Been a AMX/Javelin guy since the 70's and with only 2,501 Mark Donahue Editions built, makes for one rare ride...always liked the BBB the best vs BBG and BBO...plus those Sidewinder pipes really makes it stand out...this one is defintely on my radar and thanks for sharing.
I think I remember an orange one in San Rafael as a kid. I remember the spoiler over the back window. I remember the stripes were different than the other cars of the day. There were lots of Camaros, Mustangs, & Challengers (a couple of Cudas too) even a few Mavericks (most weren’t the “Hot Ones”, 1 Cyclone. Seeing these cars again on your channel takes me back to a simpler time. You don’t realize how blessed you were as a kid, when all you want to do is grow up and have all those things when you get older.
I like all the brands of muscle cars back then but I always liked the underdog AMC cars. Had a 68 with the 232. Wasn't fast but it always got positive attention wherever I drove it and that was back in the 90s.
This starts out saying it has a 401 engine, but the air cleaner says 390 & the ram air parts are missing under the hood. No mention of the Breedlove spoiler over the back window or the rally pack gauges. Leather seats were an option on these.
I bought one back in November of 69 new for 4100.00. had everything this one had except it had a 390. Big bad blue. Beat many a mustang and Camaro with her . This one is great.
Why so much. I bought a new Rebal Machine in 1970 and it was only $3500 plus change. I still have the sales slip if you want the exact amount. Mine was a green with black vinyl top. The 390 in it was for that car only with 340 HP. The AMX of that same year with the 390 was only rated at 325 HP. Knowing what mine cost a year newer has me wondering why.
I had the go package plus All the spoilers. Roof and front. Out the door price including intrest on the loan came to 4100.00. monthly payments were about 67.00 plus insurance. I sold it in 73 during the gas crunch and bought a Toyota pickup since I had to travel 35 miles one way to a body shop where I worked as a painter.
I really don't like when guys get fancy. Just put the cars back stock and don't put funny stripes on the hood if they didn't come that way from the factory and don't try to be Dave Kindig by making quarter panel extensions part of the quarter panel because now the car needs a complete repaint. It really bothers me when guys try to modernize cars. If you want a new car get a new car. If you want an old car get an old car. Every old car I look at always has issues that are not easy to fix and that is why they end up being sold to someone else. It is missing the ram air hood parts under the hood.
Looks like it's had a rattle can resto underneath and whoever put the floor pans in did a crap job. Yep just another old maid in a party frock. Nice work on your channel
I had one way back when, White with red strips and red leather or fake leather int.Had a red spoiler with the Donahue name on it but I never knew who he was. it had a 390 engine with an auto trans, and it was fast, real fast. My ex-wife totaled it.

Had a 68 javelin. 6 cyl. 3 speed. Beet the h *** out of it. Just kept going. Wish I had it now. Sad how u do dumb stuff when ur young lol. Had a 65 impala ss with a 70 402 BB. 4 speed m22. Pass anything but a gas station lol

I always preferred the Javelin to the shorter 2-seat AMX. It just looked better proportioned.
