Adum be like "this is a masterpiece and one of the best movies ive ever seen... and im giving this one 7/10"
Martin Anastasov adum also be lik “so i just saw lady bird and it was pretty good - 6/10
Any disney movies- “it was decent 6/10”
THe rating determines the quality of the film itself not how he felt.
So it doesn't mean he didn't live it he said it himself the reviews aren't meant to be bad to him a 6 out of 10 is a good review.
Fuck yeah
Enee how?
I think there's no better compliment to a director than Adum saying that one of his movies is completely different from the previous ones (with both being good movies).
Bible Illustrated What about Only God Forgives though? It was pretty different from Drive...
You know, some directors just want to be recognized for their mind, not just their body (of work). Lol.
I think an even bigger compliment is saying he's going to go see it again once it hits theatres. Not home video, but a theatre. The single most unpleasant place to try and enjoy a movie.
I'd go with "I fucking loved it", but sure. We'll go with yours. It sounds smarter.
In one Sardonicast episode, they share their worst theater experiences, and none of them were as bad as what my friend experienced.
He, already an adult, went to see Home Alone 3 (a tragedy in its own right) in a theater. It was practically all kids, but two people stood out in particular: one who's already seen the movie and was telling his friend next to him what will happen in the next segment, and a mother who was reading the subtitles to her son out loud. #fun
I can't believe this got like a 57% on rotten tomatoes
What's that
@@user-mj6qr2ky9d do you realize what kind of a channel you're on
@@ggthewhale do you realize rotten tomatoes is utterly meaningless
@@obscure.reference where did I say it's meaningful?
@@ggthewhale definitely your tone with ur previous reply, mean to post to op anyway
Also saw this at Cannes. Loved it also. It's a Coen Brothers comedy made by David Lynch.
Lebowski as written by the nihilists
@@robbieclark7828 what
I see it more as a Thomas Pynchon book adapted into a movie
I felt there was also a lot similarities to Edgar Wrights films, especially in the comedy
@@RockyMarsh09 so... inherent vice?
Idk when was the last time I saw Adam give a film over 7/10. Should be rad.
R A Not that long ago, Isle Of Dogs
Baby driver ?
Isle of dogs was phenomenal. I've never even heard of this movie and him giving this an 8, possibly 9, has me very, very interested.
Blade Runner 2049 got a 9
Check his IMDb page, he's already given another film from Cannes an 8/10. His IMDb page is also where you can see him rating other classics, like Vertigo (which he gave a 9/10) and Barry Lyndon (10/10.) He rated both of those somewhat recently.
Anyone else notice Andrew Garfield’s face in the palm tree of the poster
Nick Oliveira I thought it was just me!
Where?
@@rascalD86 0:08 his face is in the palm tree in the middle
okay but did you notice the faces hidden in the bubbles on the poster
There's a lot of hidden shit in the poster
There should be a new film rating system where its just Adam's last line.
"What should we go watch tonight?"
"Well I've heard Under the Silver Lake is good, Adam rated it 'fuckin' loved it"
Has anybody ever noticed how VERY like Tony Perkins Andrew Garfield is? I mean right down to the angular shoulder and the wide, thin, slightly crooked smile.
I'm not suggesting someone remake Psycho or anything but...
Its deliberate too, since there are signs that he might be the infamous Dog Killer in the movie.
I’m proud that Andrew Garfield has grown as an actor. I can’t wait to see him at the Tony’s for his role in “Angles in America”
I really wanted to see this movie and this just made me more excited omg
Rebecca C same! I loved his previous movie so for this one to have the yms blessing is great ! Lmao
The footage you showed looked so pretty it was almost mesmerising.
The whole movie is straight eye candy!
When Adam starts his review off with "it was awesome" then you know the movie must be amazing.
This movie is one of my favorite films of the year. I love the old Hollywood feel to it, the mystery and performances. Overall a great movie!
Saw Adam first in the line for that film. In the line that was several building long. Wish Cannes screened it in bigger location than Les Arcades. Thanks for review, will definitely check it out, once it is released.
Awesome! I was definitely intrigued by the trailer. Now I'm pretty excited for it!
"When it's out in theatres in June" EDIT: when A24 doesn't know how to market it so they dump it on VOD, a year later. Serious note: watched this last night on Prime Video and hooboy, it's a goodie.
i was very excited for this movie and i am so happy to hear that Adam confirms its awesomeness!
Literally just saw this at Fantasia (and met Adam because he saw it again at the same screening) and it was fucking fantastic! 8 (or 9) out of 10 is SPOT ON. The film is a little long and begins to drag towards the end, but it is extremely well and meticulously crafted overall. Not to spoil anything but it definitely merits multiple viewings. Everything is done with intention and lots of attention to detail. It's in my top favorite films of the year, and perhaps of all time. I've never seen anything like it, and I don't think I ever will.
- almost favorite film of all time
- 8/10
come on man
I agree. Saw it when it came out. Showed it to multiple friends at different times; showed it to a girlfriend. (Dont do the last one, she was really weirded out and bored)
Still remains as my favourite movie - if anyone happens to ask in a casual conversation. And any rewatches I've done, or the ones I will do for sure, it will never disappoint me.
Can't wait for his review of 'Burning'!
Love how he ends it with thank you
Gaming Wizard he’s so polite. He coined the term. Now everybody’s saying it.
This review came out almost a year ago and I was just able to see the movie today. Why A24?
i was just able to watch it like a week or 2 ago through amazon prime...
Swoggo Froggo yeah same for me. I think the reviews were just too decisive to release outright. I really do love the film though.
This movie reminds me A LOT of Inherent Vice, and that's a good thing to me
Ugh. You got to go to Cannes.
Curse you. And you absolutely perfect CZcams Channel thumbnail!
“CZcams Channel thumbnail?” You mean profile picture?
your* profile picture*
SpyengoEen - No.
hahaha no
yes
I'm loving these Quickies.
The critiques aren't divisive, they're divided. The film is divisive.
He didn't say that, he said reviews
nofail who cares tho?
@@marlona6642 Clearly you did enough to answer a 1 yo comment
@@nofail That's 10 seconds of his time
I was honestly worried for this movie because it was getting polarizing reviews but your input makes me want to see it even more.
I love how for quickies of movies that Adam loves it feels like he’s using music from the movie he’s talking about and that everytime he reviews a decent film or below, he always plays the same waiting music.
Sick, even more excited for this now. Cheers A-dum. x
I got accepted into the program as well and had a great time and I look forward to hearing about your experience!
Really ooking forward to this one especially now that it has your seal of approval 👍🏽
Would you consider doing a vlog or vlogs in France, Adam? I'm so glad you got this opportunity and we definitely would love to see what your highlights are while in Cannes! Love your work as always, from Australia :D
This movie drew me in and had be fascinated with it completely for its entirety. Unfortunately, the director answers so few questions and by the end lets go of so many plot lines set up during the rest of the film that it is very very annoying to watch. All that this movie geta right is the atmosphere which it does superbly. The story is undecipherable period.
You got me really excited to see this
Andrew Garfield is a great actor the red riding trilogy was amazing and so was 99 homes and silence were fantastic (all are on amazon
lol he's a trash actor. In everything he's been in, he's appalling.
pixelfizz ugh you're probably those annoying bitches that only ever watched him on asm 1/2. Keep on hating.
It as nothing to do with hate, he just simply isn't very good imo. Damn. I didn't even bother with those those shit heel movies. I've seen a fair few of his other films (hacksaw ridge was hilarious though, he turned that movie into funny bad for me). Social Network he was ok but again, one of the worst performances in the movie. When he tries to show emotion, it's comical.
Maybe this could be the film where i change my mind...who knows...
pixelfizz you should definitely watch Silence. That one will most likely change your opinion on him
pixelfizz Your trash!
Thanks for putting this on my radar
thanks horse dada
qubie He's a horse lord, like the Dothraki.
Ty Adam, as always
Is it as good as Truth of Dare?
*or
Way better
Lol
RLM posted their review today and they seem to echo your praise. Will be watching it soon.
Same. Saw RLM's review & came here afterward.
After he was completely wasted in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", I'm glad to hear Andrew Garfield has had better luck in other movies since.
I'm very pleased that this movie turned out to be good. I am not surprised, but I am glad to know its just as solid as it looks
Glad this director is getting these opportunities.
The trailer for this looked really promising, plus knowing the director....I'm glad it's good
This movie blew chunks.
I just saw it, it's definitely not for everyone but I loved it as well
I'm Oliver from Letterboxd.
So for anyone here who hasn't seen it yet but is wondering where it is:
They unceremoniously dumped it onto Amazon VOD. Also the aspect ratio is screwed up (I think they have it at 16:10 instead of 16:9) so make sure you fiddle with your player's output setting before you watch or everything will be stretched vertically.
Also yeah this movie is fucking great and I've been trying to get more of my friends to see it since its release. Hopefully we get an American Blu-Ray release at some point, I will be all over that.
Love this review never heard about this movie but just from what you said I’m definitely going to watch it in theater
Haven't you watched The house that Jack built? Eagerly waiting for it!
this movie had so much panache but was hella confusing and the payoff wasnt worth it
Finally saw this last night for the first time. It really spoke to me and I really enjoyed it. Gave it a 9/10 as well. Thanks for the rec adum.
Looks and sounds like a similar experience to the Inherent Vice adaption
I may not be able to sleep, but at least I can watch this immediately
Just from seeing the footage in this video, the film gives off a huge Kubrick/Eyes Wide Shut vibe and I don't know why that is.
"Fun to watch" is the best way to sum up this film. Think that the comparisons between this and Southland Tales are warranted but this film was less pretentious.
Now this movie was a goddamn experience
So happy to see this movie get a lot of praise, even if i'm 4 years late
I don't know too much about Cannes, but will you be able to see Shoplifters?
He gave it a 7/10 on imdb
As long as it has Andrew Garfield I’m watching it
Wow I can wait to see a *REAL* movie of it
Never heard of this, but the clips cut together here makes it look like a mix between Mr Nobody and Memento lol
hey man i love your vids !!!
This looks fucking AWESOME.
Adam, I love you!
This is glowing praise... What have you done with YMS!?!?!?
Hope you do a longer video dissecting such an odd movie.
"Not a 'conventional' film." - The new gold standard.
dat cinematography doe
Loved it
Awwww FUCK YAAAA I CANT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE
Adom 😮 is it anything like Inherent Vice?😮😮 i loved that 😅😅
Just got back from AFI fest, I agree with everything you said. The film as a whole is really well done, I'm not sure if I watched a different cut than yours since it's been so long, but it seemed pretty similar for the most part with what you were talking about. The overall tone and energy of the movie is great and it kept it moving along. How long was your cut of the movie? Mine was about 2 hours and 20 minutes.
There's only one cut
Judgung by the preview blurb on IMDB, I'm hoping the "pop culture" spin they mention finally tells us the true origins of Poppy.
what is "mars argo". now CZcams Celebs for 400
art garfunkel I meant canonically, the whole illuminati thing. Wouldn't that just be a batshit twist if Titanic Sinclair was a producer?
The movie reminds me of Inherent Vice so Ill check it out.
Cool vid dude
the movie poster for this film is basically a screenshot from the opening of DARLING in the FRANXX
What a weird fucking anime that is. That anime is the reason people don't watch anime.
I love this movie
I guess I’m not necessarily surprised it has gotten very mixed reviews considering how strange it is, but at the same time I had VERY few problems with it and thought it was incredibly interesting and entertaining.
Oh fuck yes! Forgot this movie was coming out, it looks amazing :D
this actually the best review on this movie because you don't over-think it some how. It's just fun even if it's just a movie about a broke guy moving in with his mom and in denial the whole time it's still fun!
This gives me a strong Donnie Darko vibe
this movie got postponed but is now available online..
What is the music/soundtrack at the end of each video? The creepy one
Fun fact:A house in It Follows and Under the Silver Lake have number 1492 on it.
Can’t tell if this is the new mulholland drive or Lebowski but that 8/10 is well deserved
It looks like a brighter and more colorful donny darko type of flick.
Can't wait for this one to be leaked based on your review
Nothing like a HASHTAG in a CZcams video title
dug this movie
I kid you not, i was just comparing this movie from a multi trailer preview site and thinking about It Follows and thinking " is this the same detector as the movie" boom question answered, thank da lord!!
If only there was a possibility i could see it
See it as soon as you
Cannes
*fukin' loved it* - the compliment everyone craves.
Can't wait for this movie to never come out in my town :^)
A24 is awesome, It gives me hope for the future of cinema
You should have done a Vlog.
Reminds me of Inherent Vice a little
Fucking loved It Follows and can't wait for his now
Still waiting
You went into Cannes wanting to HATE it!!!!!!
I knew this movie would be good since I first saw the trailer
It's fucking fantastic. I'd give it a 9/10 critically, but in my heart it's a 10/10. In my opinion it's groundbreaking in the oddest and best ways possible.
