The bit about the windows is SO GOOD for anyone wanting new construction. My Husband and I got shades for our new build and the company that came out to measure told us they had to measure each window separately because of those tiny variances. I think it’s common in the building/construction industry. But we wouldn’t have known if they didn’t tell us. Don’t think you measured wrong or anything was wrong with the shades!

Kayla, for your outdoor lights you should buy dusk to dawn lightbulbs! Even to tide you over until you get a smart switch. Dusk to dawn bulbs will solve your problem and is such a cheap change.
we have multiple different lights (regular and led) hooked up to the same light switch. so even if I changed the bulbs on the sconces, that wouldn’t solve my problem for the up lights. a smart switch set to a dusk/dawn schedule will control everything.

Amazing Smart House/Home so far. It’s goals. Guess we’re around the same age cuz I remember the Smart House movie too and it’s the reason that I’m trying to turn my home into a replica of the movie lol. My thermostats are Google nest. I like that my temperatures are automatically adjusted. So my bill stays basically the same monthly

We had a robot vacuum, don't remember the brand, was a cheaper one that did great for a while. It would always show in Google home to be running when it was clearly docked and never wanted to follow instructions from Google but worked fine from it's own app.
that’s how our old robot vacuum was too! we got a new one but haven’t set it up yet, thanks for reminding me! lol
Also you said if we wanted to suggest somethings lyk in the comments….Lutron Caseta!! I have em, did my research and we seem to kinda think alike when it comes to things like this so I would recommend Caseta smart switches. You’ll like em. I hope I’m not suggesting this too prematurely cuz I’m only 14mins in but everything looks soooooooo amazing so far!! 💯🤙🏿✊🏿
FYI, no window casings are 100% square and wood has movement, so you can expect variations in through bowing and cupping that will be revealed most along the longer span in the frame. You should typically reduce your dimension by 1/8" to 1/4" depending on the window shade company you are purchasing from. Some manufacturers want exact measurements and they make the reduction outlining the tolerance. Others provide exactly why you specify, so you've got to do your research. The outcome looks great though! Keep up the great work. Love your videos and design style.

With home kit they are like $350/ shade . It is an investment when you are buying for a house with lotsssss of windows but we definitely saved from buying Lutron Serena or triathlon shades , which we originally wanted 💰💵💸💸💲💲💲💲💲💲💲😩😩😩
majority of the reviews I watched said they used Home Kit! seems like that’s a much better system for these shades

I’m sure there’s a more technical video on CZcams that can give you all the specs, that’s not my ministry lol. I hooked everything up to our normal WiFi and it works just fine. We have the highest speed plan our internet provider offers.

yes, I have a personal account that’s not tied to any of my social accounts.

if someone wants to hack my ceiling fans or lightbulbs, be my guest lol. not really sure what they would gain from that. 😂
but no, I’m not concerned about that. it’s much more likely that they hack my phone, social media, computer, etc. something of value before hacking my google home.
