Not only was SnapTrap a favourite toy of my childhood, but I vividly remember the comic story arc which focussed on the Seacons as well. The ‘Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots’ play feature of the scapula mounted cannons was awesome and I could be mesmerised by causing the Seacon leader to repeatedly ‘put your guns up in the air, put your guns up, in the air.’ There was however also the UK Marvel comic plot line featuring Blaster and a female human character who somehow frustrated the entire Decepticon aquatic murder sextet in their own oceanic environment. If you're bold enough to hack up your toys, you can give Snaptrap, and thus Piranacon himself, a head swivel. The head is on a square plank by itself, so if you unscrew the enormous amount of screws you need to unscrew to get to it, you can slice the corners off into a rounded octagon-type-configuration, and it swivels beautifully.

Great review! I had the original Seacons. They were, and still are, fantastic. The simple idea to make weapons out of the smaller robots seems like it could have been adapted to ALL the G1 combiners. I do agree. The green head looks odd to me, The pinkish color of Overbite too. I seem to remember him as a purple color. Still a great set.
I've always thought the Seacons were a cool set, I've never gotten to experience them myself, though. I wish more late G1 stuff got re released every once in a while. I'd love a Headmaster Autobots set.
I appreciate how in *depth* you went with those puns, they were *leagues* better than anything i could *cod* up with. Id even go as far as to say im a bit *shellfish* of you for doing so
Those old plastic packaging. I miss the ROTF font on those packages, reminds me of the days when you could go to the store and the only starscream on the shelf looked like a broken dinner plate. Good times...
Hahaha, Still laughing at the puns at the end. Love the Seacons (That COLOR SCHEME!!!!) but my true love will always be for the Technobots and Computron. HASLAB or someone better give us the ultimate one, dripping in perfection, soon..... Or else maybe a LioKaiser.... but man... ain't Seacons pretty with all that Aqua Green and Pink? :D
Dublin City comics got a set of these in a trade about a year ago and Doc and I were going through the bits and we were convinced it was a KO, but I guess not.
I don't know a single fact about these toys outside of their Basics episode, but they're one of my favourite teams all the same. Probably because the Japanese names of King Poseidon and God Neptune are just so awesome.
As kids in the 80's, during half term and the like we used to have to spend the time at our Gran's cuz both parents were working. One time as we were being dropped off, we were told to pick a hand, left or right, and were given a Seacon each to play with. I got Nautilator, my brother got Seawing. So Nautilator is the best Seacon for these very scientific reasons.
I spent so many years trying to get a set of these guys and when I got them in 2016/2017, it was worth it, easily my favourite combiner nowadays, they're just goofy and unique
Some very fish-ny puns going on here. I'm surprised Repugnus wasn't used for fish food. Got this set a few years ago. Nice set. My favourites are Snap Trap, Seawing & Overbite. Though I also have the selects Seacons plus G1 Snap Trap and Tentakil.
I've been slowly collecting the original G1 released seacons for the last few years and I just love them, so far I've got tentakill, seawing and nautilator all complete with in tact enough stickers, everyone else but snaptrap seem like a pain in the arse to find complete in a condition I'd be happy with though unfortunately, I wont let myself pick up snaptrap though until I have the rest of the team so I can enjoy them all individually as their own thing because I find them all so fascinating in their own ways. Maybe this year I can finish up the team but I've been telling myself that since 2020😂
Finally, my favorite team has their time in the limelight. SeaWing was the only one I had as a kid, so naturally he's my favorite. Also I'm proud of Gavin for not opening up the Manta Ray mouth in robot mode, something I can say I've definitely NEVER done ever.

I honestly can't tell if that's true or something my mind made up over the years, but I remember seeing this on shelves at a store and thinking to myself ''wtf is that'' before leaving. Years later I feel dumb, but I didn't know any better at the time
I guess there technically IS a definitive set up for who is which limb based on his animation model that was only used for the marvel comics. (As seen on his g1 character profile by Bob budianski) Nautilator is the right arm, Seawing the left arm, Skalor the right leg, and Tentakil as the left leg
I bought the new Knockoff recently(which is weirdly green for some reason) and for £13 it’s pretty good, and owning an actual tentakill and watching this video it’s weird seeing all the changes that they have made, especially making Seawing a back pack, and downswing snaptrap to be core/legends scale. And just for the record Tentakill is the best Seacon, no competition.
Great review this is my profile pic. Mine is missing the weapons so I made most of there guns out of modeling clay and some lego so I can do there taget master modes.
It took me a while to realize at 1:45 you're saying "there are six Seacons" instead of "there are sexy 'cons". Still, you would've been right either way. Speaking of sexy 'cons, I kinda wish Tentakil here could've become a standalone character that manages to eclipse his role as just a combiner limb like Swindle did. Accoring to his bio he's kind of a manipulative, silver-tongued devil who loves to weasel his way into the hearts of his would-be victims with false affirmations, lulling them into a false sense of comradery before wrecking their shit to Kingdom Come like the parasocial creepozoid he is. Oh, and he'd definitely be humming Underwater Love by Faith No More to himself while cracking chumps open.
aside from snaptraps head being green witch isn't a big deal cause I have the OG figure, my main issue is the plastic, its so fragile feeling, this thing is a display item only as far as I'm concerned, if I want to get a set to play with, Il hunt down some loose OG figures
I have this set and Snaptrap has these springs that are kinda messed up, but otherwise it’s a good set. I still have my BotCon Seascons too, but the plastic quality of those is better.

Interesting fact, Overbite was supposed to be the targetmaster, but Nautilator is just so fucking stupid and incompetent that he ended up being the gun
Those puns in the end were so hard to swallow. No, that's a bird pun! Argh! All those plastics certainly seem egregious after a year or two of buying new toys that lessened them down to a bit, it sometimes does bother me when I do buy an old toy or another series when it makes me think of it having even a smidget of plastic in it. I will say, though, the neon colours certainly help make the Seacons stand out a bit, and make you realise how few neon coloured characters there are these days.
I'm surprised by how much i like the Seacons, because i don't like when team members share a colour scheme, that's why i don't like the Aerialbots that much. But those colours and beast modes are too good to dislike.
Hold on, is this set really Gamara and an assortment of his monstrous rivals? Were the designers binging old kaiju movies? Could then just not agree on which limb design to reject and so had to pretend it was also a Targetmaster?
