my FAVORITE ariana album EVERRR. it’s gonna be hard to beat for a very long time. i personally think this is much better than thank u next and absolutely washes her discography. this is the most r&b she’s ever gotten and i adore when she taps into her r&b and trap bags. a phenomenal body of work that deserves its flowers
Positions is her most faithfully R&B album so as an R&B-head, it's my favourite. Everybody loves the 'Thank U Next' album (her biggest album) but I find myself returning to the 'Positions' album way more than I return to T.U.N. The song I revisit most is "Safety Net", it's one of my favourite R&B duets I've heard in some years. The way Her and Ty harmonised the vocal run out of the bridge (I must've replayed that part 100 times). I feel like harmonies like that aren't as common in mainstream music like they were in the 90's, and I know Ari prefer's that era of R&B music, so I respect her for trying to keep this style of singing in mainstream visibility. [Also justice for 'Love Language', least streamed song on the album but it's one of my favourites, the Pop-Ari fans just didn't get it].

this is definitely a fall/winter nighttime album. although i listen to it all year it hits so much more when it’s gloomy and cold out lol. love it so much

In my hair she is singing in her whistle register, highest you can go. Hitting whistle note is a one thing but singing words and doing runs in mind blowing. Only few artists can do that and she has great control over them. In nasty there are a lot of whistle notes in the background or the layers.
man u gotta see her building harmonies at the studio, it’s just wild. she’s like a genius at music engineering too, there’s a couple studio sessions on her yt channel, you should definitely check that out
the main point behind six thirty is both hands on a clock are pointing down when it's 6:30, so she says "down like six thirty" :)

I definitely agree, the two albums are very different and they're just two different vibes. Positions has more songs that grow on you, and they're more laid-back. The songs on thank u, next are all very distinctive from the very beginning of each song. I also get tired of them faster. I love TUN but I don't listen to it nearly as often as the rest of her albums.

The only songs I dont like as much on this album are six thirty (the lyrics are toxic lol) and positions (it just does nothing for me, I cant help it 😭).
