With the infotainment online services you can always reach your destination safely and comfortably. The services are available for the ŠKODA infotainment systems «AMUNDSEN» and «COLUMBUS». The validity is extended regularly.
In addition to the optional Virtual Cockpit, which allows the driver to select different displays for the instrument panel and navigation maps, the ŠKODA SUPERB offers a choice of three infotainment systems - two of which have a navigation function? The Bolero infotainment system and the Amundsen navigation infotainment system, including maps on an SD card, each come with an 8-inch touchscreen. The Columbus infotainment system features a 9.2-inch touchscreen, a DVD player as well as gesture and voice control. The hard drive provides the navigation map and plenty of space for storing music and videos. All of the systems come with SmartLink technology for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink™ as standard; this allows selected smartphone apps to be operated via the infotainment system’s display. A SIM card provides permanent Internet access as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot and enables use of the wide range of ŠKODA Connect mobile online services.
Via the ŠKODA Media Command app, passengers with a Wi-Fi-compatible smartphone or tablet can access the infotainment system from anywhere in the vehicle. Using an optional tablet holder, devices can be securely attached to the centre armrest in the rear or to the front seat headrests. Smartphones can be charged inductively using the Phone Box in the centre console; a wireless connection to the car’s external aerial improves reception. Treating occupants of the vehicle to perfect acoustics, the optional CANTON sound system boasts eleven speakers and a subwoofer in the boot. The L&K version is fitted with a CANTON sound system as standard.
For the fourth generation of its bestseller, ŠKODA has improved the Virtual Cockpit even further. The latest generation of the digital and individually customisable instrument panel comes with a 10.25-inch screen and is now even more user-friendly. The driver can choose from four different layouts - Basic, Classic, Navigation and Driver Assistance Systems - and specify their desired content using the controls on the multifunction steering wheel. For the OCTAVIA RS, there is also an exclusive Sport layout. In the Driver Assistance Systems layout, activated systems are shown three-dimensionally - and are even mirrored in the central display.
The ŠKODA OCTAVIA’s eSIM provides access to ŠKODA Connect mobile online services. These include eCall, which is mandatory in the EU and automatically calls for emergency assistance in the event of an accident, and Proactive Service (breakdown call), which transmits the position and status of the vehicle to the breakdown service in the event of a technical problem. The vehicle status report automatically stores important data each time the ignition is switched off. In addition, Proactive Service can keep in contact with the garage, allowing service notifications to be relayed, service appointments to be scheduled or relevant data to be transmitted in the event of a breakdown. The remote vehicle access via the ŠKODA Connect app or the ŠKODA Connect web portal allows owners, for example, to retrieve vehicle information and driving data, display the car’s parking location, and activate the remote-controlled Honk & Flash function making it easier to find the OCTAVIA in the car park, as well as to lock and unlock the doors and close any open windows. The Infotainment Online services backed by online data offer route calculations, real-time traffic information as well as help with the search for petrol stations and parking spaces. For streaming services or the provision of a Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers, data packages can easily be added from the vehicle.
The new OCTAVIA offers up to five USB-C ports for charging or connecting media devices and USB sticks with the infotainment system. Two USB-C ports in the front centre console are standard, another two in the rear together with a 230-V socket and another USB-C port in the overhead console above the rear-view mirror are optionally available. Using the optional Phone Box, smartphones can also be charged inductively and paired to the vehicle’s external aerial. The acoustically optimised interior and the new optional CANTON Sound System ensure a perfect audio experience.

Thankyou I have this , it's a little overwhelming initially but getting used to after having car from 2006! One thing, how do I turn off infotainment display and continue to listen to radio..I can't find display off anyway unless turn it off 🤔
Thanks Adrian 🙏🙂 I think you can't turn it off and still hear radio. Maybe you can turn down the briteness of the screen

Does the 2020 (or new 2021 model year) Kodiaq has the same system or is it the old system?

Mark in the navigation system you will have an option somewhere in the middle and all you do is to push it and you can choose to see it on multimedia or on cockpit 👍Hope you can find it. I did show it in another video of mine if iam not wrong in VW cars are the same.👍

Rented a Skoda for 24 hours took 23 hours trying to find out how the screens work.Too many lights flashing distracting you whilst driving.Information messages should be displayed before driving not when driving.

This is not useful for me. It is very general and does not address the Navigation system in any detail. I have a brand new Octavia iV but I cannot input destination addresses. Simple addresses are not found. Once an address is found (I hope sometime!) how do I store it for future use? Stirring the map around with your finger is no use to me.
Ron it should be in the menu a setting where you can save the address like Home and Work. Look at the navigation setting 👍🙂Hope you find it
@@SDADanCars Thanks for the reply, but Home & Work are not useful; I don't work (retired) and I know where I live! The system would not allow me yesterday to input addresses. Then I asked Laura - "OK Laura, navigate new route". She asked for the address line-by-line and that worked OK. But I think I'll go back to navigating with my Garmin using GPS coordinates. Quick, easy and precise.

Those displays are just stupid! Too much digital stuff! Just wait a while. After a couple of months all sorts of sensors will go wild and you’ll have dashboard full of red and orange lights!
