That's a lot of Phillips Shoe.
Phillips Shoe.... Classic.
How to make a Phillips hue controller:
1: screw a nexus 6p to the wall
2: enjoy😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Overkill? 🤣
Since the battery is fucked up at everyone´s nx6p it´s a pretty good idea..
its not nexus
My still alive nexus 6p disagrees
And it's not a Nexus it's wawei or whatever
The lights set the tone, serious mood, games mood, romantic mood and yes the jiggy jiggy mood.... Love light they can transform an ordinary apartment into a little bit of bling... Nice job..
Who the hell is "Philip Shoe?"
Sounds like a bright and colorful fella.
Haha, sure is! ;)
WebX lmao glad I'm not the only one who thought that 😆
Hahahaha This guy Phillips Shoe is a Great Guy One of the Brightest out there 😂
Can you set all of the lights in your house to a party mode type theme then record a video from the outside of your house?? That would look so cool I bet!
started with this a few weeks ago as well. being a tech guy, i can tell this is very addictive and expensive :-) in terms of saving energy, there is statistics saying led lights can only have an impact of 8% of your total energy consumption. well, that is still 8% i guess.
Hope it's coming together nicely altma!
Well, 8% isn't a lot, but hey, it's still something. And then there's all the time you forget to turn off lights, and now with Hue, you wont. That's probably the big saver.
+ lifetime of course. Price of 1 hue vs. X amount of regular bulbs.
I did the same thing in my house and it wound up costing me around $1100.00 USD. BUT I entertain guests frequently at my place and the Hue system I installed WOWS my guests when I show it off. I have plans to extend my system to some of the outdoor lighting that is available from Phillips. Nice job on your setup in your place. :)
I love it, I have a small apartment and I've implemented Philips Hue everywere. Got multiple sensors in my bathroom too. I had to change the fixture a while ago and couldnt even find the switch anymore xd
Very cool, thanks for sharing. In my opinion, I would spend an additional 1000€ to update the lamps. Also I think smooth walls improve the look. I'm in the process of creating my own set up. What Id really like to know are the scenes you've created and how you use it on a daily basis. Great job and nice videos!
Thanks for the good video series. Love it!
You are welcome, and thanks for letting me know. :)
Thanks 4 sharing your hue set up!
Thank you for watching!
I like his honesty.
currently my first goal after college, job, house, is ->100% Phillip hue house+voice control by amazon echo (or a better one years from now...)
Amazing project man. I hope you enjoy it. That's exactly what I wanna do. I need one hue strip for my desk and one more for the bed. And we are all set. Extension hmmm maybe later depending on the budget. Great vid and show. :) Hi from Greece!! I love philips hue btw. Waiting for the budget daymn.
Great series of videos. Currently doing something similar at home. Your right it's not cheap but once it's all setup it'll be ace. One thing I'm using is mention sensors to make it even more automated.
Thanks Tristan!
It sure is a bit pricey, but worth it I think.
I hope your setup will turn out great. :)
Your video was the BEST, the Billy as we would say.
that second video after one year would be nice. thanks nice lights
Thank u, I will now plan for about 15 Hue Lampe for the whole house and 2 Paulmann Seilsystem because they are eyecatching :) can nearly not wait to have them done :)
Wow, sounds awesome An K! Hope to see it when it's done? :)
I love all this videos
Great job on switching all the bulbs. Now all you need is a couple of Google Home devices to control them by voice. instead of having s phone on a wall.
Yeah, sounds like the next step! :D
Julio Lagara alexa
GlutteBoy Alexa is trash. 2 years in the market and Google Home is already doing most of the same things.Pkus extra features.
I was gonna get Alexa but is Google Home that much better?
Ryan Mckenzie Most definitely! it integrates so much easier. Answers questions so much more contextually. It's only bound to get better since Google has already released the APIs for developers.
Oh, boy! I loved it!
As soon as I saw that evolved bamboo gt I subscribed.
Great video! I think you should add the Hue Go to your collection, it's amazing.
Thanks!
Yeah, that's certainly a possibility. Especially now when I'm soon moving to a bigger place, I'll probably need some more lights. :)
Thanks for the recommendation.
Also disco app for hue is cool as well.
Your parties must be "lit" as the kids say
LIT MAN! 👏🏼
Awesome videos.. great series.. I'm gonna order all this tonight since I just got the Echo dot.... Good shit!!
Thanks Robert! Should be pretty cool with the Echo. :o
Cool video, thanks.
I just installed my first setup also. So far only living room and kitchen but surely very addictive. I have also added Siri shortcuts for preset scenes so when I want to watch TV I only have to say "Set TV" and all the lights dim and color for pleasant TV lights. Also similar for Reading, Chilling and Nighttime.
Particularly enjoyed your phone-on-the-wall solution. I will definitely use my old iPad for that.
Enjoy and thanks again from a fellow scandi also living in Spain. Saludos !
PS: I live on the Canary Islands so I buy all my stuff taxfree at the airport in Oslo. Starter packet with bulbs worked out as euro 145 after I got rid of the tax. I usually do the same thing at Kastrup but haven't bought any Hue stuff there yet.
Best test of hue bulbs mate, thanks
Thank you for watching!
This video makes me feel better about switching to Philips hue!
How so? :)
Tomassively I wasn't sure it was worth the price, but after watching the series I felt my purchase was worth it. Thanks again for making the series!
Right on! You're welcome. :)
I will be following up on this to have a look at the electric bill. See if I can see a difference.
Tomassively did you save any electricity?
Great video,Here also Hue everywhere in our house ,now you just need to try the hue disco app and have a Great Party 😊
Thanks Peter!
I must try that. :o
Hey! Great vid, in comparison with the regular bulbs you had, is there much, if any, difference between the regular bulb and the Philips hue when it comes to light "strength"?
I just love Phillips Hue too 😂👍🏻👊🏻🤝🏻🤙🏼
Love this video.
Thanks man!
Phillips:How many colours do you want ?
Me:
So it’s been quite a while now, 2-3 years. Have the bulbs brought on any difference?
Sheesh!!! I see money in that house lol
Those lights add up
They aren't exactly cheap, no. :O
Do these never go out or do they go out just as quick as ordinay bulbs
Can you do a video about the Phillips Hue 1 year later? Do you use any kind of voice control like Google Home or Amazon Alexa?
Hey man, I just want to ask if the Philips Hue Lightstrips need to be connected to the power outlet in order to work
Thank you.
That is great demo, we did the same... we ended up with 48 lights and yes that cost a lot. There were 12 lights i left out since I couldn't use 2 hue bridges without switching, very annoying feature. Hopefully Phillips addresses that.
Dis ypu tried 2 different routers?
subscribed, looking forward to that electricity spendeture records
Man, fantastic vid series. Definitely interested in whether you tried to hook it up to your alarm system (wake up with your lights dimming up) or setting up a GPS feature where you show up home or leave your home and they switch on and off and how you found those features.
You could do a compare on 2 months from before your Hue switch, to 2 months afterwards but it might make a difference with the seasons you experience in Spain.
Do you think you'll remove your little Android setup now that you can control it with your iPhone?
+LordUsagi hi there! Thank you, appreciated! I have the system setup so it'll turn on lights when I come home if it's after sunset. And turn off whenever I leave. But I have not tried with the alarm! Must try that! :o
I'll see if I can do a comparison sooner.
The android phone is still there. It's just working as a central control. For whenever my phone is in a different room, or when I have guests. Instead on having to turn on lights for them, they can do it them selfs on the android phone. :)
whats the name of your soundtrack? love the video.
So it has been 1 year and 1 day. Did you save money on your electricity bill? 😊
2 years now
Lol
Fr
3 years now
4 years now
you are AWESOME !
I have a question:
If I turn off the lights from the old switch and turn it back on, do I then have to setup the whole thing again or do it just connect to the Hue Bridge automatically when the power goes on again? (Hope you understand)
Buy an Amazon echo and control the Philips lights with your voice, it would be amazing!
Great Setup and videos. I skipped around a little bit, but i was curious how much lighting/product you used for your bedroom setup?
Thanks Brain!
For the bedroom, I used 1 bulb and 2 meters of lightstrip. That's it! :)
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like working with a mounted controller takes away alot of the IFTTT capabilities that a philips HUE has. For example automatically turning on/off when you're home/away.
Will you be making the energy savings video anytime soon?
Hey nice set up you got. it's pretty costy but I was wondering how to make lights changing color itself while you playing music like that?
Thanks Seung!
Well, there's a ton of apps out there for all that kinda stuff. For music, I know theres a "DJ" app that will do that. Also, you can use IFTTT for a lot of automated stuff. :) (ifttt.com)
Hey! Really love them :)
I want to get into philips hue myself, but the color ones are really expensive. How often do you use the colors, and do you think it's 100% worth it? I'm thinking myself that colors will be cool for a week, but after that you'll want normal light. I was looking at the Philips Hue White Ambiance set. Do you think that's also good?
+RimboMusic hi there Rimbo! Well, I'd say it's a little early for me to call it yet. Only been living with these for a few days now. I think you might be right about the colors. It's very very cool, but if I'll use it, time will tell. So far, not so much. Maybe what you wanna do is only use color bulbs in a few places. Living room maybe. White bulbs will do the job I think. :)
I hope that helped a little. Anything else, please let me know.
Have a great evening.
Hey,
This is my main account (I'm RimboMusic).
Can you give me a conclusion of buying the white ambiance set would be enough, or do colors make it worth extra $80?
Hi Rimbo! :)
Well, I can't give you a definite answer there. I do not own the white bulbs. But, honestly, I don't think colors are all that important. Maybe just use colors in a few places where you'd like some disco. :)
So far I haven't really used the colors (outside of making these videos). As I type, it's all in white. :)
Get the color ones for sync with movies for example and the white ambiance ones for other places. (Kitchen for example)
Did it make a difference?
Just about to replace the final bulb in my house with a Hue bulb. Then my house will be 100% Hue. Including 3x dimmers, 2x motion sensors. :D
So. Did it make a difference?
Is that the one u use to sync with tv? Price pls!
Did you save any costs in electricity?
I love it the only thing I hate about them is they run out one day btw don’t like the wires hanging around the house
Actually the Bolds are cheeper on Apple, belive it or not, 49 euros. The strips the same price, Only the starter Kit is a little cheeper. Nice setup, and you will save money on electricity for sure, specially since the prices are righter high here in Spain. But if you use all the lights every night it will be around the same as before. (Mine save around 70% when used only in rooms Im in).
Have you thought about adding Google Home to your setup?
Cheers Kenneth
Wow, I would not have thought that! Thanks for the tip Kenneth. :)
I'll look forward to saving that money then. Sounds great.
I have thought about either Google Home or Amazon Echo. Must do more research before choosing! Do you have some experience with them?
Nice philips tjue
I have a Smart Metre for my Electric which updates every two seconds so I can see the Philips Bulb saving. I have found that Amazon Echo or Dot does not control the Philips Hue. After walking the dark cellers of CZcams I have found a way.
It takes £30.00 of hardware and £2.50 plugs in it fixes the problem. You have a voice controlled lighting system as well the smart tab or phone. KJB
The Danish Casey Neistat! It turned out very good imo!
Hah! I'll take that comparison as a compliment. I LOVE Casey.
Thanks Edward. :) I think it looks great.
the phillips hue forever alone kit
Okay, so on the lighting strip behind the couch. Did you attach it to the wall? Or attached it to the couch?
It's actually just sitting on top of the back of the couch. Loose. Not the best solution. I'd probably recommend fixing it to the floor behind the couch (which is what I have since done).
Well, at least you have a house full of Hue bulbs and a hideous fan and headboard.
can you control your lights when you are away from home? like turning the lights on and off while you are out of town to make it look like someone's home.
Yes, you can
great job. which app was used for music light display?
That was actually just a IFTTT app! :)
It is aproximatly $1476.48 in Canada
Have you tried controlling them using Google Home? It will be cool too.
I have a question. You not only switched bulbs, where Phillips Hue fits in. There some kind of LED lights with another socked... How did you do that?
I am sorry, after watching the vid again I saw that you replaced the whole lamp :)
Hi I would like to ask how many Bridge u used for your whole house? it is for living room for sure 1 Bridge, and then 1 extra Bridge for bedroom and then another Bridge for Bathroom? Thanks for your answer in advance
+An K Just 1 bridge for all. :) Each bridge Can handle 50 light bulbs. Within the app, is were you setup the rooms.
that lightswitch had to go on the door frame?
you should get go's a playbar and blooms
Dope
It's been 1 year already. We want a update!
Can you connect the lightstrips and the bulps with one (the same) hub or do you need 2 different hubs for lightstrips and bulps?
C94R 1hub Can connect upto 50 devices.
Hey I want to extend my hue lights over 20M, but phillips says the maximum you can extend is 10M, Do I have to buy a different bridge & sync every 10M? Please help.
"Fily Pew!"
I just got my starter pack however the bulbs say don't use on anything connected to light dimmers and the majority of my lights are connected to light dimmers....how did you get around this?
Oh, I didn't know that. Well, easy for me. I don't have a single light dimmer in my house. :)
I guess you could just disconnect all the light dimmers? Unscrew them from the wall, and manually close the circuit.
Just wondering how much you saved on your electric bills if any...
Hey bud, how are your bulbs in the bathroom getting on? In the UK they aren't IP rated for bathrooms. Just wondering if steam etc affects them?
I actually had no idea! :o
Well, so far, no problems. I even have one outside the house. That works fine as well. :)
Tomassively nice one, might install one in my bathroom then, I steered clear before now because they weren't IP rated for bathroom use. The bathroom is the only room in the house without a hue light, i'd also be thinking about installing a hue motion sensor in there too, so no more light switch ever and no having to talk to Alexa either! Cheers chap!
+UK Tool Reviews I guess they'll be ok as long as they don't get real wet. But we'll see. I'll let you know if they die.
You could go with lightstrip in the bathroom? I'd imagine they're better with water.
Could be an idea but not sure it they'd chuck out enough light though? I might just be patient and see what the Philips techies come up with, they must have a bathroom light in the works somewhere surely.
In my experience, the lightstrips are super bright. So if you can find some clever places to fit them, I think they'd be great.
Otherwise, you can buy lamps that are waterproof. Try look in the "outdoor light" section at your local hardware store etc. Maybe that's the way. :)
is it possible to control the lights (on/off) from the house's switches?
It is, but if they're off with the light switches, the hue control system cannot override that. If that makes sense. :)
Did it actually save you money?
should have gone with yeelight half the price and just as good
hi mate do the light switches need to stay on to work
if someone turns switch off do i need to turn back on for voice activation and app to work
The switch on the wall needs to stay on. The Hue Bridge (little wifi box thing) doesn't require the light switches to be on, though, so all apps and functions will still work if one light is switched off at the wall. They just won't work on that particular light, because it's unpowered.
Basically, if someone switches off my hallway bulb, I cannot use my hallway bulb until it is switched on again, but my other rooms' bulbs will be completely unaffected.
so how your electricity bill now?
Now automate everything. Raspberry Pies, Motion sensors, Android Device + Tasker and never touch a dimmer switch again.
Hi look I have a question
If i buy one kit with 3 lights and more 1 hue light white and color , I get to the 4 lights with my celphone ?
Yep! That's correct Karine! :) You can add up to 50 lights to 1 Bridge I believe.
hey, what apps do you like? i have the bulbs and want them to change with music.
Sorry, I actually don't really use any outside the official Hue one. :O
Very Cool. Now get an Amazon Echo / Google Home to control it all via voice. And a Logitech Harmony Elite to control lights and media in one.
Amazon Echo is already on my list, but they don't sell them here in Spain yet. :(
Waiting..
Thanks Jon!
Very cool indeed. They don´t sell Echo in my coutry too, and I am not sure if it would work properly if I buy it in US and install here, in Brazil. Are you thinking in buy it somewhere else, Tomassively, or are you going to wait till they sell Echo in Spain?
I was thinking about ordering it from the UK, but I haven't done any research if it would work. I don't see why it shouldn't, but I cannot promise anything of course. I will probably just wait. :)
Tomassively this is the international version. I have ordered it and will keep you updated. (www.amazon.de/gp/aw/d/B076828R18/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅZÕÑ&qid=1516549682&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=echo+dot+2+international&dpPl=1&dpID=41iz5Tw82IL&ref=plSrch)
Philip has a lot of shoes
You will probably never recoup the cost of those bulbs through energy consumption. Also, there is no reason for colored bulbs everywhere and could have paid half for the white bulbs.
what happens when ur wifi is down?
Hi, it’s been a year now... What about the 1 year review ?
You could have saved a lot of money by using signature whites or even the old white bulbs in places where you don't need color, like the toilet.
Yep! That's one thing I might have done different looking back. But the plan was to do color all over. :)
NEW VIDEO PLZ ITS BEEN A YEAR!
That’s also Pepe le pew!
One Thousandth like xP
wish i only had 10 bulbs.....
nederlands?
