Here's how to use saddle soap to clean your leather boots.
To clean your boots with saddle soap, you'll need a few items:
You'll need saddle soap. In this video I'm using Kiwi, but my top pick for best saddle soap is Fiebings.
Get Kiwi Saddle Soap on Amazon → amzn.to/3gWUSLd
Get Fiebings Saddle Soap on Amazon → amzn.to/3DUWrDF
Get a dauber brush on Amazon → amzn.to/3jIjZ6A
Get Microfiber towels on Amazon → amzn.to/3kTHV6k
And a leather conditioner for when you're done. Here are two of my favorite inexpensive leather conditioners.
    Get Bick 4 on Amazon → amzn.to/3DDDIMu
Get Venetian Shoe Cream on Amazon → amzn.to/3B4Fc3i
Brush off all dust and dirt from your boots with a rag. Fill the top of your saddle soap tin with warm water. Wet a dauber brush with the water and create suds in the saddle soap by working the dauber in a circular motion.
Brush your entire boot in a circular motion until the upper is entirely covered in suds. Wipe off excess soap with a microfiber towel. Let your boots dry and condition.

Good tutorial, the only bit of information I’d add is that you may need (and it’s okay to use) a brush to kick excessive dirt before you clean and condition your boots. I’m a commercial electrician in a very dirt happy area of the country, I have to use a fairly stiff brush to knock off the heavy dirt off my Red Wing Roughnecks

I live in west Texas, I leave my boots in the sun for 40 minutes- 1 Hour the longest. In the winter well ya over night inside. Also I use a soft toothbrush to get in those deep spots like the welts and the guest. Also I use a sponge the apply and conditioner as it spreads it nicely and it allows me once again to get in those tight spaces. Another thing I do is put a light coat of the conditioner on the inside and if the soul is a veg tan I apply there as well. Breaks in the boot nicely and keeps the inside from falling apart. Had a pair of RedWings Iron rangers since I was 18 now 44 and only had 3 re-soul. My Nicks since I was 20 and only 2 re-soul. Every time I get a complement on how the soul and inside has kept up. Just saying the inside needs love too just not as much. I do the inside about 3 times a year.

    • @colesisler582
      @colesisler582 Před 2 lety +6

That can be fine short term but that will, over time, strip way too much moisture from the boots. But it’s good that you used Venetian as that has magical restorative properties making the soap of choice not a big problem. I’d recommend designated saddle soap in the future. The cheap kind is fine especially if you’re using Venetian shoe cream.

it depends on the cleaning. if you submerged the boots or shoes in distilled water, you will have to wait for 1-2 days for them to completely dry again. 30 minutes would never be enough.

This shit is a scam or just for hipsters that sit in offices and don't actually get their boots dirty. Dish soap works fine. Put them on your boot dryer overnight then the next day put obenaufs on. There's nothing better if you actually use boots for their intended purpose.

  • @torqueofthedevil8145

Saddle soap changes the PH of the leather which will lead to cracking eventually
