I never said that Aurora was anything other than Norwegian. In fact, I've never even said what culture or nationality she is. I simply said "this is how she makes me feel", not " this is who she is". I know she is Norwegian. I said this because I have a friend in Sweden, who's shown me beautiful scenery. Something I could compare to. Not AURORA.

    • @JustHorseyMie
      @JustHorseyMie Před 4 lety +22

I haven't read any comments, but I can imagine. I think the reason behind reactions are because Norwegians are used to being overlooked, to be thought of as a part of Sweden or Denmark, many people, especially Americans, think Norway is the capitol of Sweden.... Also, Swedish music industry have done a lot "better" internationally, so I think norwegians get naturally defensive and possessive of their cultural icons and artists, and want people to know, without a doubt that they are norwegian and not have them associated with any other country, even if it was only in passing.
Also, not even close on the pronunciation :-D Ni (as in AnNie) Da (as in Dalai Lama) Ros (as in ... you don't have this sound I think, rolling R, O is long but not as in room, more like Oh!) Domen ( Do, long O sound but again kind of like Oh, but not) Men (as in Men, plural of Man). We make completely different vowel sounds, so it's hard to explain.

No problem. some people just trying to find something to complain about. If you had said she was Swedish (and you did not do that) I don't think even Aurora her self would care about that. After all what is important is the music, not a minor detail. Ignore all those stupid comments. You seem like an good hearted and lovely girl and it is fun to watch your videos. Love to you from Norway!

With Aurora, you should always choose anything live first. Even though her produced music is really good, there's something a bit of "extra special - Aurora" included in all of her live stuff.... She's an adult that sees life, literally, through the eyes of a child with a sense of wonder. She's unapologetically herself at all times! ( which is AWESOME! )

Nidaros Cathedral is the northernmost Gothic cathedral in the world. The cathedral is built over the tomb of Olav the Holy Viking King who Christianized Norway and became the country's eternal king.
The Nidaros Cathedral was begun in 1070 and finished in all its splendor around the year 1300.

Hi I'd like to recommend two more songs from Aurora's Nidarosdomen performace: Little Boy In the Grass & Lucky.
About the songs: "Little Boy In the Grass" is for the victims of the Utøya massacre that happened in Norway on 07.22.2011 & for someone who was important to Aurora who died. She would have been 15 at the time the same age as the some of the people who were killed.
"Lucky" Aurora wrote it when she was 9 & she says "It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember".
About the location: Nidarosdomen (Nidaros Cathedral) is a 10th century cathedral of the Church of Norway located in the city of Trondheim. It was built over a 230 year period, from 1070 to 1300.
For the best quality you want the video on Marcin Wieczorkowski channel called: Aurora Live in Nidarosdomen. (Timestamps are in the description)

Thank you for your beautiful reaction to Aurora. The concert this performance came from - in which Aurora was then 21 - was filmed in November 2017, and broadcast in the December as a Christmas concert. You are right, the musical arrangement was absolutely sublime, and I especially loved seeing Rachel Potter playing the harp. The Nidarosdomen is the northern most medieval cathedral in the world, where Norwegian kings have been crowned for more than 800 years.

    Aloha Sister!
You look amazingly cool in your fairy elf costume and face. I wish I had half the talent you have in your art work. (Yes, I call what you do, Art. Some of the amazing colors you use In past videos you’ve reacted to with your colorful makeup on is sooooo friggin’ cool to see. Again…pure art. Keep making those other short videos too. Very Cool🤘🏾🤙🏾🎼
This song of hers is incredible. I love this young lady’s voice…her immense intellectual awareness of how to lyrically connect to the listener of her masterpieces….of course, her seemingly fearless presence on stage during a performance, yet when speaking to the audience in between songs she speaks with such a warm and inviting tone as if the fan in the crowd she’s speaking with is truly a friend.
Such an inspiring young Wahine. My introduction to this little Angel’s musical world was coming across “Runaway” from the Nobel Peace show. I sat watching that vid, and rewinding it back to back AT LEAST 25-30x?
Why? Because I was watching another human being that gets so into a song, and in tune with her body and space around her that every movement she made, whether it was forming a huge circle in the air in front of her with both hands WHILE bending her right leg
was presented with such intensity, that I’d question anyone’s DNA if they didn’t feel the emotions oozing out of her and into your living room, or wherever you were watching the performance.
But, I really lost it when I started to dig up and watch all the interviews and documentaries on CZcams about her and her personality traits. Andy I finally found another person that has the same things I’ve been struggling with, basically, since I was a young kid…. And I’m 50yrs old now. It was incredible watching her speak on THE SAME struggles I dealt with in school…. The same feelings of not being able to fit in ANYWHERE and felt so much in my own element alone and in nature (which is great that I live in Hawaii and beautiful nature surrounding me.
With each documentary, interview, songs with powerful messages like “The River” thati kept going through…. Yes, tears would flow…. But, also, I felt like I wasn’t alone anymore. It is just so hard to put into words all that I am trying to say. And, I realize like I’m most likely sounding as if I’m a third grader trying to out tight into words in an adult body and mind 😁. And, for that, I apologize.
But, I just can’t thank the Universe and powers that be, enough for this blessing of Aurora into our lifetime. She’s inspired SO MANY things in me that I thought I’d given up on them forever……such as writing music again. I started digging all my papers of unfinished songs and “post it’s” and notes of possible lyrics noted in my cell phone and really felt happy again, writing.
Even about LOVE. I had all but given up on Love. Honestly. Within the last couple years…went through a divorce which, painfully, involved her infidelity with a co-worker of hers, then the kicker…a fling with a co-worker from MY work place. Other stuff like forging my name to take $35,000 saved in my account (long story) ….I really didn’t care about money, really …. My mom and sister were way more angrier than I was 😁. It was the infidelity part that stung and hurt for the next five years.
Then, to compound this chapter of my world…within a four month period or 'Ohana lost my Mom and My brother’s wife both lost their battle with cancer. And,I truly started to question life and my purpose in it. I would say I was losing hope that I’d ever find peace that would lead into finding happiness…. But, the thing was, I wasn’t “losing hope”….I had lost hope. Seemingly all of it.
But, that amazing little Norwegian Dynamo, who to her mother’s advice to share her music with others that may need strength through her lyrics and emotional music.
And, bless Mrs. Aksnes for guiding their three daughters to love and have humility, humbleness.
I have such a new outlook on my life now. Of course it isn’t all smooth sailing and without possible landmines ahead.
But, I wake up in the hours to get ready for work with renewed sense of hope and strength I’ve never felt in such a long time.
I’ll forever have much Aloha for this young Wahine separated by thousands of miles between us. Yet, through her ethereally beautiful gifts of Music to all of us…. It was as if through my darkest hours, never had I ever thought that lyrics of “…. Stitch your skin onto my skin, and we won’t be alone…”, would be so powerful in my world and shake its walls.
And, I was able to finally release so much pain bottled up from mom’s and Kanani’s passing……. But, only after I finally listened to “The River”. Amazing tune AND VIDEO. The thing about Aurora…. Is, she doesn’t do a bad performance. And, it seems, no two performances are the same. And no matter…she STILL makes the song sound so incredibly sweet and beautiful. And, yet…. Sound fresh.
    Amazing Wahine🎼🎶🎵❤️

Aurora is delicate, deep, sweet, very expressive, emotional and performative and adorable. Despite the different style of music, her style reminds me of Kate Bush in her early career. In fact, the two approached the same theme and made two beautiful songs about "seeing the world through the eyes of a child". Kate Bush with: The man whit child in hisc eyes, and Aurora with: Throught eyes of a child. They are truly two wonderful divas.

If you want to hear CREEPY from aurora, check out "In Boxes" from her, it could be the anthem of a horror movie. Its not on any of her official channels as its an unreleased song, but i think its up your alley :D
I know this is an old video, but i just had to inform you in case you weren't aware as it is one of my favourite songs of Aurora :D Its just so f*cking different from anything. At least considering when it was originally played live (2014)

Whenever I see folks reacting to Aurora, I'm reminded that there was an artist before her that had similar music styles... who again is compared to Björk... Susanne Sundfør, she even got some international fame as she was on a movie track to some Tom Cruise movie I think it was, Oblivion? Ya should check her out as well if ya get curious.

Well, no Swedish greenery for her, but remote Norway, which where she grew up she’s described as, not many cars, bumpy roads, snowy mountains, and lots of trees, think of Narnia, and you’ll understand.

GREAT! If you are doing more Aurora songs, pick the ones from this concert first, since those are her best performances by far. My favorite song from her is "Soft universe" which she also sings at this concert.

The studio version is intense in another way. To me, and to other ppl I’ve seen comments from, this song is about abuse. Aurora has never confirmed that. But it’s a strong message in that song, whatever you take from it. Whether you do a reaction to the studio version or just listen to it on your own, I really recommend that you listen to that as well. It’s almost haunting.

Nidaros is the old name of the town Trondheim. Pronounced Needaros with emphasis on the first syllabus. A dom is a cathedral, and "-en" in the end means "the". So the whole word means "the Nidaros Cathedral".

I try to give you a pronounce of Nidarosdomen :-): Needarosdoomen (kind of). And as many before recommended, watch "Through the eyes of a child" and if you want to hear her native language try Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen the live version (the thumbnail is kinda red colour). I love your reactions to Aurora and you are not alone with crying. XD

If you love this kind of music give yourself a favout and try the Swedish band "Ritual" they are musically so inspired and they make evocative music, often inspired by the fairy tales by Tove Jansson...
The music is progressive qith folk instruments and the lyrics often have a medieval/fairy tale feeling or they revolv around thematics of life meaning
I am sure you would love them
