  • Hello everyone! On the third weekend of April, Cincy Railfan Productions and I went out once again to our favorite railfanning hotspot in Cincinnati for what would be another eventful Saturday and Sunday of railfanning. Just like in the previous week and in the previous video, the train action from today's video once again contains heritage units, this time from both CSX and Norfolk Southern, as well as one of the last locomotives of its kind; a Southern Pacific unit still in original paint.
Our great weekend of railfanning kicked off on Saturday evening when we went out in pursuit of the Seaboard System Heritage Unit, CSX 1982. We were fortunate enough not only to see it leading its train, manifest M561, but to have a good amount of action on this pleasant afternoon. Surprisingly, CSX was busier than Norfolk Southern with five CSX trains and just three NS trains. The Indiana and Ohio did make an evening appearance with one of a couple daily exchange trains that run between the I&O yard in Norwood and Queensgate Yard. Today's I&O train did include a former BNSF Dash 9, a new acquisition for the shortline railroad as BNSF is working on trimming down its older fleet of Dash 9s and SD70MACs.
The next day, Sunday, was the big day in terms of heritage units. Though there were hardly any trains, three of the trains we saw did include a heritage unit or a special unit. The first of these was Norfolk Southern manifest 123 from Decatur, Illinois, with a rare Southern Pacific AC4400CW serving as DPU on this train. This Southern Pacific locomotive is one of just five locomotives still in original Southern Pacific paint in operation for the Union Pacific Railroad, so be sure to get them before they are finally gone! After the SP unit rolled through, we went up to Glendale where we caught the CSX Monon Heritage Unit and the Conrail Heritage Unit. I unfortunately caught the Monon at an awkward angle I had to pull up into the gas station to film the train as there were cars ahead of me when the gates went down. As a result, I had to film CSX 1897 with some obstructions in the way. Fortunately, I did get a great shot of NS 8098 leading intermodal train 28C to Chicago. The Conrail Heritage Unit is now the one HU I have seen the most as this was my seventh time seeing it in action, and the fourth time seeing it leading a train.
Overall, it was another memorable weekend of railfanning in Cincinnati and I hope to experience more weekends like this in the months to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy the video!

@@NW475 But Dr. Nefario! GEs are toasters and burn too easy. We need better motive power like EMDs.
