "@freshcutky"?
    @freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you'll see random projects, cooking, and of course - growing stuff. I'm not an expert, and would never claim to be. There's always more to learn - this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including CZcams) is to share ideas. I do my best to offer information that is useful, but reliance on that information is strictly at your own risk and NOT a substitute for professional advice of any kind. My son cut my lily's off when he was weed eating the weeds around the flowers. They were about to burst into bloom, I was upset, but I didn't scold him. They will grow back, but hurtful words can't be undone.

    I didn’t used care much for daffodils - until last year. Someone was selling big bunches of them at their farm gate and I kind of fell in love with them! They are so incredibly cheerful and do last quite a while if you change the water often etc. Super video!

      That's so true. Before I started growing them, I had no idea that there were so many beautiful varieties. Now, I just want a big field of them! Lol!

    A host of golden daffodils ;

    I really enjoy your channel and your beautiful flowers. Thanks for this video I needed some flower power, the kind that grows out of your own ground, not the kind that you go and buy at the store. My Daffs are still closed, sigh, zone 5b. 🌷 💐

    This is so helpful, thank you! I didn't know about the toxic sap that the daffs have. Question: can I extend the life of the daffodils by putting them into a cooler/fridge? A niece wants me to make bouquets for her wedding shower and I'd love to extend the life of my daffs (currently blooming) so I can use them in the bouquets. Thank you!

      I personally never add anything to daffodil vases. I prefer changing the water every other day. It seems to keep the flowers looking nice and fresh. Thanks so much for watching! :)

    Will they bloom again after I cut them?

    • @sveltus290
      @sveltus290 Před rokem

      Yes if you take only the flower and if you let the foliage die by itself.

  • @splishshinesplash
    @splishshinesplash Před 3 lety

    Do they come back (perennial) after you cut them

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers
      @TONYAwiththeflowers  Před 3 lety +2

      As long as only the flowers are removed, the plants will come back each year. Always make sure to leave the foliage in place and let the plant die back naturally. Good luck!
