- No shortcuts. Moonwalking is difficult. It's harder than walking, and learning how to walk is absurdly hard -- watch any baby trying to figure it out.
Learn the principles behind the illusion and tips on how to really sell it. - Jak na to + styl
Once I master this I will never walk forward again
lol
Once you start walking, you never look back. Once you start moonwalking, if you're doing it right you always look back.
I FUCKING GOT IT I FUCKING GOT IT
RD FazBear [FNAF] lol

Oh Yeah Yeah ......

It's dembe the meme.. Remember the incident from 1942? Yeah. That.
Oh no no
Holy shit I've been moonwalking all my life, finally just learned how to walk forward... thanks man!
silly
Lol
Sira ulo!!!
Are you moonwalking forward?
This is the best tutorial on moonwalking. I used to try it for fun (in my much younger days) but couldn’t quite figure it out. Watching this, now, I think I could have done it properly. Ironically, though, I now have only one leg so I don’t think I will be able to pull it off (the dance, not my leg - I can pull that off). Life is just full of surprises.
Rip ur leg from time to time
Uh ok
I think you could still do it Marlene. Yes, if you have the desire to do it that is.
@@phjr.7889 😂😂😂wtf
"Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing is impossible to you."
Thanks for the walking tutorial.
wow
Honestly, IMO, any moonwalking tutorial that doesn't include vanilla regular walking is an incomplete tutorial
wow
Albert Hwang I did the moonwalk the hard way before when I just learned how to do it the easy way I broke my toes,my ankle oh yeah and my whole leg I'm sticking to the easy way lol
Wow this is so easy
You’re a great teacher! This is how things should be taught. Broken down into fundamentals. Not many teach that way for some reason
From a lifelong, retired college prof, I hope, in addition to being a dancer, that you are a teacher -- of something, anything. It's a whole skill set in itself and you're excellent at it.
I agree. I like how this is broken down.
Absolutely. Nice work.
Which college were you a prof at?
This turned into moonwalking to math real quick
hate bro! For reals.
Carlos Diaz Yeah 😂
*HEEEYYY,ARE YOU A HATER OF MICHAEL JACKSON????????*
*BECAUSE YOU'R PROFILE IS WITH MICHAEL AND NAME IS "HATE" I HOPE YOU'RE NOT A HATER*
ROTFLMAO!!
Are you the nicest, most eloquent guy ever? I think so. Thanks for posting this.
I just edit out all the mean and meandering parts : )
If you want to listen to me meander, watch my other dance lecture vids. Less eloquent for sure.
Thanks for watching!
The Galskion Goverment Oh, he`s just rubbiing it in you see.
It's feel wired for me as someone who's wheelchair to be watching this type of video. But I have learnt to Moonwalk with my wheelchair.
Hey, you could be on to something, get creative, really i say that in honest faith in you!
Yes good for you. I learned the moonwalk by this video and I have spinal cerebral ataxia type 13. I basically walk like a drunk. Now I can moonwalk like a drunk. Love this video.
@@crissycurrycurry7812 you gotta be awesome 🤯🎉🌟💖
Haha fair play to ya. ✌️
What's wired 😂😂😂it's weird
I don't think even mj gave it this much thought.
Because you are projecting your common sense instead of realizing the hard work and dedication that Jackson placed into his entertainment skills...all those years of child abuse has caused him to obtain genius level bodily mastery.
He actually used to practice moves like this for hundreds of hours until he perfected every aspect of them. MJ gave this tons more thought than this video accounts for.
HE TRAINED IMMENSE LIKE VERY HARD FOR HIS DANCE
I'm sure
You’re kidding, right?
MJ had more time on this step than this kid has in life.
Seriously.
@John Fisher lmfaooo
Really love the analysis and comparison of regular walking to moonwalking. Makes a lot more sense why the dance/move itself has such a illusion
I'm 2minutes in, and i'm really watching this asian dude teach me how to walk…
What am i doing with my life ?

@@spadishthedishx9340 People need to stop dropping the "racism" card in every damn situation. What i said wasn't racist at all.

Amazing explanation.....
Great Tutorial
Why oh why try to teach how to moonwalk in a cupboard😂
Very helpful and thorough! I never realized so much was going into everyday walking. I think artists of all disciplines have a vigilance about seeing things more profoundly. And as we have always heard to get great at anything takes tremendous amounts of practice. I have a daughter who draws and paints, she has taught me so much about how artists are seeing the world with a more detailed focus and then practicing over and over regarding what the focus is on...this seems to be true with drawing, painting, writing, danciing playing musical instrument, singing or whatever your creative love tends to gravitate toward. Thanks for sharing!
I just wanted to point out, most tutorials do not break it down like this, you literally put it in the right perspective. I was already kinda able to do it from lots of practice, watched this 10 minutes, and now I got it. Thank you!
I just made and account just to say how much I appreciate your work and think you're genuinely a great teacher. Thanks for all the help man and keep it up.
asd asd Awesome, thanks! Remember to subscribe / like / share!
You, Sir, are a very fine teacher, with the perfect integration of theoy and practice..
Thank you so much, Albert! I knew how to do this for approximately 15 minutes back in 1984 . I was in the Navy at the time. I'm a few years older, now, and suddenly need to learn this again (I don't think we can term this "mid-life crisis" stuff at my age-- 64. )
Always enjoyed dancing, and even now I'm still very energetic when I dance. Thirty-something women ask me to dance, sometimes (well, used to, before Covid-19). Perhaps now I can reconnect with those 15 minutes!
Again, thank you, Albert-- you broke this down perfectly. (I might catch on in a month or two-- or hopefully by the time the Covid has passed or been defeated). I've probably got lots of time to practice, but I certainly see some fun in the future!
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I've been practicing for a while and what I find hard is supporting the weight of my body on the ball of the foot. Walking normally the weight is spread across the whole foot which also makes it easier to balance. I think shoes make a difference too, specifically how wide and stiff the soles are.
I have always wanted to know how it worked. MJ just made it look so effortless! And while I instinctively knew it was about transferring weight onto the wrong foot, it still didn’t make any sense to me. This video was totally awesome for that! But not only just understanding the Moonwalk, but also understanding how and why we walk naturally, plus the assumptions we make observing the action. Once we’ve learned a skill, like walking, we take it for granted and rarely take the time to fully understand the action after it’s been assimilated. Great video! Thanks!
everyone can SEE that a well executed moonwalk is cool and thanks to you I now understand WHY -- DUDE . . . if you decide to offer lectures on fluid dynamics, astrophysics or statistical analysis I'll gladly sign up; your explanation is eloquent and precise, but your public speaking skills are what's most impressive -- relaxed, natural and easy going but so POLISHED (no awkward pauses, no extraneous 'ands or 'ummms); its a pleasure to hear someone so well spoken
ha ha ha . . . just looked up your videos posted on YT and saw videos for spatial computing, vr interactivity as well as performance and dance videos - it's plain to see you're a highly developed left AND right-brained person and this accounts somewhat for your ability to present concepts in the manner that you do
This guy is an excellent teacher. Breaks the process down very well. Thanks.
after 2 months of watching hundreds of videos and constantly learning... now I gotten so much better at it. I think this ws by far the best tutorial as weight shifting is the most important thing to learn this step.
To call this a brilliant presentation would be an understatement.
You go beyond teaching; you are a facilitator.
This comes from a guy (me) who was born and will die with both feet in the same shoe.
I dance like a Neanderthal on Valium, therefore I abhor the dancing scene.
I never went for the girl who dances like a breeze; I went for the one who likes movies.
I don't care. But seeing you explaining & describing, making it looks easy and logical to understand, well, Albert, all I can say is: YOU, YOU (as Robert De Niro says it to Billy Crystal on Analyze This)
Keep on sharing, please.
Wow, this has to be the most thoroughly explained video in CZcams history.
Wow I have never thought I could figure this out but you are a phenomenal teacher. Being an elementary teacher for many years equates to how well can you put info in to must succinct form that is easily understood and processed by the learner… Well done my friend…I am now ready to learn.
You are the man . I've been wanting to do this ever since I was a child. I'm 38 and now I can do it because your video. Thank you
description hard to follow.

Looking forward to learning this. Loved how you broke it down, made it so easy to understand
First time ever I see a physics explanation of the moon walk... neat :D
I love watching all the old videos of the moon walk originally done in the 1920s and Elvis did a form of it too.
Albert, you created one of the best youtube videos on how to moonwalk. Thanks for teaching me how to walk Tenet style
This is great for when I suddenly become self-conscious of my walk in public, I can just remember his explanation on how walking works
after this I will never walk normally again
AquaF1ame that's what happened to me
Thats what she said
Haha..thats right
Neither will i
Screw it, I’m just going to crawl .
this video it's soo good... is easy to learn with you thank you... but could you make more videos teaching mj dancing??? please!!!. ... greetings from Peru!!!! :-)

Great video, its amazing how yoi go so much deeper in your explanation of this dance, keep up the great work
Best explanation on CZcams of how to do the Moonwalk. Very well taught!
Neil Armstrong should watch this
Neil Armstrong died in 1997, initially he had Testicular(Balls) cancer from radiation exposure due to the Van Allen Belt he went through on his trip to the moon. The cancer SLOWLY went from his balls(Testes) to his stomach(tummy), then liver then hoped a ride to his breasts(yes men get it too) then lymph nodes(arm pit region) and finally stage IV-A cancer of the brain(the section that he needed to keep living) diagnosed in 1996. His ashes(after his body was cremated) were ejected into space by a Uganda satellite in 2002. He was a great man.
Too bad Neil never set foot on the moon.

My friend, that was the most comprehensive, understandable, inspiring tutorial of the moonwalk I have seen. Thank you. I will definitely be looking at all your material. Thank you thank you. You speak my language and teach perfectly
Best Moonwalker tutorial I have EVER seen - Thank you.
He is good teaching this...!!! Thanks.!
this is an amazing tutorial
Incredible how you transformed a small room into a full size dance studio. No excuses! If I want to learn I don't need the perfect setup! Just do it!
I've seen people walk for years, but couldn't do it myself. I started practicing this instruction a week ago and was able to get the mail today!!
Is this gonna be on the midterm?
Awesome man. I learned the moonwalk a long time ago but as extensive as this is really nice.
Also with the story part at the end, it was so simple and short but still very useful. I never thought about a story in my dance, I just did whatever came up to me.That way my dance is quite individual and doesn't have interaction with people.
Do you have a video where you go further into that or maybe make one?
Snowspin Interesting... the role of stories in freestyle dancing. I'll definitely consider it.

Thanks again for the great suggestion!
This is a fantastic explanation of how it is done and what else needs to be done to 'sell' the "magic" of the move. Well Done !!!
Best moonwalk tutorial I've found. Thanks so much
I learned so much your videos are amazing
Maria1235467 I freaking learned how to walk lol
R.I.P MJ
He died 9 years ago right?
rafa does youtube He died in 2009
R.i.p stan lee😭😭
His legacy will live on.

I've wanted to learn how to moonwalk for so looooong. This is freaking amazing!!
You have a terrific future as an instructor, as well as a dancer. Hope your life is exactly what you want (all our lives are at this moment exactly what we want, btw. It's a tough teaching). You're a doll.
Thanks, this was helpful. At first I watched other videos and tried doing it but I didn't know you needed to put your weight on the foot that was on it's tip.
How to walk tutorial, nice vid btw
Really interesting!
Can’t dance and I’m not particularly coordinated, but this looks doable to learn. Thanks, I expect to watch many times.
I'm almost 60 and I always wanted to learn the moonwalk. Your explanation is the easiest to understand. Maybe now I can get my groove on.
ok so this seems inpossible at least for me so let me break it down in to easy steps ok.
1. Go to the moon
2. walk...
3. keep walking
Not funny at all
Searching funny
My uncle did that back in 1969
Wow I’m laughing so hard right now
I like that
I really, really enjoy your videos, just discovered them recently! This particular video brought back an idea I had of doing a tutorial on a dance move called the "running man", albeit broken down to the finer points, like this video. Other tutorials I've seen either don't cover enough or plainly doing it wrong. I'd like to rectify this and create an insightful tutorial on it (It'll be my first) I'll post a link some time soon in a comment, check it out if you're interested! I've been branching out from the Melbourne Shuffle to more freestyle dance like the stuff you teach, keep the tutorials coming, Albert. :)
Wow, this is the best dance move tutorial I've ever seen. Thanks!
You're the first tutorial to talk about the arms, helps a lot Thanks

I showed it to my 4 month year old brother he said that t helped him!
This is one complicated moonwalk. Some tutorials are more likely to be easier. But thank you for your great effort. Every moonwalker(MJ fans) will appreciate this. 😉😘😄
is he a fucking science teacher?
GaMeR GoD 22 no he's a magician
I'm a dance teacher! And fortunately the types of dance I teach are best understood through concepts borrowed from math, science, and magic
Funniest Comment yes magic you son of a beep lol jk
GaMeR GoD 22
He is a teacher, obviously, and he applies the scientific method: analyse, establish a model, define performance criteria, implement the model, evaluate results, repeat.
So he definitely is a scientific teacher at least.
Excellent job covering the details here! Understanding the illusion like this definitely helps for practice. Please continue to make more videos like this! :)
bro! you're my hero! Thanks a gizillion for this !
the most efficient way to teach/learn the moonwalk y'all
Thank you! Your explanation of the mechanics and video helped enormously. It's starting feel automatic :)

I like you going the mechanics of motion instead of just showing slow motion. Thanks definitely subscribing, hoping for more detailed instrucion on different moves. Don't have alot of extra time for extended videos but I like yours, didn't think it was to long because it yielded alot of valuable information to examine and learn.

Arrgghh Thank you! I am not a dancer (took a few summer tap dance and swing dance classes at various points, but that's it) but I have always thought this would be a fun thing to learn. Every time I have looked up tutorials though the first thing that happens is I start wobbling and have no clue where the weight is supposed to go. In the tap dance classes I did I was that annoying person asking where the weight was supposed to be and how to transfer it all the time because I kept getting stuck not being able to go to the next move or almost tipping over otherwise. I have no natural sense of where it should be so I need to be told, lol. I don't know why it never occured to me until tonight to literally just... include the word "weight" in my search for a moonwalk tutorial. I just did it and this is the first thing that popped up. It's exactly what I was looking for. I'm gonna literally just practice the first step over and over on each side independently until I can shift the weight to the correct foot at the correct time properly.
This makes so much more sense!!! Thank you
is it possible to do the moonwalk but forward
Phoenikz Gaming nalied it bruh😁😁
I watch him cause he knows every word he says it seems
