It's going to be tough for any given team to ensure they can draft him. Arizona, Philly, Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim, Columbus, etc. all in the mix. He could even go to Vancouver or Ottawa if they draw lucky. Who knows. But after seeing him get 14 points in 3 games this past week, if you want Bedard so badly you need to find a way to lose the next 45-50 games because losing the next 35 will probably not be good enough - there will be another team with no self-respect that will want to lose more than that.
Yep. Many other teams who are going nowhere this season will want to tank for Bedard or at least aim for a top 3 spot. Hughes and Gorton should stick to their plans and if that ends up getting us a great pick at the next draft, that's a plus.
@@only_6486 the only teams that should be this bad are Chicago for tearing their team apart last offseason and Montreal for having a dcore straight out of kindergarden and useless vets who are either always injured or just coasting to free agency. Colombus has signed Gaudreau so they surely didn't expect to tank, Anaheim has already a bunch of very good young players, San Jose still has good veterans producing, Arizona is a joke of a franchise that doesn't deserve Bedard and Philly is in a similar boat to San Jose. So the only teams that deserve to draft Bedard are Chicago and Montreal.
@@vinceslapchopper I think Bedard would want to dodge Anaheim. That culture really stinks over there. They have real mental issues. They get frustrated and take way too many penalties, and Zegras is too busy focusing on making highlight reel goals and not playing defense. But most of all, when they lose, they are sore losers and check people after the whistle and cause shit at the end of a bad game, which is almost all the time. I hope Bedard doesn't end up there.
There are risks to going to Montreal. They will almost certainly make the playoffs with Bedard, but generally it's a good idea not to rebuild too quickly and build through the draft the same way Colorado and Tampa and Pittsburgh did (with the help of a lockout in the latter case). Buffalo is using the same pattern and it's going to pay off. Montreal only has 3 forwards that will likely stick around in the next 4 years, and I see a lot of holes on their defense. They will almost certainly be forced to fish in the UFA market if they draft Bedard, which could be really expensive since you would need a lot of pieces and will have to compete with other teams to acquire them. It's a double-edged sword and I think a team like Columbus does not have this problem. Columbus has good players and a lot of talent in their system already.
I think Columbus would be the best team to go, or Vancouver. I'm not talking about odds, but just places where he could thrive very early without suffering during an extended rebuild the way Clayton Keller has.

I caution you that if yiu focus on Connor Bedard you may be really disappointed after the draft.
There are other players to look at who are more likely to be available.
When you have a chance to draft the next Crosby or McDavid do it. Or forever regret the next 10-15 years
Fans and media members who want a few months of semi-competitive, meaningful hockey are just so shortsighted. They'd rather have a few months of around .500 hockey instead of elite talent for 15 years. When Chicago, Arizona, Columbus, or Anaheim draft Bedard, I want all those anti-tankers to cheer super loudly and say, "Boy, I'm so glad the Habs didn't draft Bedard and I got to see more mediocre hockey from January to April."

You should want to beat the Panthers because you can't control their losses but you can control your own.
